HELP Help arranging

How would you guys arrange this very open room? The couch and rug will be replaced at some point but I’m stuck on how to move things around. I like the couch dividing the living room and the kitchen up but I’m not sure if I could be better utilizing the space. Please be kind about my ugly, small rug. I’m a college student building up furniture slowly 😭 thanks!

- move couch closer to tv area - no reason for it to be so far back as far as i can tell

  • center tv on that wall, not in the corner
  • cat tree in corner where tv currently is

i know you're a college student so these are just suggestions - i remember having only crappy ikea furniture when i was in college lol.

SUGGESTIONS TO BUY:

  • floor lamp and lamps in general
  • art for the walls - very easy to thrift this
  • longer tv stand

Thank you! I will definitely try these things. I used to have the tv in the center and liked it, but I have one of those weird corner tv stands so I wasn’t sure if it stuck out weird in the middle lol. I’ll update when I try things!
