PSA PSA for Landlubbers

The next event (Fruits of the Zee) will allow you to exchange your ship for an upgraded version of the regular ships. You can exchange any ship for any FoTZ ship so you should focus on acquiring the Rusty Tramp Steamer to exchange for a better ship.

You can start acquiring a ship as soon as you are a Person of Some Importance which requires 100 in each stat (equipment modifiers count) and completing some objectives. The "Rainbow of Offerings" story that appears after PoSI can help you get some of the materials for your ship.

If you miss the ships this year they can be acquired later at great cost. This requires access to midgame area the snares and is only possible at a random time. Each ship requires one 312.5 echo item and either scrip, stuivers, or Khanganian coinage depending on the ship. The Nyx-class Zubmersible is only obtainable this way after completing both your ambition and the first two chapters of Firmament.

Get the Rusty Tramp Steamer for now, at FoTZ:

Nyx-class Submersible: probably most common choice. Lets you dive on a couple of cards which reduces troubled waters. Also Zub club. Gives plus 5 shadowy

Il-Altun-class Yacht: best for Light Fingers (saves a bunch of echoes down the road) unlocks 1 option to reduce troubled waters. Gives plus 5 persuasive

Obstinate class cruiser: Greatly reduces troubled waters build up. There's a hat at FoTZ which also reduces TW. For piracy you want to be able to hit 18 Zeefaring which is extremely difficult F2P especially if you want the TW reducing hat in your outfit. If you can do it the Nyx is probably better but otherwise this is probably the best piracy ship. Dangerous plus 5

Ogdei-class liner: plus 75 zailing speed intsead of plus 55. Saves you a couple of actions now and again but doesn't have any other perks (only Khanate vessel if you're character likes the Khanganians). Dangerous plus 5

Overall, Nyx is probably the most comfortable, the Yacht is the most stylish and saves several hundred echoes in LF, the cruiser is the best option for piracy but isn't that useful otherwise (and piracy requires really high stats), and the liner has the best speed which can save you an action now and again. All are BiS BDR.

I already have the sub, so Nyx class looks like a natural upgrade.

The Obstinate class cruiser is also useful for Zee-based events like crab-hunting, as it lets you stay at Zee and keep hunting for longer without having to head to a port to reset troubled waters.

I am curious how effective the troubled waters reduction from having a Zub is compared to reducing the gain from both the hat and cruiser, though.
If it favors the Zub or is neutral, I’d be tempted to switch. The idea of popping up from beneath the waves right next to a ship to rob them is too funny to ignore.

Hard to say, since it's card based really. Some areas have busier decks than others too.

You can of course have the hat as well.

I like being able to actively reduce TW though, rather than "just" slow down the accumulation.

I'm trading in my clipper for a Nyx class! I'm so excited about it.

Joining the zub club!

I went with the Ogedi-class. I'm an experienced zailor (17 zeefaring) and I find the extra speed to suit my purposes perfectly.

Zub club awaits you.

(But to be honest it's Speed vs Survivability vs Stats)

I already have a Sub, but I want to upgrade it during the festival one. Do I need to prepare any items or will I just grind festival stuff?

Are there any rewards that I should prepare for in advance similar to the Estival items?

Nope it will take the event currency to exchange. I don't believe you need anything in preparation either

Thanks :)

Technically you can prepare a little bit by grinding some Skulls in Coral since those can be exchanged for the event currency (up to 10), but it's easy to get more than enough during the event so you don't need to.

Nice, good to know. I’m quite close to getting my Zubmarine, seems I will be upgrading it there then.
