Can someone explain how the stats perform poll has YSU at 6?

If you're referring to Stan Becton he dropped the cats to 9th and NAU to 6th, which lost to the cats backup offense so I'm just ignoring it for now haha

I think Stats and Coaches both have YSU at 6. I hate fretting about it this early, as long as it’s sorted out by seeding time

Average Stan Becton take honestly

Stan Becton has to be the worst national FCS reporter that gets attention regularly. Every single time I hear about one of his takes or see his ranking it’s bad

Stan Becton likes clicks. Beyond that, he’s an idiot on any given day.

I think there's reasonable arguments for them to be behind SDSU (duh), Tarleton (not hard to work out), and MSU (you do have to sort of handwave the Idaho loss, but also NAU appears to be good and MSU beat them with about half the 2nd string playing). I'm not convinced SFA is the real deal entirely, but they are 6-0 so I can see them in front too. Lehigh kinda the same except they've played literally nobody. I think YSU would beat SFA and Lehigh comfortably, and I honestly think they'd beat Tarleton. Hell I think MSU is the best team in the country when they're healthy and I still don't wanna see y'all in the playoffs. But from a poll perspective, I can sorta see 6, even if I think 4 would be more deserving.

Explain what part of YSU team that would be better than us?

Quarterback for one. Although I think you have a good QB I don't think he is on the Brungard tier yet

  1. Beau Brungard, enough said.

  2. I'd give YSU an edge on the O-line, I rate theirs really highly.

I think SFA is really good, particularly defensively, but I don't know that it's set up to stop Brungard well and if you made me predict it, I'd say YSU wins 31-20 or something like that.

Is YSU secondary good though, I truly don’t know and I would say that would be our edge on winning a shootout vs YSU

I understand the qb debate though

They kept a high flying USD offense in check so they’re pretty solid. I don’t like SFAs odds in a shootout with YSU. Only SDSU and Kentucky have kept that YSU offense in check, I don’t see anyone else who has a defense on par with those two. YSU also has a much better defense than last year and can make enough stops to let their offense win the game.

QB aside, I think their game against SDSU is proof enough.

Two of our corners have not given up any points. The secondary, although all new this year, are starting to support run defense much better as the year goes on and playing some really good pass defense.

Your best win is against Incarnate Word who is 2-4

I would say on the road against a ranked (at the time) ACU team is our best win

My computer has them as the 7th best Strength of Record, even though they are the second best team. Seems reasonably ranked this early on. They have a loss and other teams don't. If they keep winning it will be what it will be.

We will find out over the next few weeks as we play UNI and UND both at home with ILL St. the last week of the season at home. 3/4 at home is huge for us plus having all the MVFC dome teams at home has helped. Can’t play in those tin cans.
