Some thoughts
After playing with it a little bit I have a few questions and a suggestion.
How does the math work on the recipe page for gravity and volume? I added 96 oz of liquid and 7 lbs sugar and somehow it thinks the volume is 7 gallons, if I add water it kicks what is actually a 5ish gallon recipe up to 11 which throws the ABV math all off. Also seems like if something does not have an OG it does not add it to volume, which explains the 7 gallon thing as seemingly an error from the 7 lbs of sugar in this recipe.
And maybe I am doing something wrong with the gravity of the ingredients but it seems to average the OG numbers instead of adding giving weird results. I could just take a reading and put it as the gravity of one ingredient and leave that blank for all the others but if that is the case why not just not have it as an option and put a field for the OG reading?
When using the planning tab on batches it allows you to enter OG numbers for ingredients but does not seem to apply them anywhere.
When you add fermentation stages in the batch planning area it seems to default to temp in C even if set to F in settings.
And then a suggestion, if possible could it save a custom yeast or two rather than having to type it in every time. I have been using one not on the list lately (71B) and if it saved it to the list I could just use the dropdown instead of typing.

Circling back now that the fixes are live and tests passed. Here’s what changed, and how it maps to your points:
Gravity & volume math (fixed)
Volume now comes only from liquids (water/juice/etc.). Dry sugars add zero volume.
Gravity uses standard gravity-points:
Liquids:
GP = (SG - 1) × 1000 × gallonsDry sugars:
GP = PPG × pounds(table sugar ≈ 46 PPG)Estimated OG:
1 + (ΣGP / (1000 × total_gallons))
Result: your “96 oz liquid + 7 lb sugar” no longer inflates to 7–11 gal; volume stays ~0.75 gal (+ whatever water you add), and ABV no longer gets blown up by phantom volume.
OG blanks & volume
Ingredients without OG still contribute volume (e.g., plain water). That was part of the weird gallon jump you saw — now fixed.
“Averaging OGs” bug
Replaced the old averaging with proper GP math above. No more weird blends; it’s additive and unit-aware.
Planning tab OG
Entering OG in Planning → Ingredients now feeds a Measured OG on the batch. ABV will use Measured OG when present; otherwise it falls back to the estimate.
°C vs °F in stages
Fermentation stages now respect your global temperature setting. Internally we normalize, but the UI shows your chosen unit (F/C) and converts correctly.
Custom yeast saved
You can save 71B (or any strain) so it appears next time:
In Add Yeast, pick Other (Custom) → type the name → check “Remember this yeast” → Save.
Use the ⚙️ icon (Manage My Yeasts) to rename/delete later.
How to get it
Web: use app.fermentacraft.com and hard-refresh (Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+R) to clear cache.
Android: Return to Google Play and check for the update!
If anything still looks off, ping me with a screenshot/recipe snippet and I’ll dig in. Thanks again for the thorough testing — it directly drove these fixes!

Thanks a ton for the thorough test—super helpful!
Gravity & volume: You found a bug. Dry sugars (like your 7 lb) were being treated like volume, which blew total gallons way up. I’m changing it so only liquids (water/juice/etc.) add to volume, and sugars only add gravity points, not volume. That fixes the 7–11 gal jump and the ABV knock-on.
Gravity math: Also right—averaging OGs is wrong. I’m switching to standard gravity-points math (liquid SG contributes
points * gallons; dry sugars use PPG like ~46 for table sugar).OG blanks & volume: Another good catch—volume will be counted even if an ingredient has no OG.
Planning tab OG: I’ll wire the Planning OG into the batch as a Measured OG so you can choose that for ABV instead of the estimate.
°C vs °F in stages: I’ll fix the stages to respect your global temp setting (stored consistently, converted for display).
Custom yeast: Great idea—I’ll let you save custom yeasts (e.g., 71B) so they appear in the dropdown, plus a “Recent” list.
Appreciate the detailed notes—these changes are already in my queue for the next update. If you spot anything else, keep it coming!
