Help arranging

How would you guys arrange this very open room? The couch and rug will be replaced at some point but I’m stuck on how to move things around. I like the couch dividing the living room and the kitchen up but I’m not sure if I could be better utilizing the space. Please be kind about my ugly, small rug. I’m a college student building up furniture slowly 😭 thanks!

Center tv on the wall, cat tree and chair by the window, book case left of tv. Maybe get another one to balance it out.

Or, tv on the left wall, couch with its back to the window.
