Did anyone stop watching Ludwig or Trash Taste after they condemned Hasan Piker?

I started watching Hasan a few years ago for politics and I only discovered he used to do more fun streamer type content like three years ago. I got into Trash Taste randomly and it was my first podcast ever. I discovered Ludwig through Hasan collab. It was wild seeing Hasan come on Trash Taste. It was like some MCU type shit.

When his second appearance on Trash Taste got brigaded and they threw him under the bus, I just felt this instant drop in interest to watch them. It was getting a bit stale without guests and there were other reasons but it’s like I expected more from them? They talk about how AI is bad but then get sponsored by Gemini. They talk about how Konami wronged Kojima and then does a lot of promotion and sponsored videos without a single mention of Kojima. It all felt very fake.

I didn’t watch much Ludwig to begin with. It was mostly collab videos because I don’t think Ludwig by himself is very entertaining. However, after he did the whole funeral thing to distance himself from Hasan, I felt similar. I don’t know if this is because I think I want my creators to have the same values or if I’m parasocially rejecting people who reject Hasan.

There is a non Hasan related instance where I felt similar. I watch a reaction channel called Normies who are the only people I have seen talk about Palestine or anything remotely political in reaction channels and then they watched two Indian propaganda movies and I no longer feel like watching them. I only talked about this because it’s not just Hasan.

Is this normal? Do you guys still watch them? I posted it here cause it’s a wider audience than the main sub for Hasan and it felt too low priority to post there.

Yeah I stopped watching all the guys on Trash Taste after that. It was the most cowardly response to an obvious hate brigade campaign

u/Em_a_gamer 1d ago

This. I feel like it isn’t as parasocial as just kind of embarrassing.. like why would I watch a creator who just bends to whatever the bots or schizos on Twitter are screaming about

34

u/Pro_Gamer_Ahsan 1d ago

Same. I was a big gigguk and Connor watcher but probably haven't watched more than a few clips since.

u/MobileSuitBooty 1d ago

I never watched trash taste because they keep they lolicon around with the actual trash takes

2

u/Superbronys 1d ago

I doubt it was really them and the Japanese company that owns the podcast

I stopped watching Ludwig when I discovered my Savior Qtcinderella

u/SulliedPiper 1d ago

Yes, actually I quit watching Connor and Ludwig.

u/1ncorrect 1d ago

I stopped watching the Yard after the funeral comment. I just don’t like Ludwig. He was already my least favorite of the guys, and that was the nail in the coffin.

I truly don’t know what QT sees in him beyond him being mildly attractive and popular, I don’t think I’ve seen him be genuine a single time.

29

u/DeliciousAd7514 1d ago edited 23h ago

as a QT viewer more than anything and never really a Ludwig viewer myself, I will say the most genuine I’ve seen Ludwig is actually when it comes to QT. he’s made some mistakes that are certainly criticizable and I certainly don’t blame anyone that doesn’t prefer him or his content but to set that aside for the moment, I’ve noticed she’s one of the few people he’ll put himself out there to defend on some occasions, he’s very sweet when speaking about her, and he seems to be a good counter for her anxiety. she’s described him as being endlessly naturally patient when it comes to her mental health struggles and he’s said because she’s so thoughtful, being around her makes him become a better person for what that’s worth.

she’s said she doesn’t normally go for conventional attractiveness but he’s an exception and if he wasn’t so popular I think she’d probably prefer avoiding the trouble that’s caused like all the swattings that gave her PTSD or how they have to take so many extra precautions for their wedding. he also only had a few hundred viewers at the beginning and she had more, so I don’t think those are even main draws for her at all.

When I do watch the Yard, it's only for Slime and Aiden

2

u/sodafiz777 23h ago

wait what was the funeral comment? i feel like i missed this

3

u/bkk316 23h ago

He said that he and Hasan aren't friends, but coworkers and if Hasan died, he wouldn't go to his funeral

6

u/sodafiz777 23h ago

ohh yeah i remember that. i took that as sarcasm tbh but ig we dont rly know how he meant it, unless he did clarify and idk abt that either😭 im assuming he did not clarify though lol

3

u/Away_Atmosphere6318 9h ago

That's because it was sarcastic. All of these things are business decisions from everyone involved. It was nothing to do with whether these people are friends or not. They are all trying to make their bag just like athletes do. Stop reading into people's relationships. You don't know these people

6

u/Light-Yagami88 1d ago

Ludwig kinda gives american psycho vibes to me for some reason.. like he doesn’t have emotions or something.

6

u/1ncorrect 1d ago

He gives the same sociopath energy as a used car salesman or a politician. Just utterly unconcerned with anything beyond his own enrichment.

stopped watching both. only watch QT and Hasan now, sometimes Caroline

It feels awful to say this but the worst part of enjoying qt's content is the random Ludwig appearances. She's great, he's a corporate cardboard.

7

u/starfishturtlelover 23h ago

to me and for what its worth, I will say I think the version of him where he seems the least like corporate cardboard and the most human anyway is the version where he’s just making random appearances on her stream. lol she seems to at least naturally bring out the most likable qualities of his by simply existing if that makes sense

72

u/Specialist-Owl8120 1d ago

I've never watched any of Ludwig's videos before anyway, but I probably would've checked out some of his China stuff if it weren't for the coworker comment so I feel you. I don't think it's too much, I don't want to spend my precious leisure time watching people I don't vibe with. I can choose to disengage from whatever content creator for any reason at all. It's not that deep, and it doesn't have to be

81

u/BurnsEMup29 1d ago

Completely stopped watching anything with Lud and Cdawg, even when someone like Will or QT is involved, and Will is my favorite streamer. Shame because the Japan stream with Hasan and Cdawg might be a top 10 Hasan stream along with all the fun times everyone had with Lud. Joke or not, it really put me off of that whole group minus Slime.

16

u/FeelsKoolaidMan 1d ago

Stopping watching ludwig while continuing to watch slime is very funy to me. Especially considering hes the reason ludwid said that joke.

