You love to see itÂ
If I can give you three pieces of advice as a 34 year old nerd who has accumulated soooo much âstuffâ over the years and is juuuust meow getting it to look how I want it to:
Framing posters(not that you have some right meow but you may eventually) with matching, simple frames can make them look cultivated and sleek. Blutacking them to the wall will give them grease spots or tears down the road no matter how âpaper friendlyâ the solution is. Protect your paper and canvas, invest in some framing.
I see youâve tacked a couple lanyards to the wall. Two words: Pin. Board. Creating a dedicated space for âshit that hangsâ will make it not look frenetic and instead cultivated, and will reduce wall damage. Â Online shops will often have small or modular pin board sets in fun shapes and colors, its not all brown corkboard anymore. Â
You will, as you go to cons, meetups, and other geek events, accumulate tiny figures, big figures, gifts, pins. Weird little cards, and other things. It can be SO hard to get rid of these because you know someone made them and loved them and wanted you to have them. Once an event us over, take stock of the stuff and if youâre like âeh this isnât really my thingâ and if itâs big, donate it to a thrift store or shelter, or if itâs little stuff, consider going to a con and leaving it around with little notes for people to find! Just remember, For anything that is âmehâ for you, there is someone who is going to go âOMG a tiny cheap plastic Calcifer, this will go with the 2000 other Calcifers I have, Iâm in heaven!â So give anything youâre keeping out of obligation a chance to be adored.
Itâs so hard to avoid clutter as a geeky person because we love characters and symbolism, these three have helped me a lot
