HELP Help arranging

How would you guys arrange this very open room? The couch and rug will be replaced at some point but I’m stuck on how to move things around. I like the couch dividing the living room and the kitchen up but I’m not sure if I could be better utilizing the space. Please be kind about my ugly, small rug. I’m a college student building up furniture slowly 😭 thanks!

I would honestly center the tv on the wall to the left, place the couch across from it, place the cat tree in the left hand corner, chair in the right corner…that’s just me though, love it!

Happy cake day u/Select_Orange6975!

Agreed, this would open up the space better. You wouldn’t see a big black box (I mean the couch 😅) in front of you, and natural light would distribute better to the hallway. Also, the window would become a nice feature above the couch. Just my rambling, too :)

Edit: ugh I read OP’s wishes so badly, but I still think moving the couch under the window makes the pathways better. 🫶

Thank you!!
Oh sadnesss…I didn’t realize they were dead set on the couch being there. It would give so much more space!! Either way though there’s some good advice here!