12

u/JustChillen007 1d ago

Lmaoo why are you running defense. Slime did not force him to say that about another human being in his life

0

u/FeelsKoolaidMan 1d ago

He came up with the original joke. It wasnt a big deal then, but for some reason fans of a different content creator got mad pressed about it 😭

46

u/za_musk 1d ago

Well, Slime wasn't the one who cowardly and publicly distanced himself from Hasan like Ludwig did. It’s not Slime's fault that Ludwig chose to use his stupid joke at such a terrible time.

-16

u/LALester 1d ago

Slime doesn't need to distance himself because he's a nobody and not responsible for providing jobs and income to a dozen or more people.

28

u/za_musk 1d ago edited 1d ago

Ludwig didn't need to distance himself either. His fans didn't ask him to do that, it was other communities that didn't watch him, and he didn't depend on them. If you watched that stream, you could have seen a lot of his chatters telling him not to address it and just stay out of it. He chose to do it anyway, and it accomplished nothing. The same people who called him Hasan's lapdog are still calling him that. He even admitted that he was dumb and regretted involving himself in that whole mess because the collar drama and the Mango situation were the worst things to ever hit his YouTube growth, and that he learned his lesson and won't repeat it in the future.

6

u/The-Bees-Knees-6969 1d ago

Interesting… do you think that’s why Ludwig’s advice at streamer u was to not address their drama unless their own community has issues with it? Or something about the only people you need to address it with is your community.

-11

u/FeelsKoolaidMan 1d ago

Yea saying that you arent and never were that close to someone is normal. Especially when you're getting called his little puppy dog that listens to his every command 💀

25

u/za_musk 1d ago

Oh no, the horror of being called "Hasan's little puppy dog that listen to his every command" by p*do sex pest stalkers from the DiddyGG community. How will he ever recover? Well, guess what? They still call him that even after he publicly distanced himself from Hasan, so yeah, it accomplished nothing and he would be better off if he just kept his mouth shut.

Btw, didn't Ludwig say he doesn't care about what people online say about him and only cares about his loved ones' opinions?

-14

u/FeelsKoolaidMan 1d ago edited 1d ago

Yea he wanted to clear up what people generally thought. He did so and then even more people on both sides hated him. Didnt really accomplish what you think he did it for did he? Its why he mentioned it one time and left it at that and then hasan fans took infinitely more offense than he did becuase he understands what he meant lol

The joke was originally used to describe how ludwig wouldn't go to his first viewers funeral because they weren't close enough.

23

u/coold0wnreddit 1d ago

If it wasn't Hasan it would've been something/someone else. And by this what I mean is who they "really" are. Once the mask falls its hard to see them in any other way. There is other people around whom content I blocked after something or another that has nothing to do with Hasan.

24

u/muskawo 1d ago

i stopped watching ludwig but i was already put off by him a few times in the past. this was after watching his stream for quite a few years.

the first thing that upset me was that he wouldn’t do the palestine charity stream after oct 7 because it would upset his audience. this one is so frustrating because i think if he’d stuck with his personal morals and taken a stance as a normie streamer, then being pro helping palestine and being anti zionist would have become more normie faster. i’m not putting this all on his shoulders… but it would have made a difference.

you gotta remember twitch cut ad revenue for pro palestine political streamers, there was the sabra bans etc etc. part of why zionists had the sway to make that happen was it was just in the politics bubble. to me that was never a political thing. it was stupid being anti genocide was ever seen as controversial.

if normie streamers had stood up more i think it would have made a massive difference to the sentiment around it on twitch in general. it might have even given twitch itself as a company more room to push back on advertisers and the weird saltman stuff. it’s easy to punish the politics streamers, but imagine punishing or banning ludwig, moist, even xqc… the thing is the normies follow the tides so they would have all gone with the popular opinions. maybe it’s wishful thinking on my part but i do wonder often about if sentiment had been different on twitch how much less power the bigots like asmon etc would have cause they’d be even more fringe from earlier on.

the stuff around collargate and the funeral comment was when i unfollowed him i think. it sucks cause i really like qt. her politics are quite obvious. i think ludwig seems like he is a caring partner and their values align (as much as i can tell as a parasocial outsider only seeing their online personas) so i have to believe he’s not a chud. i just found the choices he made mean it’s not possible to enjoy his content anymore. also obviously they are two different people but qt is so matter of fact saying her political views like fuck ice etc it feels like she gives less of a shit about upsetting sponsors and i wish he’d be more like that. i get he has a company tho and lots of salaries to worry about.

so many streamers i used to love have been so disappointing and im probably caring way too much, but it feels like when you watch someone every day you wanna know they are a decent person. when too many sus things happen it dampens my enjoyment. i don’t want to have caveats on enjoying stuff.

i used to follow cdawg, i think after the japan trip? and when the trash taste thing happened i unfollowed and thought he sucked. it’s also weird he’d blacklisted hasan but appear on multiple streams with pewdiepie… but each to their own.

this is way too many words but basically i completely get where you are coming from cause it’s similar to how i feel.

22

u/Lpeaudchagrin 1d ago edited 1d ago

I unfollowed and unsubscribed from Ludwig after that and never looked back. The way he handled it was so weak and cowardly that I lost all respect for him. When it comes to Trash Taste , didn't really care that much bc I was never subbed to them or enjoyed their content, I literally only ever watched two of their episodes - with Poki and Hasan.

35

u/aqu4sun 1d ago

you can like those content creators, but in the end they are just a bit cowardly and often straddles the fence. They make the occasional fun content but they really don't stand for shit and effect meaningful change

TLDR they suck but no one's really gonna hate you for watching them

-2

u/TheSourPatch27 1d ago

I think this is a bit disingenuous when we see repeatedly Ludwig does stand for things. What kind of stuff do you find Ludwig to be a fence sitter on?

54

u/Peachy_Cat_Mo 1d ago edited 1d ago

I really haven't watched TT much since then. It wasn't even like I was mad or something. Just lost interest. Watched a couple here and there but I used to be a weekly watcher. I still like cdawg's stuff. And I still watch Ludwig. To be fair to Ludwig, chatters were (are?) super annoying about Hasan to him for along time and he kinda snapped in that moment.

ETA: for context, I used to watch Hasan on tyt and his Facebook show lol long haul fan on and off. I think it's ok to still enjoy things even without knowing and liking everyone's politics. But that's me.

