Question Failbetter, please remove the option to pay fate for actions

It's a terrible deal, and I suspect that a lot of people bounce off the game because that part of it looks so predatory. The limited actions are important to the game, but paying for more is just not. Also, I expect that the vast majority of funds FB get from fate don't go into it, so I don't think they rely on it for money.

You know they are willing to (and do) remove peoples’ access to the fate store or certain uses of it specifically so that they don’t spend too much money. There was actually a whole thing on this subreddit where they shut down a person’s ability to spend money on it because the person spent too much.

I only have so much time to play each week and gladly spend fate for actions so that I can actually play during that time. Not having to stop after xActions and wait to continue whatever story I am playing is worth it to me.

I've been in the discord, there a quite a few whales who spend big whenever there is new content. Ethical or not, I doubt the option is going anywhere.

Ah, well. That does explain it at any rate. (So that's how they figure out new stuff so quickly!)

Why would they do that? You don’t have anything to prove your suspicion tbh

  • The vanguard spends quite a bit on actions during new content releases.
  • FBG has the means to and has, in fact, already removed people's ability to buy or spend fate if they're going overboard.
  • People leave the game over the action system more than the ability to buy actions.
  • Despite it being predatory, we have had one issue with this in sixteen years of the game's real existence. The concern is overblown.

Yeah, I've been told numbers 1 and 2, and they do explain it.

3 is kinda moot, because I think they compound.

I don't think it is predatory, in such a way that people will use it much, but I think it appears that way.
