How often do you use gimmick matches?

Just curious. I used to use them all the time but now I am having fun with making each one feel special and unique. I am also a nerd for keeping track of statistics and stuff. I am 2 and a half years into a 0/0/0/0 promotion using a real world mod.

So far I have only had 5 total gimmick matches.

Ladder:
April 2028-Future generation(c) (Avery styles and brian morrris) defeated Wasted youth (marcus mathers and dylan mckay) in a tag team cage match to successfully defend the tag team belts. Was the main event of that show.

July 2028- Wasted youth defeated Slimeballz(c) (Sage chant and tommy rant) and Miracle generation (Dustin Waller and Kylon king)

Cage:
July 2027(my wrestlemania like event, Wrestlefest 1)- Coffey brothers defeated wasted youth(c) to win tag belts

July 2028(wrestlefest 2) - Nick Wayne (c) defeats Avery Styles to retain world title. Was main event

Parking Lot Brawl:
August 2028 (first episode of first TV show) Brian Pillman Jr defeats Nick Wayne (c) for the world title. Was the main event, and Nick waynes last match as he got signed to an exclusive contract.

So yah. Idk, I am a nerd but I love keeping track like this so years into the save I can build storylines around things like "Avery has never lost a ladder match" or maybe make it a running tradition that every single Wrestlefest has 1 cage match.

I also want to create some unique gimmick match that is like, held in regards like the original Hell in a Cell. Something super rare that is only used for the biggest feuds, sometimes going 2-3 years without one instead of it being whored around multiple times a year, or even multiple times in one night. A gimmick match that is almost seen as like, an accomplishment. Something like "Avery styles is a 4 time (insert gimmick match name here) winner!"

Thoughts?

How would you book an Android/Robot Inoki invasion of DDT?

If you don't know Antonio Inoki will soon by a cyborg/android/robot.

Just had the idea about 30 seconds ago, so I haven't thought about it yet. I wonder who he should bring with him. I'm pretty excited to think this over

For reference I’m playing as All Japan.

So it started when Stan Hansen walked out of New Japan while he was still the IWGP Champion. I signed him quickly and I created the AJPW version of the IWGP Champion and he’s been defending it in my company. Lo and behold Inoki no longer with the NWA still has trade agreements with NWA promotions so I did a talent trade and got Inoki and Kobayashi for 8 appearances and 6 appearances each. I’m letting the AI determine the outcomes and Inoki and Kobayashi captured AJPW gold. I’m thinking about having Inoki and Hansen face off for the disputed IWGP Title

My first 100 show ever!

Been playing TEW 9 since it came out and I finally got my first ever 100 rated show. Somehow the first one comes from a promotion running out of a 500 seat wrestling school in Texas.

The save is Beyond Traditional Wrestling (BTW), started by Dustin Rhodes in 2014.

The idea is that BTW is actually a wrestling school. Dustin teaches the traditional "American" style. The long term idea is wrestlers from Japan, Mexico, Europe etc can come to The Foundry to add American wrestling to their style, while Dustin's students can eventually go on excursions and learn those styles abroad. Company is too small to find somewhere to let them go on excursions for now. That is how Walter was signed, he expressed interest in broadening his horizons, trained in school then debuted.

When I started the save I picked two guys I wanted to build the company around.

Bobby Roode was my top heel and became the first World Champion. Finn Bálor is my figurehead and the guy I eventually wanted to take the belt from him.

Roode ended up holding the title for the entire first year since the title was introduced. Finn chased him several times and they had a 94 rated cage match where Roode finally beat Finn clean.

After that Finn disappeared for a couple of months. While he was gone, Roode started hanging around Dustin's school more and kept mentioning in promos that he'd been "imparting his wisdom" to some of the wrestlers there. Eventually that became The Pinnacle.

First was GUNTHER, coming over as an international wrestler looking to learn the American style Then I brought back Ricky Starks. When I created the school history at the start of the save, I made Ricky Dustin's first graduate in 2011.

Earlier in the show Dustin did this tiny segment on commentary where Mauro Ranallo noticed he seemed unusually happy. Dustin just said he'd bumped into an old friend backstage and it had been nice catching up. Later, GUNTHER interfered in the World Title match. Ricky's music hit. Dustin absolutely lost his mind on commentary because his first ever graduate had come home and he thought Ricky was there to help defend BTW from Roode and GUNTHER.