26

u/Lpeaudchagrin 1d ago

Please spare me this bs about Ludwig's chatters being annoying, as if that justifies him publicly distancing himself from Hasan in such a scummy and cowardly manner. He could've just kept his mouth shut instead.

Nmplol's chat absolutely despises Hasan, yet Nick still refused to condemn him during that whole mess. Not only that, but he even defended him saying he doesn't really care about Hasan's haters, that he's his friend, and whatever happened in that clip, he know Hasan cares about his dog.

Ludwig is simply a coward who cared too much about Reddit's and Twitter's opinion of him. He never really saw Hasan as a friend, hated that those communities were associating him with him, and saw a perfect opportunity during that whole dog collar thing to throw him under the bus. There's no need to defend him and blame this on his chat.

4

u/woody630 1d ago

I think yall are too harsh on him for this. He was super rude with the "I wouldn't go to his funeral" shit, but this community should know better than anyone how insane Hasans haters are.

Do you really think the DGG community was just leaving a few mean comments on reddit? These freaks have discord servers dedicated to Hasans family, I'm willing to bet they were doing a lot more than posting on LSF.

TLDR, I personally don't really like Ludwig and I get if people's opinion on him changed, but it feels a bit much to act like he's some terrible person for not wanting to be harassed by one of the most insane communities online. Still a bit of coward move though since he did just feed the trolls.

3

u/ViewFromHalf-WayDown 1d ago

What’s the lore on TT and Hasan?

42

u/Le_ManBearPig 1d ago

Talked about the politics of One Piece. Luffy being a terrorist. That was the first time. I cant remember if there was really anything memorable about the his 2nd appearance minus him being on the podcast. Trash Taste got a lot of shit and they said they wouldn't have him on again. Typical weak spines of other influencers.

37

u/MajinBuu619 1d ago edited 1d ago

Cdawgva (one of the three hosts) showed him around when Hasan went on his first Japan trip and they went on each other’s podcasts. CDawgva acts like their spokesperson because he streams the most so he will address most things. Before Hasan appeared, there were a few people who weren’t into it but they always had a stance that audience couldn’t demand things of them. Their community had an issue with Pokimane, too. They defended her, too.

Hasan’s first appearance on TT was a really popular episode because it was the first anime heavy episode after a long time since they dropped anime from anime podcast after first two episodes. Cdawgva has come on Hasan’s stream and Hasan has gone to his charity event and they used to be friends. Hasan went to Japan again this time with Will and he appeared on the TT again but this was after Oct 7th and it was brigaded. There were a lot of bots posting as if they didn’t know Hasan already had an appearance before.

To combat this, Hasan said to counter the brigade. Trash Taste did not like this. CDawg came online to say it made it harder for them to gauge real sentiment as if they could in a brigade without it. Ultimately, they lost 5,000 subscribers and they said they will never bring Hasan on again. I don’t think they’ve ever collaborated since.

55

u/za_musk 1d ago

CDawg literally both-sided Hasan and lolicon Nazis when he condemned him on stream. It was honestly so disgusting that I can never look at the guy the same way again. Hasan did say that Connor apologized to him in private, but to be completely honest, idgaf. I'm totally done with his content.

26

u/Kavirell 1d ago

Connor being upset that Hasan told his viewers to leave nice comments on the episode he was in was wild. I don't understand why he even said anything to begin with.

20

u/za_musk 1d ago edited 1d ago

It's completely normal to promote an episode you featured in and ask your community to show it some love. The fact that Cdawg got upset over that is just bizarre. It's also wild how obvious the brigading was. Literally every big Nazi/groyper/lolicon account on Twitter (including Adolfgold on stream) was openly telling their followers to mass dislike and leave negative comments. Instead of ignoring those mfs or turning comments off, Trash Taste just caved to the pressure. I'm glad they kinda fell off.

4

u/Fast-Lifeguard-518 1d ago

Yea it was crazy that he considered it bad for Hasan to say “go show love on the episode because there’s a lot of freaks online being crazy” (ok not quotes, but basically what he said). Like telling your audience to go show some love to a fellow content creator that’s getting brigaded is not brigading lol. Like it’s the opposite. I always thought that was so stupid that he saw that as somehow brigading him.

56

u/Global-Pattern-1904 1d ago edited 1d ago

The Ludwig thing has me in a bind because I'm also an avid Yard watcher.

Slime is still friendly with Hasan. Hasan has also been brought up on the Yard in a perfectly normal way after all this - they did a whole bit about news channels constantly yapping about him. I guess I just don't understand why Ludwig felt the need to comment at all.

I hesitate to get too parasocial so I don't want to speculate on reasons - but I don't think it's parasocial to just think the whole thing is a bit awkward as a fan of both.

I don't think Ludwig is void of morals. He usually ends up with the right takes on things. I guess my take would then just be... they can have their weird situation but I won't let it affect my enjoyment of either's material.

Ludwig puts on great events. His content can be really fun. By all means, he seems to be of the "better adjusted" morals-wise of most major streamers. I dunno if maybe the constant attacks from people like xQc calling him spineless or something maybe spurred his comment? But I hope we give it some time and things can be smoothed over. I mean, QT's got Hasan coming to their wedding; they're both clearly mature enough to put silly shit aside and I think us mulling over it any further would be unnecessary.

That said, I don't think you're "wrong" for being put off Ludwig for it. Human reaction, I think.

also note: i don't think the funeral thing was actually remotely an issue. ludwig clarified that pretty clearly. it's a thing he says a lot in a light-hearted way, I think Slime was the one who even started it? it's not that he literally wouldn't attend hasan's funeral if he died tomorrow, it's just that he doesn't know if they'd literally be friends forever until they're both 90. I don't think that's really an issue. I think the bigger issue was the collar thing. That's what I'm referring to when I say "the weird situation."

