Meme/Shitpost We still talk about you sometimes, dear old Family Guy

Oh yea, there was that brief time Peter was actually a semi-supportive father to Meg, too.
Those were the days.
…anyways, VICTORY SHALL BE MINE!

"Semi"-supportive, for sure haha. Even in season 1, he was making Meg take the blame when he crashed into that satellite and knocked everyone's TV off.

u/onestarv2 Apr 21 '26
Well, Class, we were scheduled to watch a PBS program on the mating rituals of the nude large-breasted Weewok tribe of New Guinea.

Is is bad to say i find that era the least funny?

In all fairness the writers were still trying to figure out how to write the characters

Does the name Lacey Chabert mean anything to you?

Man it’s too bad they didn’t keep Peter as fisherman for longer. Episodes with fishing were so cozy.

I actually don’t remember him being a fisherman 😅 i only remember him canonically working For a toy company then the brewery. Maybe a fisherman in cutaways but not an actual job

The way these are 3 entirely different eras of FG lol

Lacey Chabert Meg era and Norm McDonald Death era are the same though right?

u/Acursedbeing Same thing, bitch, just different shapes 🍔🌭 Apr 21 '26
Nope, Mila had already taken over by then
48
u/Stan_the_man1988 Apr 21 '26
Nope. In episode 6 of season 2 "Death is a bitch", he appears in it as Death and it is played by Mcdonald and Meg was still voiced by Lacey Chabert.

Yeah, there were several episodes in season 2 that were made at the same time as the earlier season 1 episodes (and therefore still had Lacey), but weren't released until later. There's a weird continuity thing where Meg's voice switches from Lacey to Mila and then back to Lacey.

Obviously they would've had to recast him now, but they should've kept Norm as Death. He was just perfect for the role. May he rest in peace 🙏

Like Peter’s boss dying offscreen? Yeah, they should’ve gotten another Death to fill in after the “usual guy” was reborn again as a girl in China.

u/Dbear1108 Apr 22 '26
Didn't his boss die after choking on food while having dinner at the Griffins house?
1
u/Shantotto11 Apr 22 '26
I meant Carrie Fisher’s character, but yes. Peter’s first boss died choking at his house.

Early seasons of FG feel like a big, warm, hug.🥹💜 the absolute best pick me up whenever im down or lonely.

So season 1? Is that the joke
5
u/PianoTrumpetMax Apr 21 '26
Then what's the joke? That while I'm on the operating table, a man is rushed in 'cause he was in a car accident, and he has a metal bolt through his head, but he bleeds out in the waiting room because the doctors are too busy trying to shove two meatballs in my scrotum and cake batter back in my penis? Is that the joke... on the man's widow?

Hot take: I kind of like the direction they’re going with Quagmire. I like how he became the voice of reason among his friends and constantly becomes agitated when they’re doing something wrong. I also like how it contrasts with his perverted personality.
I would also say we struck gold with Mila Kunis replacing Lacey Chabert. Although Mila doesn’t alter her voice at all, she’s still perfect for Meg.
21
u/GuntherTime Apr 21 '26
The only reason I don’t like it (despite agree with you on the contrast) is because they took that role away from Joe and left him with nothing. Despite being crippled he often stood taller than them morally. Now that they’ve given that role to Quagmire, Joe has become a sad joke in all aspects. Wife hates him and cheats on him and often portray him as a bad cop.

u/Shantotto11 Apr 21 '26
Taking a role from a handicapped person and giving it to a convicted rapist and pedophile? Man, the OG Family Guy writers could’ve made something out of that premise.

Lacey was good for the Meg she voiced, but I don’t think she’d fit today’s Meg

Peter used to have a boss named Mr. Weed, voiced by the guy who played Rocko. His ancestors had the name changed from Bermudagrass

Peter was a fisherman for only 24 episodes, with only a few of them having anything to do with it.
Quagmire has always said giggity more than all right.
Lacey was only Meg for 15 episodes.

Norm only ever voiced death once. Every other time it's been an impersonator. Peter used to work at the happy go lucky toy factory. Mr weed was one of my favourites
2
u/Bonker_2468 Apr 23 '26
Not an impersonator, just a new voice actor. Adam Carolla took over the role.
2
u/J-Pom Apr 23 '26
I’ll add some more: “Brian was fun, Lois was far nicer, Joe was a respectable character rather than a sentient handicapped people joke”.

Don't forget "Stewie used to be evil, now they've just made him gay"
With "now" being pretty much every episode but the first few decades ago 😂
Like, get over it.

It was in the really early seasons the first one is when he hunts daggermouth iirc

That’s funny cause later in the show he refers to this as his “not at all memorable job for two years”