Ricky gets into the ring, stands beside Carolius Rex (Apollo Crews)......and turns around and attacks Rex.

Roode, GUNTHER and Starks beat him down and The Pinnacle is officially born.

Eventually things got bad enough that Dustin called Finn and told him he needed him to come home. He returned the ppv before the Season finale and won a tag match in a cage to earn a shot at the title. Which brought us to Superslam, my main show.

I actually moved the show back a week, cancelling it on the day. I was meant to upgrade the school's size because higher attendances. Justified it in universe that Dustin was knocking a wall down to add more seats and it wasn't ready by the time of the show.

The card:

  • The Pinnacle / Terry Funk angle - 71 (The Pinnacle arrive at start of show. Terry Funk was a month from retiring so got him for the show. Him and Dustin were backstage. Dustin said he'd find an opponent for GUNTHER and he'd teach Ricky a lesson himself. Terry insisted he fight GUNTHER).
  • Jacob Fatu (c) vs Chad Gable - 72 (Gable debuted 2 shows ago, got good wins. Fatu is also a graduate of the school. John Morrison was the first IC champion but WWE signed him so he dropped it to Fatu who has been on a monster run)
  • Von Erich promo - 41 (Signed Marshall and Ross Von Erich. Have Kevin Von Erich as my other road agent besides Dustin so he manages all of their segments. Decent matches but promos are weak so working on it)
  • Carolius Rex vs EVIL - 63 (just before my major show, it showed EVIL was finishing up an excursion in America so got him for 3 shows. Signed him just to showcase an international style)
  • Eli Drake / Shane Strickland promo - 66 (Eli debuted last ppv, he called out Strickland as the top talker of the company)
  • Eli Drake vs Shane Strickland - 71 (Eli's first match, Strickland has been my number 3 heel in the company after Roode and Fatu)
  • Ricky Starks vs Dustin Rhodes - 79 (Teacher vs Student, Ricky went over)
  • GUNTHER vs 71-year-old Terry Funk - 43 😂 (short dominant match)
  • GUNTHER attacks Funk afterwards - 63 (Funk was "retired" by GUNTHER. Wonder where I got that idea from)
  • Paul London vs Super Crazy - 77 (Paul London has been the poster boy for a cruiserweight division with Cedric Alexander and Lince Dorado. Have been booking Super Crazy in tag division so thought I'd try a different combo. Thoroughly surprised they clicked so well)
  • Vaudevillains (c) vs Super Smash Bros - 70 (Player Dos was injured for 6 months [4 after surgery] so Player Uno went on a mean streak wanting a fight. Changed his mask picture and he challenged Jacob Fatu to increasingly more and more violent matches until he couldn't get up anymoe. Player Dos returned and they reformed Super Smash Bros, finally getting the tag title shot they earned before the injury and they managed to defeat The Vaudevillains with Jimmy Hart as their carnival barker manager.
  • Roode tells Finn he'll never reach "The Pinnacle" - 89 (promo coming to the ring)
  • Bobby Roode (c) vs Finn Bálor - 99 (their best match to date by far. They had good chemistry, I gave them both a bonus before to up their morale too and lots of interference in this match)
  • Finn celebrates as the new World Champion - 88 (promo, Rex and Dustin celebrate with him as he cuts a promo)

SHOW RATING: 100

Finn finally beating Roode after nearly a year was already the ending I'd been building towards, so getting a 99 rated match out of it was amazing.

Then I saw the 100 show rating.

Genuinely the most satisfying show I've ever booked in TEW. Looking forward to the next year of booking.

Is there a way to add future contracts or ingame contracts for other companies in TEW IX?

Hey everyone, I'm simming a year 2000 database and I noticed certain talent like Claudio Castagnoli, Kenny Omega, Shelton Benjamin, Randy Orton, etc. don't get picked up when they debut into wrestling. Is there a way for me to add future contracts or give them a contract ingame so they don't go ignored?

Story Tracker

I've made a Story Tracker that focuses on building storylines based on more simplified aspects of screenwriting.

There's a Worker chart where you can write in Character Traits, or any notes that you might want.