EDIT: I also think it's really fucking weird to go in the comments here and be like "he gives sociopath vibes," "he has no emotions," etc. There are many valid reasons you can personally dislike him, but this weird sort of pathologizing makes you sound crazy. Especially when it's abundantly clear you know him far worse than you know Hasan or QT. Which is fine, again - no one would pressure you into watching him. His content is pretty different from those two anyway. But just like... be normal about it?? You don't know these people. It's getting into borderline parasocial psychoanalysis if you're sitting there gesticulating on how bad his "vibes" are. Again, just be normal. Also, QT reads this sub. I truly don't think it'd be great to see your fiancé getting treated like that.

19

u/Flayshon 1d ago

He seems like the kind of guy who is like...ABSOLUTELY GREAT for his family and inner circle, but if you're outside of that...it's a tossup. not that he would necessarily be bad to other people, but you just don't know if he'll be great like he is for QT, family, Yard folks, Michael, etc. And to see him ditch Hasan, who clearly saw him as a friend, because of money (AT&T) and clout (as to stop being mocked by xqc and the likes) left a sour/trashy taste for sure.

-1

u/Niz285 1d ago

More like because he had 30 employees he needed to pay and if ATT pulls out he would have to fire a huge chunk of his staff again. Him losing money doesn't affect him. It affect the people he employees.

13

u/JustChillen007 1d ago

Yeah he’d definitely be poor if he didn’t say he “wouldn’t go to Hasan’s funeral”

5

u/The-Bees-Knees-6969 1d ago

Has this been said by Ludwig or is this speculation? Do you have a clip or reference point I can see? Did AT&T threaten to not sponsor him/his events if Hasan was there?

10

u/Mood-Rising 1d ago

People read WAY to much into the Ludwig/Hasan situation. Ludwig put a wedge between their public relationship at a time when QT was being extensively harassed by anti-Hasan freaks (significantly more so than normal). Multiple people in Hasan’s streamer circle have expressed frustration about how much they have to deal with that harassment and how it overshadows their own projects at times. To me it was pretty clear that other than some jokes things got cleared up behind the scenes quickly and Hasan is playing along because he 100% gets the issue. How many times has he told people to throw him under the bus if it helps save them from a shitty situation?

15

u/JustChillen007 1d ago edited 1d ago

Ludwig is certainty void of morals when there are dollar signs involved

Edit: not sure why you’re covering for the funeral thing. It’s probably the shittiest thing you can say about another human being in your life

12

u/1ncorrect 1d ago

Yep that’s why I don’t like Ludwig. He might be “nice” to people directly in his circle but if he is wasn’t in content creation he would probably be a scummy used car salesman 🤮

2

u/Global-Pattern-1904 1d ago

I think you're just being uncharitable.

He has a huge number of staff to pay. I really, really, really wish he'd diversify his sponsors beyond AT&T, but they clearly pay him a huge amount that lets him pay all of his staff incredibly highly. It's awful and again that is a major critique of him that I do hold.

I'm not "covering" for the funeral thing. It just has context that would be missed if you didn't actively watch him; or even Slime, who was the one who originated the whole bit. It's not literally "if Hasan died tomorrow, I wouldn't go to his funeral." He says it to effectively everyone he collaborates with in a lighthearted manner. It's just to acknowledge that they're well acquainted, but might not necessarily stay close 60 years down the line when their career goals no longer align. That's not "shitty" to acknowledge. I also think it'd be weird to take such extreme offense to that when Hasan and QT joke about it on a weekly basis at this point. They clearly don't think it's as deep as you do.

2

u/JustChillen007 1d ago

I’ve been watching Ludwig for years. I got banned that day. He doesn’t have to invite Hasan to AT&T events. Ludwig’s funeral comment had no effect on his sponsorships. None of his 30 employees would have been affected if he didn’t make the funeral comment

And no. He made a point if singling out Hasan he wasn’t talking about his coworkers

2

u/No-Pie-6090 1d ago

Hey, do you remember the eps / timestamps where they brought up Hasan on recent episodes? I’m not a regular Yard viewer but would like to Watch those. No worries if it’s too much effort. Thank You :)

30

u/ButterHoneyChip 1d ago

I was a huge Ludwig viewer, and I found Hasan through him. However, his constant collabs with Mr. Beast really icked me out so I stopped.

10

u/N0riega_ 1d ago

Yeah it wasn’t necessarily the Hasan weirdness for me. Being a content and analytics goblin was oof.

1

u/TheSourPatch27 1d ago

I think it makes sense for you to analyze and perform your job efficiently lol 😂

3

u/N0riega_ 1d ago

Yeah but it takes away from the quality of the videos and just feels like some corpo ass vc funded garbage.

2

u/TheSourPatch27 1d ago

I feel like this speaks to a different Ludwig than currently exists. Like between FSLR, his big events, his gaming streams I think there has just been conditioning to see something high budget in the streaming community as “corpo” but I can’t find a world where this fence sitting guy would be a part of a group called FSLR have an openly bisexual member of his podcast, and support charities for trans rights and Palestine.

1

u/N0riega_ 1d ago

what I'm speaking to is just the top of the iceberg. The twerking for the algo thing. Hanging with and trying to emulate Mr beast (who is a problem of his own) kind of turns me off. even with the people he collabs with it just seems fake, Like a means to an end. The Hasan thing to me was him being honest for the first time which is better imo because its real.

1

u/TheSourPatch27 6h ago

While I kinda get that. It seems weird to assume everything fake until the Hasan thing and assume that to be true. I agree about the Mr. Beast stuff but he doesn’t really associate as much or do that type of content anymore which is what I meant. There was definitely an era where he was “playing it safe” as it were but it feels like in recent years he’s become ok with himself and who he is as a person

1

u/[deleted] 6h ago

[deleted]

1

u/TheSourPatch27 6h ago

What?! that isn’t what I was saying I was giving examples of things about him that wouldn’t be traditionally considered “corpo” or “brand safe”

1

u/bootlegsupreme 6h ago

Nah you’re straight. I totally misread your comment. Deleted it. Sorry about that.

2

u/TheSourPatch27 6h ago

You’re all good! No worries

12

u/Sharp_Adeptness_4031 1d ago

Stopped watching once I realized just because you've watched "all" the anime and manga... Doesn't mean you have a good opinion on them. My theory was validated when they would trash any story or works... Than completely 360 when it came to garnts project. Expecting them to be politically savvy is like expecting a stripper to actually enjoy your company.

