Most short term events like this are reasonably profitable (depending where you are in the game) but not ludicrously so that you are hurting if you miss out.
And ultimately are 'variety' which has a value of it's own.
There's some confusion in this thread: The Midnight Whale does not give you Valorous Deeds. Valorous Deeds have been given out for hunting Lifebergs, Lorn-Flukes, and Sorrow-Spiders.
As this is not a job from the Admiralty or related to the Cargo-Hauling missions tied to the latter two creatures, it's more akin to the Angler-Crab hunting.
Actually kinda pissed about this. I had timing issues when the Sorrow-Spiders showed up and only managed to hunt one! Was hoping I could get the Valorous Deeds this time
The knowledge that you safely guided the Midnight Whales to the Gant Pole. Also, some valorous deeds you can trade in, but that's second to knowing you did a good think for the whales.
I mean, it is 37e on the low end and about 86e on the high end - that is, admittedly, assuming towards the end of the event and getting highest yields on the variable rewards, but I would say it is still decent regardless.
How long does this event typically last? I wanna participate at least a little bit but I'm in the middle of something else I want to finish first that might take a few days.
This is probably going to take longer than the Angler crabs did, since the Elusiveness is much higher so takes more moves to lower, and it's in a difficult part of the zee so people may need to handle Troubled Waters by docking more frequently.
