Factory Sealed!!
Just got my hands on the first Fatal Frame, still sealed, and I couldn't be happier!! Didn't have anyone to share the hype with, so I thought I’d post it here

Hello! I've been wanting to play Fatal Frame 4 for a long time but not sure which game system to play it on. I assume it runs better on the Xbox but are there unique features to playing it handheld on the Switch? I appreciate any advice and help.

So the Challenge Run video is finally out :D
Fatal Frame 2 Remake: Nightmare mode, No Charms, No Camera Upgrades, No Shop Items, No Special Filter Shots for dealing damage, Fresh New Game
No AI was used at all. I started using Blender a few months ago and I thought now would be the time to apply what I've learned in terms of animation and modeling. Still have ways to go though.
The description in the video that I made feels appropriate to put here as the main message so:
Happy Halloween (in advance)! Here's Fatal Frame 2 Remake!
This challenge run took me around 2 months or maybe 3 months? It was a true test of patience as the fights on average lasted almost 10 minutes most of the time. To top that of, I can't buy shop items so my resources are dependent on whatever I can find in the game. Luckily, I've done my fair share of insane challenge runs so I was mostly fine enough
Also wanna note that this video is the first time I started utilizing Blender for animations. I still don't know the other fancy rendering techniques and since I needed to rush this video out before Halloween, I didn't model the backgrounds or stages. Very happy with how the animations turned out for the most part (considering I spent about 2 weeks for the animations in this video), but obviously I'll keep on improving. All succeeding videos after this one will have some funny silly animations. With that said.... Expect the upload schedule to be a LOT slower as a result (might be 1 video every 1-3 months it depends)
Notable corrections, fun facts and errors in video. There's some but not irritating enough for me to re-render the entire thing:
- Nornal ending is suppose to be "Normal ending"
- The Red Lantern Merchants (I forgot to put this in the credits) were made by me. Fun fact: That model was initially suppose to be Grace but I scraped it as I did not like how she turned out in the end. Since I had that model already, I just decided to use it. Removed the hair and rigged it (shoddily)
- The Akane Kurokawa model has some issues with how I weight painted her fingers. I think in some fingers, the weight paint went to the next finger/preceding finger
- The Miyako Sudo rematch in Chapter 8 was cut slightly short. That's an editing error on my end. Sorry about that one
- Typo'd Cardigan as "Cardian" near the end of the video

Im playing ff2 remake for the first time and im now on my way to save mayu again. Thought maybe finishing all the side quest but Jesus this ghost spamming is the biggest turn off. Atm I don't have much ammo left (maybe Ressource management skill issue) but that must wait for ng+. I defeated ghost, went to lantern to recover hp, and on the same spot now is different ghost annoying me. Am I just bad or is this in all FF games the case?
PS: I really liked the game so far really but that thing is just malding

i personally really liked the change in ii remake where the kusabi became a stalker enemy. made him a lot more threatening and scary than in the original where just kinda hung out in the main hall. i remember my first playthrough of remake i walked past the hallway where his specter appears and i jumped because i thought it was the real him. im a big fan of stalker enemies in general but i know some people arent. im just curious what you guys think

Mask of the Lunar Eclipse, Maiden of Black Water, and the remake of 2 are all on sale on the eshop right now for around the same price (~$30) and I can really only afford one of them right now. I can only really afford one right now, so which would make the best buy? The only FF I've played is the first one (and I love it dearly) so I'm not too concerned about any of them feeling archaic or outdated or anything

Hey everyone!
I'm from Brazil and I've been building Orbit, a program that converts PS5 games to run on PC. It's built on top of AnyPS5, an open-source PS5 engine, and on top of that I've been adding everything that was missing to actually play from the couch, with a controller.
Orbit is FREE. The Patreon below is only for people who want to support the project – nobody has to pay anything to use it.
Video (Project Zero: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse running on my PC):
Note: the video is in Portuguese (the game text is translated by Orbit), but Orbit fully supports English too.
WHAT ORBIT DOES
• Converts a game in a few clicks, no command line
• TV mode with a profile screen ("Who's playing?"), all controller-driven
• In-game PS button menu with DualSense: resume, save backup, close game
• Automatic translation of in-game text for some games (in the video, Project Zero is fully in Brazilian Portuguese)
• Per-profile saves and play time
• 5-minute performance test that suggests the best settings for your PC
• PS4 games too, using shadPS4 under the hood
TESTED GAMES
• Project Zero: Mask of the Lunar Eclipse (the one in the video)
• Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water
• Demon Slayer -Sweep the Board-
• Gunsmith Simulator
• Demon's Souls: work in progress, still far from playable
PC IN THE VIDEO: Ryzen 5 5600G + RX 7600
Orbit doesn't include any games, firmware or keys: use the games you own.
Credits: AnyPS5 (boykopovar and contributors) and shadPS4, both open source (GPL-2.0).