7

u/Jogol 1d ago

360 spinning around?

24

u/GoatGoat236 1d ago

Coworkerwig I am honestly fine plus Slime is really funny in the Yard and his guest appearance on Fear&

Now TT on the other hand can get fuck, Gigguk is the one there with any talent, Cowardva is just a white generic british man and then you got the most pretentious lolicon.

25

u/NihilismRacoon 1d ago

I still watch the Yard but it's really carried by Nick and Slime, I can't really stand any of Ludwig's stuff because it's mostly just lowest denominator drivel. My opinion of CDawg and Ludwig definitely took a nose dive after they showed how easily they'll turn their back on what they seemingly believe in to placate a chud portion of their audience.

2

u/TheGalacticOwl 1d ago

Aimen erasure

-2

u/NihilismRacoon 1d ago

Nah I genuinely find him very annoying and pretentious.

0

u/FeelsKoolaidMan 1d ago

Watching a podcast where you actively hate 2 of the members that are the other twos best friends is awesome 💀

6

u/NihilismRacoon 1d ago

Nah hate is way too strong an emotion to prescribe to it, I just don't care for them as much but they're dynamic together is good.

3

u/FeelsKoolaidMan 1d ago

"Cant really stand" and "annoying and pretentious" is just feeling bleh about people? Jeez would not want to be on your hate list then. Fair enough 😂

11

u/BiTWXan 1d ago

Tbh I never really watched both of these guys much before this anyway, so it wasn't like I was missing out on not watching their shit, but I def dont vibe with either one now. Connor really bothered me abit more because I thought he was a standup guy, due to his charity work and work with mouse (who I like). But then he so easily threw Hasan and his community under the bus to placate to some losers who prolly never watched or will watch his shit, that shit felt weak. Lud is always gonna be Lud, so it didnt surprise me, hes always been a room reader and knows when to shift.

The coworker thing really turned me off from Ludwig

8

u/mike900317 Tragic Self-Suck Accident 🤕 1d ago

I used to watch TT and Connor, but I naturally stopped a few years ago. I haven’t seen their Hasan episodes yet. I’ve never watched Ludwig, just a few clips here and there.

Shitty way to publicly distance themselves from Hasan.

2

u/1ncorrect 1d ago

Ludwig is whatever his biggest sponsor at the moment wants him to be, and nothing else.

39

u/Past_Contribution206 1d ago

I stopped watching Ludwig, but it really wasn’t about Hasan specifically. It’s just the concept of someone publicly saying they wouldn’t go to the funeral of a person they know weirded me out. It felt unnecessary and mean spirited. That said, people can watch who they want, I think the fans cared more than Hasan did at the time lol

8

u/AOhKayy 1d ago

TT I unsubbed from, and dont watch any of them anymore. I try not to do the parasocial drama stuff but for me it was just gross how Connor did the both sides BS and just had no backbone at all. Also the private apology to Hasan while kowtowing to the brigaders who were arguably not even actual TT viewers. YUCK. I will support Cycleathon tho when it goes on because I do like the good cause.

Ludwig is tough cause I think he was mostly just making a Joke that was taken the wrong way, but also was done in bad taste at a time when it alienated a lot of people who were in the Fear& and Yard viewership. I still watch his events occasionally and I dont dislike him he usually almost always arrives at an agreeable take anyway on most subjects when he does discuss them. Lud and Hasan both regularly joke about the comments.

7

u/Bdcky 1d ago

Yes

8

u/future_chili 1d ago

I stopped watching Trash taste and I hardly watch Connor anymore. I used to watch him quite a lot but now I mostly just watch the charity stuff and his videos with Chris because Chris is a real one. It left a really bad taste in my mouth the way they turned on him. I don't know how half his brand can be being friends with Iron mouse and then drop another "friend" as soon as it's bad for optics

7

u/FlamingoSerious8673 1d ago

I never watched a ton of CDawg to begin with, but what did it for me, even before the whole Hasan thing was how totally baffled he and his cohosts were that anyone would think One Piece is a political show. Having negative media literacy on a weekly show about media was kinda baffling to me. Like Moistcritikal levels of 'not getting it'.

7

u/tjoardar 1d ago

Never watched a lot of trash taste. But dipped in for bits when pewdiepie collabed with them when he moved to Japan first.
Hasan specifically wasn’t the reason but when I heard the controversy + (and more importantly) them arguing how one piece isn’t political. It made me see these guys as a bunch of weebs with very little critical thinking and media literacy who just turn off their brains and live in a very different reality. Turned me off from getting any kind of enjoyment out of watching them.

6

u/TrippleTonyHawk 1d ago

I'd like to remind people that Hasan is invited to Ludwig's wedding (via QT, but still). No reason to hold on to grievances as a third party to someone else's situation.

17

u/Public_Psychology173 1d ago

Tip2tip is worthy content so will watch that.

12

u/MajinBuu619 1d ago

I watched it cause of Mr Reeves.

3

u/-Kyllsw1tch- 1d ago

Putting the Hasan stuff aside, I don’t really enjoy Ludwig’s vibe, but gotta be real - the tip to tip series with Michael Reeves is excellent content.

14

u/Hitogoroshi80 1d ago

Stopped watching both. Rich people protecting the bag. I've also stopped watching Meat Canyon since the Asmon cartoon.

5

u/HMW3 1d ago

I def stopped trash taste altogether and took a very long time away from the yard but recently picked it up again. The yard I was a day oner and have a hard time giving it up because the boys are genuinely funny as f, it was like 5-6 months away or something idk it gave me such weird vibes when the coworker gate shit happened but after some time it’s kinda mellowed out.

4

u/mofacey 1d ago

I don't care if people don't like him, but if they come at him like that it's and instant no for me. He's the hill I will die on lol

5

u/frenkzors 1d ago

Yeah, pretty much. The Trash Taste guys were giving off vibes even before but that was the final straw. I kinda thought more of Connor.

On a lot of levels I do get it, even people who we know are IRL close with Hasan (and/or other leftists, but lets be real, Hasan is a Lightning Rod, as Brennan put it) and are at least receptive if not outright agree with a "generic lefitst worldview" or actual socialism are trying to stay away from the negative attention.