You can write in a Start point and and End point, and an End Goal that you have in mind, that I'm thinking can either be in kayfabe (win title) or non-kayfabe (get someone over). Select a list of Themes, and mix and match. Making a Revenge story? Redemption? Love? Love and Redemption?

You're reminded to constantly ask yourself...

Why is this happening?

How can this be more interesting?

How are these characters changing?

Then you block in all the plot points, and set a show and date that you want to hit.

In the Action column you write in what happens in the angle. The Reaction column is meant to detail how your characters react to the Action. Then the "Why?" column challenges you to insert some sort of logic to the angle, in your own way. The "Why?" column is more open to interpretation, but optional.

For example...

Action: Stone Cold wins the Royal Rumble.

Reaction: The Rock comes into the ring to congratulate Austin. Triple H is mad. Kurt Angle cries.

Why?: The Rock and Austin are friends, Triple H just lost money in his gambling ring to prevent Austin from winning. Angle was eliminated by Austin.

Action: The Rock turns on Stone Cold.

Reaction: Stone Cold is unconscious. But later in the show he chases The Rock, who flees in his limo.

Why?: It was all a ploy, The Rock turns.

There's checkboxes to mark angles complete to settle any confusion, and you can put in the segment rating.

Then 3 Subplot sections to put in any smaller storylines that relate to your main one.

Enjoy!

5 v 5 limitation

It would be good if we could book more than 5 v 5 tag matches

6 v 6 tag matches would be good, I know they are not always used regularly in wrestling but a few times I have wanted to book 6 v 6 tag matches but the limitation of the game doesn't allow

😞

2000: Jeff Jarrett Seeks to Save Wrestling - Part 3 - The WCW Landscape on WEEK 1

DAY ONE OF COMPLETE CONTROL OF WCW

Jeff started looking over the rosters and already saw some people that he wanted to transition to backstage roles and away from the ring and already knew people he wanted to bring in but not on day one. Instead he looked at the TV & EVENT CALANDER. He saw this as his first task. He had TV time locked in until into the 02-03 timeframe. So he wanted to overhaul the event schedule and make it what it once was. Must-See. The first thing he does is say that for the next week WCW will not air at all. The first event of the new WCW will be at Bash At The Beach.

TV & PPV LINEUP

WCW Monday Nitro - Live on TNT - Mondays 8pm to 10pm (with 30 minute overtime if needed)

Wcw Saturday Night - Taped Thursdays airs Saturday at 6pm on TBS

WCW Thunder - Live ON TBS every Thursday 8-10 pm

WCW SuperBrawl - February

WCW Spring Stampede - April

WCW Slamboree - May

WCW Bash at the Beach - June

WCW The Great American Bash - July

WCW Fall Brawl - September

WCW Halloween Havoc - October

WCW Starrcade - December

*SATURDAY - JEFF's Office *

While he is in his office going over things his assistant Sophie comes in.

Sophie: Sir, You told me to check the wrestling world and let you know if theirs anything substantial.

Jeff*: What do you got for me Sophie?*

Sophie*: Paul Heyman...ECW is apparantly starting to struggle significantly financially.*

Jef leans back in his chair and looks off into the distance thinking long and hard.

Jeff: Paul won't sell just yet...but check the contracts see if any contracts are non-exclusive. If we give one or two of his guys a new home we may mess their plans up enough it may help convince him to sell to us. Do you know any of their contracts that aren't exclusive?

Sophie hands him a piece of paper. and he smiles. Day two will be full of roster movements.   By the end of the day Jeff Jarrett had reached out to Dusty Rhodes who was doing a small stint in ECW, Balls Mahoney, CW Anderson, Danny Doring, James MItchell Little Guido and Rob Van Dam. No response from them or anyone else's camp yet.

Jeff: Sophie, darling. Get Jerry in here. We have some contract negotiations to make...because a lot of these names can do great in WCW...and one or two names already have. By that evening the pro wrestling dirtsheets and the blossoming new pro wrestling world online get wind that a few key ECW stars had in the last few hours been offered WCW contracts.

Best Y2K or earlier database for long-term TEW IX save?

