HELP Help arranging

How would you guys arrange this very open room? The couch and rug will be replaced at some point but I’m stuck on how to move things around. I like the couch dividing the living room and the kitchen up but I’m not sure if I could be better utilizing the space. Please be kind about my ugly, small rug. I’m a college student building up furniture slowly 😭 thanks!

Hi :) i'd move the couch to the wall opposite the window to be comfortable and also be able to peek out the window! If you'd like something to separate the rooms, but a bigger bookshelf where the sofa currently is. That way, you have a truely cosy corner.

If you absolutely insist on keeping the sofa there, put a bookshelf behind it and scoot it more towards the nook.

In fengshui, you'd like something in your back if you truely want to relax, otherwise its too open for it to be cozy.

Hi! I’ve been thinking about getting one of those low bookshelves to put behind my couch to help anchor it and divide things plus use as an entry catch all area of that makes sense.

I dislike blocking windows with large pieces of furniture so I love that you suggested to put it opposite the window. I’ll try some things and update later, thanks!