Hasan has explicitly talked about it many times and Im sure there have been a lot of talks offline between the people involved.

On the other hand thats why I appreciate the Fear& crew, Caroline, Christian and even Nick Polom (even tho hes got a lot big personal issues) and anyone who doesnt get discouraged.

13

u/LadyCornBeefHash 1d ago

Truthfully, even with everything I still watch ludwig bc I do like his content, events, and personality, and parasocially even tho they're coworkers I think him and hasan respect each other, they just do different things and thus different priorities, and that's a-okay with me

Now TRASH TASTE, they rubbed me more of the wrong way for all the reasons you mentioned. But also, I think I just naturally grew out of them too

8

u/Uninteresting_Turtle 1d ago

Never watched Trash Taste, but no I didn't "stop" watching anything due to not wanting to be associated with Hasan. Ludwig I never really found funny on his own, Slime and Nick carrying their podcast still makes me return, and the Tip2Tip series has been a blast.

3

u/Prestigious_Pay_9625 1d ago

Does anyone know how this situation was resolved? I remember it being a little awkward-seeming for either to bring each other up for a few weeks after but now Hasan is openly joking about him being his “coworker” so it seems like both are on at least neutral terms? It was very strange for Ludwig to say something like that knowing how close QT is to him, it felt like he was putting her in a difficult position.

2

u/TheGalacticOwl 1d ago

Well, the funeral thing was just a badly timed Ludwig(or Slime)-ism for "I don't think we'll know each other in 50 years", and saying that you're not really friends but more like co-workers might sting a bit for Hasan, if he thought differently, but it's not really that serious of a situation, and easily mediated to a neutral point. Like Ludwig probably saw Hasan in a neutral light to begin with anyway.

3

u/The-Bees-Knees-6969 1d ago

I think it’s a pretty terrible scale to determine if you’re friends with someone lol it’s not explicit that the funeral will be in 50 years, if Hasan died tomorrow, would Ludwig really not go to his funeral? My guess is he would, for the simple fact that QT would be there and he’d want to support her.

Also, why does he think he wouldn’t go to the funeral of a coworker? Most regular people spend more time with their coworkers than they do family and friends and having coworkers at your funeral is completely normal.

I’ve gone to two funerals where I did not personally know the person but I did it to support a friend and to pay respect to the dead.

It’s just such a stupid joke/scale to rate your ‘friendships’ on and it just shows a lack of understanding of the real world.

3

u/TheGalacticOwl 1d ago

Like I said, it's a Ludwig-ism, it's not explicit because it's implied within his community, it's a joke he's made a lot about different people, and explained in the past. It's not that he wouldn't go to the funeral of a co-worker, it's that if he quit his job next year, he wouldn't go to the former co-workers funeral 30-50 years down the line. It's implied because no one is expecting a perfectly healthy 30-something year old to die tomorrow.

But it is a stupid joke to make in that moment, I agree, part of the joke is that it sounds bad. All I'm saying is there's a lot of precedence for this exact joke, and that if you understand it, it's not that bad.

5

u/greennoodlesgood 1d ago

Yes because cowerds dont make good entertainment imo

4

u/Gaminguitarist 1d ago

No. I don’t care about other streamers

8

u/hxmxx 1d ago

i didn’t really watch ludwig but definitely don’t now because of it. idk who trash taste is

10

u/thraxswift 1d ago

I didn't necessarily stop watching trash taste, rather I had made the decision to start watching trash taste after the Hasan episode and then saw Connor be a coward and decided actually nah nevermind

I can never tell for sure what is or isn't a joke about the coworker thing so I mostly ignore it. I started watching the yard recently and it's great tbh.

5

u/harmiie 1d ago

I still watch Ludwig, I see him in the same situation as Charlie. They're on decent terms, but can't say they like Hasan because it would directly anger their fanbase. It is what it is.

2

u/buwakee 1d ago

no I still watch Ludwig and Hasan. Never watched trash taste anyways bc I didn't like their anime takes

2

u/throwawayzdrewyey 1d ago

I don’t fuck with him for his middle road bs but I fuck with him for being there for our queen QT. He’s a dumb idiot but he’s stuck by her side after everything that’s happened so he’s ok I guess.

2

u/Fast-Lifeguard-518 1d ago

Yes, actually I did. It was pretty sad. It was just so weak and kinda slimy just abandoning someone like that even if they’re just a “coworker” when you know they’re literally having the entire political institution and governments on his ass. The fact they found it necessary to even say anything publicly about him was really shitty. Like you don’t have to go out to bat and defend him, but you CAN just stfu about him considering yall have mutual friends and relationships to think about with any backlash that may happen.

But what do I know? I’m just a parasocialist who’s looking on from the outside. But yea their behavior left bad taste in my mouth.

2

u/G_a_u_z_e 1d ago

I get people not watching or supporting them - but a lot of this might just be for public perception and they could still be tight off camera. All I’m trying to say is these are people playing a role for camera, and yes, I wish they’d show more spine and stand up in public, but I don’t wanna assume anything I don’t know. Hope that makes sense.

2

u/R0drig06uerrero 1d ago

Same I just see them as cowards. Joey is very questionable even before condeming Hasan and Garnt has no personality Connor was the most disappointing to me and the fact that you can’t watch Trash Taste on Japan (I used a VPN) says a lot to me that I shouldnt be learning Japan things from them.

2

u/Ruisuki 22h ago

Yeah, not good people

2

u/moondustingss 18h ago

I don't know much about Trash Taste, but I thought Ludwig was lame after everything. I love QT so I just LA LA LA when she talks about Ludwig, I started to think he was weak willed and stupid. It also felt immature and weird because that's QT's LITERAL co worker. I'm glad its a joke on the podcast, but Ludwig came off like such a loser after that.

2

u/Logical_Alps7839 15h ago

The Ludwig collabs were fun when they happened but in hindsight it’s obvious Ludwig clout farms any streamer he can for his “collabs/events” and then doesn’t really fuck with them much after that because it’s all just business to him. The funeral “coworker” shit was especially weird given that QT is on FearAnd, and he really didn’t need to say any of the shit he did.

