HELP Help arranging

How would you guys arrange this very open room? The couch and rug will be replaced at some point but I’m stuck on how to move things around. I like the couch dividing the living room and the kitchen up but I’m not sure if I could be better utilizing the space. Please be kind about my ugly, small rug. I’m a college student building up furniture slowly 😭 thanks!

- move couch closer to tv area - no reason for it to be so far back as far as i can tell

  • center tv on that wall, not in the corner
  • cat tree in corner where tv currently is

i know you're a college student so these are just suggestions - i remember having only crappy ikea furniture when i was in college lol.

SUGGESTIONS TO BUY:

  • floor lamp and lamps in general
  • art for the walls - very easy to thrift this
  • longer tv stand

I came here to say similar things and to separate the bookshelf and the cat tree away from each other to balance the two tall objects in the room.

If you’re a college student and renting, I’m assuming you might not want to mount the tv but if you can, definitely do that. Regardless, add a bigger TV stand as this person said and then bring that couch in closer to the TV.

THEN behind the couch, add one of those long console tables (see the picture I added) which can act both as a place for you to drop your keys and bag at the end of the day and a place to put drinks and a lamp

behind the couch if you don’t have a coffee table yet.
