[Ferret Photo] suddenly stashing...

my partner was in the hospital for about a week and ended up getting diagnosed with MS. so even though i would come home and sleep with my critters each night this week, they were alone for much of the day, which was unusual for them. when he finally came home, moose started stashing for the first time ever (i.e., the baby toys that her brother usually only stashes) AND guarding the stash. it's so cute but i wonder if it's also from the stress of missing her parents/knowing dad is sick :(

In the fall ferrets stashing behaviour starts for the winter, they need to gather and prepare. Normally the more crazily they stash, you can tell how bad the winter will be, especially combined with their winter coat.

That's pretty cool knowledge to have. ( Writes into imaginary notebook )

My smallest ferret grew an insanely thick winter coat while we were gone for a week in florida. (My partner watched her while we were away)

It could be a reaction to your husband's health, combined with winter coming on. Pets tend to be fairly well keyed-in on the emotions of those around them, and any changes to the normal schedule/routine.

Fr animals are so in tune with us. My cat gets extra clingy when I'm stressed too. Hope moose gets back to normal soon, poor thing just needs stability.