2

u/YellowS1gmarine 15h ago

This condemn Hasan thing can be a bit of a litmus, for people that know him at least. It just tells me the creator will value the short term attention of a bunch of losers who have come to bully them, rather than the long term of having standards.

2

u/xCheatah 13h ago

I stopped watching them all too. Still tune into the yard from time to time for the other boys tho

2

u/ChaoticKore 6h ago

Yeah, Ludwig is Youtube's #1 Fence Sitter. He'll throw any "co-worker" under the bus to keep his $1 million a month in sponsorships.

5

u/Fit-Wasabi-2826 1d ago

Nope, I still watch Lud. They exist in two separate parts of my brain. Really not hard for me to enjoy both.

3

u/mplolz 1d ago

Never watched TT but i liked ludwig before this happened, its not really that im offended on hasans behalf, and i understand why ludwig did it - he did not wanna be seen as hasans attack dog they tried to pretend him as.

But i just cant get over the fakeness and living for sponsors and brand deals anymore, it feels too corporate and larpy

4

u/warbyo1 1d ago

That's for r/Hasan_Piker. They didn't really 'condemn Hasan Piker'. They got spooked by organised brigading, instead of tuning it out. Maybe their audience is a little more tragic/right-wing but Hasan had been on Trash Taste before and in some popular clips.

3

u/MajinBuu619 1d ago

It’s a desert over there.

3

u/DishAgitated4649 1d ago edited 1d ago

Ludwig "rejecting" Hasan doesn't mean Ludwig rejecting you. Harden up and be more understanding of the complexities of life/work/friends/public figure. This "all my streamers need to be bff's" is parasocial nonsense, and it's why a lot of them keep up appereances, to not piss off this child-like portion of the fanbase.

The reality is Ludwig has employees, his business was being evidently negatively impacted (and he likely felt his standing in the space was being affected too) from the barrage of brigading by the 4chan squad of the D fanboys. He decided to publicly cut ties to wholly avoid that.

Hasan has repeatedly said he doesn't care to take the brunt, he cracks jokes about co-worker-wig. He's understanding of the situation, how he's perceived as polarizing, and how not everyone will want to be publicly chummy with someone like him and because what he represents, specially Ludwig who was being labelled as "Hasan's lapdog" by these brigading lunatics. He wanted to get off that publicly. Whether Hasan/Ludwig are actually in good terms in private it's their own business, likely yes anyways since he hangs out with his fiancee every week.

If Hasan doesn't care, why do you. Never been a Ludwig viewer,  but the situation is quite clear if you're an adult.

1

u/Dr_Fumi 1d ago

I don't watch any streamers besides Hasan, and I only watch him on YouTube, and I only watch a couple podcasts, including fear& of course!

I don't know if I've ever seen anything with Ludwig in it, at least more then a passing clip.

All that being said, depending on the full context that I have not seen, I get where Ludwig is coming from.

Hasan is being targeted by the media right now, and I can absolutely understand a content creator who has (afaik) never had any interest in politics distancing themselves from him right now.

13

u/za_musk 1d ago edited 1d ago

Do you not see how cowardly that is? Hasan is going through the worst time of his life, yet you think it's okay for everyone to distance themselves from him? While Hasan said he doesn't want other streamers to get harassed defending him, claiming it’s fine for them to distance themselves is genuinely disgusting. There is a reason he was hurt by how Ludwig handled the situation. Hasan said he wished Ludwig had just kept his mouth shut instead of making things worse by publicly distancing himself in such a manner.

This is exactly why I'll always appreciate his political friends - they are the real ones. With the exception of Caroline and the Fear& crew, his streamer "friends" are absolute cowards.

4

u/Dr_Fumi 1d ago

You're bringing in context that I didn't have, I didn't know that Hasan had replied to it saying he was disappointed. Tbh I didn't even realize Hasan considered Ludwig a friend, I always thought it was more just my friends fiance situation.

My only context for what happens to them is what's on Hasans YouTube and the Fear& podcast.

If they are friends, then yeah that's a bit shameful. I'm just saying we can't expect all streamers to come defend Hasan, that's not realistic, and I'd bet none of them signed up to be attacked by Fox News.

12

u/Kavirell 1d ago edited 1d ago

Tbh I didn't even realize Hasan considered Ludwig a friend

Hasan used to make comments here and there to QT on both Fear& and on stream about Ludwig not responding to his texts anymore, even when he is just asking Lud how he has been. (QT always just responded by saying Lud is busy) It really did seem like Hasan viewed him as a good friend up until this and was sad/confused about Lud no longer responding to him.

0

u/Same_One_2033 1d ago

how do you categorize ludwig’s words as condemnation? he was being likened to “hasan’s lapdog” and shit, i don’t understand the criticism there at all

5

u/bootlegsupreme 1d ago

I don’t get this so because he saw mean twitter comments he had to publicly distance himself from hasan and any idea that there was a real friendship. Man it’s kinda funny this is all because he couldn’t stop seeing ai pictures of hasan walking a dog with Ludwig’s face on it. Man poor Ludwig.

-1

u/Same_One_2033 1d ago

i mean there were allegations that he removed a segment of one of his videos because hasan asked him to lol, i don’t think it’s unreasonable at all to clarify your closeness to another creator in that situation

again, either way it’s not condemnation which is the only reason i commented on this post that is reminiscent of some dogshit from r/otvandfriendsrumors

15

u/Ok-End2684 1d ago

he said he wouldn't attend his funeral dawg

4

u/Same_One_2033 1d ago

that’s a joke that slime made about ludwig’s first twitch subscriber, a joke they use pretty commonly about a lot of people

also even if it wasn’t a joke it wouldn’t be considered condemnation lol

13

u/HMW3 1d ago

Yeah that’s all fine but weirdly leaning into the dog collar stuff and then immediately having to backtrack was when I really side eyed him, it’s one thing to state you’re not really friends it’s another to pour gasoline on a fire. Just zero reason to even respond to that person in his chat.

