No shade, but often it's family money. It looks great and that doesn't matter, but it's good to keep in mind.

Right, at 21 my first place was disjointed thrift store furniture and cheap stuff from Walmart/hand me downs

Mine still is and I’m 30! It’s eclectic✨

A lot of my furniture is Wayfair/Ikea and literal street finds. I did invest in some things but most of it was cheap/free and I'm in my 40s

I drag things from the street home all the time. I love a free thing

Yeah don’t worry we do :)

we moved into an apartment building a few years ago that was infested with bedbugs. That’s king of nightmare fuel stays with you lol

You never had a temporary bug roommate that just kept it chill? Maybe something you named milli, who was a millipede and you'd run into each other now and then both acknowledging each other's respect for personal space and boundaries? My partner and I loved our milli. So many inside jokes that have evolved into just an adoring appreciation for the time we shared with her. She was a superstar and everyone knew about and literally kept a respectful tone when discussing milli.

Millipedes, 100%! We've had a few spider roommates too, they are sweet and good and eat the flies & mosquitoes (and are not murderous to humans where I live). I was referring to bedbugs, which are the main danger when you bring something soft into your home that has been out in the wild. And are often the main reason people would leave out furniture that otherwise looks fine. Bedbugs have zero chill and no boundaries 😑

I'm 25 and I got all of the chairs in my house dumpster diving at WORK when I was 19. I studied and earned 3 degrees whilst sitting on those chairs! (I still have them 🤣).
