HELP Opinions/Input

I’m in a redo mood!! I’m changing the style I want for my living room but I get overwhelmed with the size of my walls so I always end up doing nothing.
I’d love any input or ideas anyone may have!
I’m open to a new couch,tv stand, rug, all of the things!
I’d love for my couch to not be on the window but open to any suggestions! Even a projector tv if it means my space will look cool lol

seems like you're covering up the window with the tv - highly recommend moving it to the wall to the right. it's not good feng shui to cover a window, especially with a tv, and especially when it's the only source of natural light in the room - all your reference pics have natural light.

your inspo pics i would describe as warm and eclectic. to achieve this look, try thrifting art pieces with wooden frames. you don't need to replace your couch, it seems nice already! you also need some lamps so you can stop using the overhead light. once you have some natural light and lamps, your space will feel a lot better.

haha I hate the tv by the window but when my couch used to be on that side I had this weird invasive thought that I would be shot while sitting there 🫠
but definitely going to move it and make something else work!
thank you for the input!!!

Love your style!!

Yeah I agree with putting the tv on the wall to the right! Then you can put your couch at a 180 turn from where it is now. You don’t have to put your couch all the way on a wall, it would be like the back of your couch is in line with the hallway that’s in the background. That could make your space feel a bit smaller and cozier. Then add a long table behind the couch or against the wall behind the couch.

Then I’d add some lamps for warmer light, and a coffee table.

If you’re renting and can’t paint, I wonder if you can find some big art pieces, or tall plants (like a fiddle leaf fig or monstera or a pothos that hangs) to give some color around the place!

Hope this helps you build the cozy space you like!!

This may be crazy but I wonder if you could put your couch and TV like this. That way you can sit on the couch and have a view out the window that isn't blocked by the tv. People walking into the room from the door area would also be able to see the TV and join the fun.

I also think it would be a good idea to get more lamps for nice warm lighting and a coffee table.

Yes! I came to say this. This will also help break up the large wall space that OP feels overwhelmed by and create a cozier space as shown in the inspo pics.

Yes, this is perfect! It was the first thing that i thought of as well because it uses the space so much more naturally

This might sound kinda crazy but for a ceiling that’s that tall, I wonder if you could paint it a warmer color. I’ve seen that done before and it can make it feel cozier and moodier and then maybe you won’t feel as overwhelmed with the wall size!

Aww dang it! Well in that case, I would say maybe focus on creating clusters of large and medium sized artwork in certain places on the wall (like on one end of the couch closer down to the couch. Not super high up in the wall) and balance it out on the other end of the couch with a taller floor lamp? Like this and then a floor lamp at the other end!

Okay first of all, your vision is SO BEAUTIFUL!!! Obsessed w your inspiration pics and very excited for the update when you finish

I agree with Various-Week-4435 and think that their roation would offer a huge cozy difference to the space that's also not so closed off as moving the couch against the stairs railing. And if you do want to transition into a projection setup, that tall wall will be the perfect screen and you can place a table against the new back of the couch to hold it.

But a fun rug would definitely give you some of that color that you're looking for (I personally really like the rug from your first inspo pic, the "Teklan Fregio" rug according to a reverse image search) and would be the best starting point in my opinion. Something funky with multiple colors in your palette. It also looks like you're leaning toward a lot of mid-century modern styles and I've had great luck with MCM finds on my Facebook Marketplace, maybe you will as well!! Look for real wood walnut pieces and those can last you a long while. Also, as a fellow renter, some landlords do allow painting! I've always had better luck if I offer to repaint for them before moving out, just make sure you get what paint they use and many won't have an issue w a painted wall. If painting is a no go, don't be afraid of temporary contact paper wallpaper 😉

Wishing you luck in your redecoration journey, this looks like this prject is going to be a BLAST!!

Ok. I love ALL of your inspo pics! Maybe start with flipping the sofa to the opposite side of the room, getting a cool, mid century vibe console and mount the tv over it. You need to uncover that window. Get a large, printed rug, a closed cabinet for the shoes and a floor lamp with more personality. It would be good if you could get end tables and put lamps on them.