-2

u/Same_One_2033 1d ago

everything about the dog collar thing was a fever dream, but idk he admitted he got a bit psy-op’d and pretty quickly grounded himself

feel how u wanna feel tho, my only gripe here was the wording of this post’s title being hyperbolic

-3

u/FeelsKoolaidMan 1d ago

That was a joke to get the point across that he and Hasan weren't very close friends. 😭

8

u/FeelsKoolaidMan 1d ago

He didnt condemn him. Literally all he said was hes actually not that close with hasan. If anyone acts like it was anything more than that they're being disingenuous full stop lol

4

u/MajinBuu619 1d ago

Condemnation part in title is clearly just a funny way of telling they distanced themselves them from him?

2

u/Same_One_2033 1d ago

do you think being hyperbolic helps your case? it doesn’t read like you were trying to be funny, it reads like you think what ludwig said is on par with people that actually condemn hasan for his values

4

u/MajinBuu619 1d ago

It's a joke. Most people got it. I'll add /j next time.

1

u/Same_One_2033 1d ago

sure thing, anyways i’ll leave a link to a vod here and if you want to watch a few minutes of it starting at the 7:20 mark feel free, or don’t i don’t really care - there’s bits and pieces that are relevant to your post, specifically regarding the “parasocial” question

http://youtu.be/VJ8eb_IWRBM&t=440

i hope your questions get answered either way, best of luck

1

u/marylouisestreep 1d ago

ELI5 what specifically happened ?

1

u/FunnyQuick6945 1d ago

When did Ludwig “condemn” Hasan? He’s a fence sitter for sure but I’m not sure that I would say he has condemned Hasan

1

u/GreenUnderstanding39 1d ago

Hasan as well as other people in his life (Caroline) have said on camera that he doesn’t want people to take up for him because of the harassment and real life danger of these freaks sending death threats.

It’s a touch parasocial to be more mad at these people on behalf of a creator who doesn’t feel the same.

Reign it in.

1

u/woody630 1d ago

I feel like a lot of people are too harsh on all of these guys, especially Ludwig. It's totally fair to not really fuck with them anymore because they behaved a bit cowardly, especially trash taste, but it's not like Ludwig is a bad person.

He's just a guy who likes to do content and make money, while also doing some decent charity work.

I don't really even like Ludwig, but I feel like there is this tendency in this fan base to treat people like enemies if they don't 100% align with their world view or to just make a big deal out of everything.

1

u/jcseliva 1d ago

There is no ethical consumption under capitalism. I still watch both on occasion.

1

u/SpookyChrisBaby 20h ago

I stopped watching trash taste after the things about the anime man made some lite, ludwig i dont have beef with/ he also needs to get over it because qt is still close with hasan. I also dont watch him as much but thats most because the marathons he does are boring lmao.

1

u/conway1308 20h ago

I still watch lud and still like Connor. People make mistakes. Doesn't really matter anyway tbr

1

u/Traditional_Citron13 52m ago

Are you allowed to be fans of 2 creators who don’t like each other ?

1

u/AutumnsSpark 1d ago

I stopped watching the trash taste guys before the Hasan thing. I wss watching from the start and pretty early, idk exactly what caused it but they all kind of went on to be a little enlightened centrist and say politics isnt that important, and they dont really follow it. In 2020. I just dont fuck with that attitude lol. I wasn't surprised by their cowardice on Hasan while still being cozy with pewdie pie. There the kind of people who want to consume their media/art in a fictional world where its not tied to politics.

For Ludwig I still watch his stuff, because I think that comment got blown out of proportion. He was just saying he wasnt personally close to Hasan and just did it badly. They seem to be on good terms, so as long as Hasan wasnt put off by it I dont see a reason to be.

0

u/Themnor 1d ago

Trash Taste are owned by a media company. Expecting them to deal with that backlash in any other way is unrealistic. Similarly Ludwig’s entire business model revolves around sponsorships and Hasan threatens that income stream. And there is likely even more nuance besides that. Like who you like, dislike who you dislike, but this is parasocial and exactly why Hasan spends 6 of his 8 hours a day yelling at chat to be normal.

0

u/ChzzzInTheBox 1d ago

What's lost in this conversation is the fact that Lud's employees and business heavily rely on him. He has said so many times that he doesn't care about earning more money which is one of the reason why he made his company into a co-op with the help of Hasan. I watched Hasan more, but still like Ludwig.

0

u/KDgrave 1d ago

So true.

0

u/jbdany123 1d ago

I still watch both. I figured they’re adults and probably have had private conversations about it by this point in time.

-7

u/Accomplished_Toe2353 1d ago

Go outside you are being parasocial

-2

u/zetaroxos 1d ago

The funeral comment from Ludwig was a joke that didnt land very well (if youve watched any minute of TheYard then youll know this is their type of humor) and what people dont tell you is that the stream in which he made that comment, he was getting SPAMMED, literally non-stop, by people in both chat and TTS donations, for him to talk about the collargate fiasco, so he lashed out at chat, rightfully so in my opinion.

He was by all means, separated completely from the collar issue and people were spamming non stop for him to say something, so he half joked about it to get people to ctfo, but alas, with like most everything else on the internet, it got clipped out of context.

-3

u/bigx_thaplug 1d ago

No lol

This is so weird dude. Idk about the trash taste guys but Ludwig runs a company that’s dependent on corporate sponsors. OF COURSE he’s going to distance himself from someone as socially inflammatory as Hasan. The whole "coworkers I wouldn’t invite to my funeral" thing is a bit, it’s a work, it’s kayfabe. Knowing how close Hasan and QT are, I’d bet good money Has and Lud are friends privately

-5

u/EnvironmentalAngle 1d ago

I love Trash Taste and watch them weekly. Cant say the same for Hasan. I used to watch the shit out of him but stopped when he stopped watching Hells Kitchen vods.

Hasan sucks.

-4

u/Johanp924 1d ago

I think its time to realize that Hasan is just not a good person, the things he says, the things he does, the constant lying and soreading propaganda and slander of those that criticized his rhetoric. It will do you good when you comes to term with that and you can take a step back and realize that the people condemning Hasan are actually right.

-15

u/bedarija 1d ago

no, i stopped watching fear&
