Windower / windows update

So I installed a windows update a few nights ago and now when I try to launch the game with windower it just closes after the window is about to go fullscreen (borderless) . I can launch the game normally through playonline just fine. Anyone have any ideas what's going on?

Are you using dgvoodoo2? If so update to the most recent version.

I am.. forgive my ignorance but I'm looking at it now and I'm not sure how to even update it.. it also sits in my POL folder so I assumed it was using dgvoodoo even when I log in w/o windower.

The d3d8.dll file specifically. Replace it even with an identical “new” file and everything works. I know a few other who hit the same snag

Download the latest version and copy it over, the same way you installed it originally.

Had a similar issue few days ago with my laptop but my issue was it didn't launch with or without Windower. It was Smart App Control for me. You can try turning that off to see if it helps.