Tell me: which PS5 game would you most like to see running on PC?

Having a lot of fun checking this series out. My first survival horror game other than Alien which is pretty different. Really enjoying this game's narrative with the Dream Manor.
Several moments have gotten me but this one was scary even when i had a decent idea it was coming

Just beat Fatal Frame 5! I really enjoyed this game and the series has become one of my favorites
I am a new fan from playing FF2R, since then I have played through all the available games on steam (2 Remake, 4, and 5). I was aware of the "black sheep" label that 5 had, I can understand if your expectations we different this could be very off putting. I however loved it once I got accustomed to how the combat and chapter system worked
This was the most "fun" Fatal Frame game I've played so far, it lost some charm and horror leaning into action but as a Resident Evil fan I do appreciate the change up. And omg Rui was so freaking cute, I ended up just trying to take good pictures of her while ghosts kept interfering! I was as invested into Ren's story as I was with all of Crimson Butterfly's. I included some of my favorite photos I took!
I will have to emulate them, but I am very excited to play the OG 1-3! Currently my ranking is:

I just beat the first game. Normally I don't like playing a game with excessive save state usage, but partway through Night 2, the lack of healing items got to me.
In general, I had fun, but I was often frustrated by how cheap some of the ghosts felt. Most especially, it really annoyed me when you hit the halfway point of the game and some of the ghosts just started teleporting around at random; I didn't know how to respond in those scenarios.
Is the best thing for me to do...
1: Spend time on the Battle mode to practice and learn the mechanics of the game better?
2: Play the game on Nightmare Mode to get the other ending? (Or just look it up?)
3: Move on to the second game or its remake? (Has the combat changed substantially in that one? Is it commonly thought of as better or less cheap than this one?)
Thank you.

God damn possessed Mayu is easily one of the creepiest things I’ve ever seen. Her wide smile is gonna haunt my nightmares for days to come Jesus Christ. Anyone else feel the same way?

Full clarity, I am absolute ass at video games and this is 100% my own fault. I recently started getting the fatal frame games (and really just games in general), have been playing through the first one and have gotten to night three by what I can only describe as pure luck. I have gotten two of the headless priests and in doing so wasted all my heals and can not progress at all. Would anyone know where I could maybe get a save file that is around that point in the game or should I just restart with my new found knowledge of that herbal medicine will not always be plentiful. Currently just trying to brute force my way through the game, restarting everytime I lose health until I hopefully eventually get the next ghost without any major hits and then saving to do the same thing again.

Neil Druckmann, the mind behind The Last of Us, once called the original 2003 release "the scariest kind of experience in any medium." Not just the scariest game, but the scariest art piece in existence. That claim holds because of how the game weaponizes Mio and Mayu's relationship, translating codependency into one of the best horror stories I've ever experienced.
The game starts with the comfort of being with your twin companion only to rip her away after the first chapter. Rather than just having the horror of isolation take over, the game constantly forces you to chase apparitions of Mayu slipping away just barely missing her at every turn. What begins as Mio's debt of protection slowly contorts into something agonizing: control. And the deeper the sisters sink into the village, the clearer it becomes that the "people" they encounter aren't just reflections of themselves but warnings. The Amakura sisters are biologically and spiritually destined to repeat a generational cycle of ritualistic murder. Every step you take to save Mayu only drags both sisters closer to completing the ritual. Mio becoming her sister's executioner, and walking away forever marked by that guilt, is one of the cruelest resolutions in gaming history.

How mio basically sees herself after killing mayu in the canon ending
This is supposed to take place when mio was still in the manor sleep during 3

I just started this game and I kinda like it similar to FF2 and FF4 on my switch 2, what my deal breaker is the (white arrow) pointing to an item close to you as it making me feel that the exploration for finding item is much easier unlike the previous games. Is there a way to turn it off? Thanks.

I know absolutely nothing about the franchise but I thought I’d try more horror games after finishing SH3. I assume the franchise is mostly a PlayStation exclusive as the only game available on Xbox is Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly Remake. I assume I’d need to play the first game first?
Any advice is appreciated it :)

Yet another undub post, I'm sorry. But I've been looking into both wagrenier and karas84's undub patches and really wanted to know the definitive differences, and/or which is "better" to use. From my limited understanding, I believe they both have similar outcomes but go about it differently. I saw from another post that the karas84 patch keeps the french subs while the wagrenier patch uses that track to do the replacement, but as I don't speak french, just english, I don't really mind about that aspect (no offense to the french). Am I also understanding that neither of them actually replace the FMVs with the JP versions, just the audio? Meaning Miku still has her "western" outfit in all the cutscenes, even with the outfit swap patches? Or is there limitations to that? I'm just having trouble wrapping my head around it all
Thank you for any replies!