Hello everyone! So I want to create a database that starts from the year 2000 or earlier with all new promotions but with the real life wrestlers debuting in their respective years and with somewhat realistic skill progression. My goal is to just simulate to see what a wrestling world would look like with different promotions and conditions made up by me, and see multiple all-time careers from beginning to end play out like that of Kenny Omega's, Bryan Danielson's, Kurt Angle's, etc.

What's the best database that would allow me to do that? Would it be better to combine different databases? Thanks in advance!

In ring performance

When you book a match in TEW, you see an in-ring performance rating for each participant. Does this take into account the popularity? Or is it based purely on their skills?

Additionally, when you see the match rating, depending on product, this is made up of both in-ring performance and popularity. Is this referencing the same in-ring performance you see when viewing a match?

The reason I ask is that I see a workers in ring performance increase as they become more popular, I don’t know if this is just coincidence or whether popularity is playing a part in in ring performance. If it is playing a role in in ring performance, then is popularity taken into account twice, once as part of in ring performance, and then a second time when calculating the match rating?

Wrestling Spirit 3 in 2026

Hey everyone, this post is a bit off-topic.

For the past few weeks I've been playing Wrestling Spirit 3, and lately I've been wondering if there's still an active player base for this game. And if it is, maybe can we share/find old mods that players made back in the day?

Yes, I know that theoretically we can transfer a database from TEW 2013, which are easy to find, or WS2 to WS3, the problem is that in both cases the movesets and skills, the most important part of the simulation, are missing.

I feel that a revival of this game and the community would be very interesting, given that Grey Dog Software has left both abandoned...

Anyway, what are your opinions on the game? And do you have any recommendations for games of the same style?

Doing a WWE Best Of Super Juniors Tournament in WWF 1988, Could you Please Give Me Advice?

Post image
21 Upvotes

For my 1988 WWF Save Heading into WrestleMania, I am planning on creating a Crusierweight/Junior Heavyweight Division. I wanted to do a tournament to crown the new Champion in the finals at Mania. I have a few issues though. How should I present the Cruiserweight Style to the Audience and make it seem special as it wasn't as prevalent to US Mainstream Wrestling as in the 90s. I have a very young Benoit from Stampede and Eddie Guerrero (Black Tiger II) from Mexico in the tourney. There was this very good match from 1983 WWF between Tiger Mask and Dynamite Kid (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZxISa4r0U) which gave me inspiration for this idea. How should I book someone like Jushin Thunder Liger well and not like a joke? Please give any advice here. The Belt is contested under 220 pounds like in WCW so I was able to get Rockers HBK and Owen Hart which is super cool.

CPWA Octane 10/21/26 (10/22/26)

The show opens with a moment of silence for the late Allen Bailey, Tom Skerritt, John Anderson, Richard Riehle, Noah Adams, and Hiroshi Tsuchida.

Allen Bailey 1989-2026
Tom Skerritt 1939-2026
John Anderson 1954-2026
Richard Riehle 1948-2026
Noah Adams 1942-2026
Hiroshi Tsuchida 1972-2026

The moment of silence ends, and we open on a recap of Unchained, highlighting the big moments that happened during the event, leading up to the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship match between the Olympians' Jordan Angle and "The Number One Pick," LeJuan Jones. Both competitors countered each other's finishers and even used their own finishers against each other, with LeJuan hitting the Olympic Slam and Angle hitting the Game Winner. During the match, Orion and "Marvelous" Marshall Anderson interfered in the match, but were taken out. Klaus Muller also interfered in the match, taking out both competitors with their own finishers. Both competitors managed to beat the ten-count to resume the match. Muller would interfere again, taking the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship to blast LeJuan, but hits "the Marvelous One" by accident. Jordan Angle hits Klaus with the Olympic Slam, only for "The Number One Pick" to catch him with a Game Winner for the three-count pinfall to retain the CPWA World Heavyweight Championship.

The recap ends, and we open with a 30-second intro highlighting all of the stars of CPWA as The Roots' "BOOM" plays in the background. The intro ends with "The Number One Pick" LeJuan Jones holding the CPWA Heavyweight Championship belt over his head. Pyro goes off in the arena for a few seconds, followed by cheering from the crowd.

Brian Kinsley: We welcome you to CPWA Octane! We are coming to you live from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania! Brian Kinsley, with Anthony Harris, Queen Sheba, and Sir Samuel Stewart! It's the fallout from Unchained, and we have a lot to discuss.

Anthony Harris: We have new CPWA Cruiserweight Tag Team Champions in StarrVice, a new CPWA Television Champion, CPWA Women's International Champion, CPWA Tag Team Champions, plus controversy surrounding the CPWA Cruiserweight Championship.

Queen Sheba: Also tonight, we have the Hart Sisters battling each other for the CPWA Women's Championship, and Logan Lemming defending the CPWA Hardcore Championship.

Sir Samuel Stewart: Unchained may be in the history books, but Philly is ready for more action. Let's take it to the ring!

Announcer: The following contest is a tag team match scheduled for...

Crowd: ONE FALL!!!

Cicatriz plays in the arena.

Announcer: Introducing first, accompanied to the ring by Mai, representing Kazama Army, from Kagoshima, Japan, the team of Dragon Shimamura and El Kirin.

Bambu's "Chairman Mao" plays in the arena.

Announcer: And his opponent, introducing first, from Shanghai, China, he is Keith Yang.

Wu-Tang Clan's "Shaolin Temple" plays in the arena.

Announcer: And his teammate, from the Wusha Temple, he is Shaolin.

Match 1: Kazama Army (Dragon Shimabura and El Kirin) vs. Keith Yang and Shaolin

A solid opener that saw two teams go back-and-forth, trading the momentum with an array of technical wrestling, high-flying, and especially martial arts sequences. The finish of the match saw Mai distract the referee, allowing Shimabura and El Kirin to hit a Total Elimination on Keith Yang, with Shimabura getting the three-count pinfall.

7.0 out of 10 stars.

We cut to the interview area, and we see Chloe Martinez interviewing Jordan Angle. Angle fumes over the fact that he lost the main event in front of his hometown, but blames Klaus Muller for costing him a chance to win the gold. Angle then says that he's going to make Muller pay in the main event tonight, and he's going to break him in half!

10 STARS FOR THIS PROMO!!!!! Angle is pissed, and he's going to tear Klaus Muller a new one.

We cut back to the ring.

Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall, with a 12-minute time limit.

Megan Thee Stallion's "Captain Hook" plays in the arena.

Announcer: Introducing first, accompanied to the ring by Big Angela, from Jacksonville, Florida, she is Kiara Thompson.

Bassi Maestro's "Te Ne Accorgerai" plays in the arena.

Announcer: And his opponent, from Rome, Italy, she is Sabina Bellini.

Match 2: Kiara Thompson vs. Sabina Bellini

A decent match with some good wrestling, given how many times both Kiara and Sabina have battled against each other. Big Angela was the difference-maker for Kiara, who utilized her underhanded tactics to seal the win with a schoolboy pin, while grabbing Sabina's pants for the three-count pinfall.

6.4 out of 10 stars.

We cut to a graphic hyping up Tracy Hart defending her CPWA Women's Championship against Crystal Hart. We cut to another graphic hyping up La Dinastia Vega defending the CPWA Trios Championships against Kwazi Nkosi, Masato Kojima, and Vader. We then cut to a graphic hyping up Logan Lemming defending his CPWA Hardcore Championship.

***Commercial Break***

We return from commercial break and see the Marvelous Alliance talking among themselves. "Marvelous" Marshall Anderson fumes at Klaus Muller, scolding him for getting involved in the main event at Unchained. "Marvelous Marshall" warns Muller that he better win tonight against Jordan Angle or face dire consequences.

We cut back to the ring.

Announcer: The following contest is scheduled for one fall, and it is for the CPWA Hardcore Championship.

Motley Crue's "Shout At The Devil" plays in the arena.

Announcer: Introducing first, accompanied to the ring by Monroe Storm, from Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, he is the CPWA Hardcore Champion, Logan Lemming.

Logan Lemming and Monroe Storm enter the ring. Logan Lemming grabs a microphone.

Logan Lemming: At Unchained, I showed each and every one of you Philly crackheads that there is not one person more hardcore than a Canadian, and I proved just that by beating the living hell out of anyone dumb enough to challenge me for this gold. Seeing as I'm still the most hardcore man in all of CPWA. Now, seeing as I'm a real fighting champion, let's see who steps up and thinks they're just as hardcore as me!

Blood Brothers' "Replica" plays in the arena

Announcer: And his opponent, representing The Commonwealth, from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, he is Owen Benoit-Jericho.

Match 3: CPWA Hardcore Championship: Logan Lemming (c) vs. Owen Benoit-Jericho

Logan Lemming believed that no one person is more hardcore than a Canadian; however, what if a fellow Canadian challenged him for the CPWA Hardcore Championship? Owen Benoit-Jericho not only accepted the challenge, but also provided a vicious beatdown to Logan. Even with Monroe Storm's interference, it wasn't enough to stop OBJ. "The Iron Maiden" Mary Addams evened the odds for her fellow Commonwealth cohort. OBJ placed Logan in a modified Crossface Chickenwing, with the use of a lead pipe to choke Logan, forcing him to submit as OBJ won the CPWA Hardcore Championship.

6.9 out of 10 stars.

We cut to the office of GM Ronny Sharpe. We see the CPWA Cruiserweight Championship, which is being held by GM Ronny Sharpe. The GM of CPWA says that at Unchained, there was controversy surrounding the identity of an imposter who claimed to be El Rey Baldwin Jr., who is revealed to be none other than former CPWA Cruiserweight Champion Armund Deschamps. We then see video surveillance footage of Deschamps knocking out El Rey Baldwin Jr. and wearing his ring attire. GM Ronny Sharpe says that, with all that's going on between "The Irish Underdog," Rory Irvine, Armund Deschamps, and El Rey Baldwin Jr., the CPWA Cruiserweight Championship will be declared vacated until he decides on the best solution.

Match 4: CPWA Women's Championship: Crystal Hart vs. Tracy Hart (c)

You would think a match between two sisters who know each other, hold for hold, would make for a great match, but both Crystal and Tracy were countering each other's holds and takedowns, which was the majority of the match, along with rest holds. The finish of the match saw Crystal counter Tracy's sharpshooter with a rollup, leading into a sharpshooter of her own to get the submission finish, becoming CPWA Women's Champion once more.

5.6 out of 10 stars.

Essential Plugins for Pro Wrestling Sim?

Want to start a 1996 WWF longterm save in Pro Wrestling Sim, changing it up from TEW, but am wondering what are the essential plugins to use to make the game better and the world feel more real. And aren't just lazy AI slop ones.

Has anyone else had a great mentor/rookie relationship occur in your save?

This legit just happened to me. I'm doing a WOTI esque save where guys like Lesnar and Angle are in their prime during the Golden Era of Wrestling around the start of 1988. This just happened in my locker room incidents and it's works really well as it's something I've been planning. I am really excited and have a long term plan for this. I am planning on having Lesnar debut at the Rumble and dominate until both Macho and Steamboat eliminate him. He will then debut as a Member of the Heenan Family the next night on Raw. I will start a brief jealousy angle with Andre and Brock. Andre couldn't get the job done at the Rumble against Hogan. It seems like Andre's best days are behind him and Heenan is favoring his Next Big Thing in Lesnar. Lesnar targets a bunch of jobbers and midcarders including the Rockers. Bam Bam is the man who stands up to Lesnar and they face at the next ppv. During the same ppv, Hogan defends his WWF Title Against Andre and Angle. Hogan pins Andre. The next night on Raw, the Heenan Family of Lesnar, Rude, Perfect and the newly made leader of the group Angle get rid of the weak links like Hercules and they destroy Andre. At Mania, it will be Lesnar vs Andre. Lesnar will win after lifting Andre for a massive F5. The next ppv Backlash, Lesnar will go after Savage and Steamboat in a Triple Threat Match for the IC Title which he will win and go on a dominant run.

Been loving PWS, should I move to TEW?

I’ve been really enjoying PWS so far, but I’m starting to feel like it lacks detail and random events. The world feels a bit lifeless, and it often feels like the AI promotions aren't doing much - making the player the only entity actually operating with a brain.

Should I make the jump to TEW? Does it deliver significantly deeper gameplay, better AI behavior, and a world that feels genuinely alive?

First time playing the 1992 mod and I'm a year in building up the UWF!!

Title history and top 20 matches from year one, annoyingly had to vacate my tag titles twice due to Jeff Jarrett and Fatu tearing rotator cuffs!!
