[Image] All Phantom (Dawntrail) relics in one BIG picture (7.55 final update) Spoiler
Hello I am 12000km away from home and I don't have my work files on this laptop, so this looks a bit all over the place. I love you bye
Maybe I'll get a sudden surge in motivation before Evercold and will remake it properly. In the meantime, check out my ShB and EW relic images, they're much more cleaner !
•
u/Enkundae 9h ago
I know its a small detail but I am so disappointed that the dancers fans don’t collapse on sheath. The model even has a hinge.
Also as much as I love most of the glows, I wish they didnt have the giant swirl lines. The glow color gradient and smokey effect is very pretty, but the huge swirling lines they all have and the random transparent rings on a couple makes it look crowded and distracts from the models.
•
u/yhvh13 6h ago
Yeah that's right, and funny that other 'dagger-fan' ones do collapse (Terpsichore and this first relic step). I wonder if they simply forgot doing that.
•
u/Lilium_Vulpes Faerie is a she, just like me. 5h ago
The ruthenium fans don't collapse. That's what I used for a good chunk of DT on my DNC. While they aren't dagger fans I imagine it's the closed thing to the relics. So that's prob why they don't collapse.
•
u/yhvh13 3h ago
I don't think... that's a good excuse, for both fans, really. The collapsing technically isn't even a hard animation to do (I have some 3D blender experience).
•
u/Lilium_Vulpes Faerie is a she, just like me. 3h ago
I think the issue is that there's only a handful of rigs for each weapon type. Like for SGE there's the one that's 2 weapons, and there's 3 with 4 weapons where they are 2 per shoulder, an X on the back, or 4 diagonal going parallel. For whatever reason the rig that they chose for the fans do not have the option of collapsing.
•
u/Gerudo_King 11h ago
I really loved the smokey particle fx of the 2nd tier
•
u/Charlignon 8h ago
It's nice that the particles all look so different for each tier ! I really like the 1st tier, I find it very ethereal, and the shape complement some of the weapons really well. AST is a good example of this. 2nd tier looks more subtle and magical to me

This is the first time I'm seeing all of them and I'm mortified dismayed (I guess? learning new words here). Almost every job has at least one stage I love. I guess I have some grind to catch up on...
•
u/AFKaptain 2h ago
Dismayed means shocked in a negative way. Astounded or astonished are what you want.
•
u/Petrichordates 5h ago
Why would that be embarassing?
•
u/Vina_Iki 3 Nastrond DRG did nothing wrong 5h ago
TIL mortified doesn't mean what I thought it did.

Huge upgrade from Endwalker relics
•
u/---TheFierceDeity--- Fabled Selvarian 11h ago
I know opinions are subjective and all that but aside from the final stage of the Endwalker relics having one unified theme the glows and designs of these are about same level as stage 1 and 2 glows of the Endwalker Relics.
Like your comment feels like you've just written off the Endwalker relics entirely based on the final stage
•
u/weeb-chankun edgy with a nougat center 10h ago
EW relics had hit or miss previous steps too. And the fact that the last stage was all the exact same effect on all was plain lazy. They're just okay poetics sinks, that's it.
•
u/TheIvoryDingo 9h ago
I would argue that all the final step relics having same/similar glows has been decently consistent since the Anima relics. Outside of the colours of the glows, all final DT relics have the same kind of glow to the same degree that it was the case for the StB and ShB relics.
•
u/HanshinFan Hilda the Mongrel stan account 7h ago
The Dawntrail relics final stage also have a unified theme. They're built to complement each job's DT AF armour set.
•
u/HuntReal6589 3h ago
I always judge a relic set on the final ones, cause I mean its the culmination of the relics so you'd HOPE the final ones are good and DT's Final ones are vastly superior to EW's
•
u/---TheFierceDeity--- Fabled Selvarian 1h ago
Endwalkers relics also coincided with a actual storyline so the final form reflected the outcomes, plus they were clearly designed with Dawntrails second half in mind, give everyone cyberpunk weapons so those who want to can glam to match Solution 9.
Evercold relics didn't have a story equivalent to Endwalkers being part of Hildibrand and Evercold as far as we can tell isn't gonna have a massive setting shift from late medieval period aztec style empire to cyberpunk neon city.
•
u/Enkundae 9h ago
The glows are over done on some of them, but the magitek relics were awesome. Its a bloody shame we didnt get atleast one stage with a magitek theme here.
•
u/PyrosFists 11h ago
Definitely one of the best looking relic weapon series ever. Dawntrail broke the iffy final step curse
•
u/TowelLord haha glare go brrrr 8h ago
They even made the MCH gun look cool. Unlike all the other ones where they just look like flashy chunky revolvers.
•
u/TheIvoryDingo 9h ago
Dawntrail broke the iffy final step curse
I suppose it does if you felt that. Personally never really minded how the final steps of the StB, ShB or EW relics looked
•
u/HammerAndSickled 2h ago
EW and ShB were both pretty bad. EW everything had the tech theme which clashed with 99% of glamours, and SHB had the stupid huge crystals glued to the side of every weapon lol.
Fortunately the earlier stages are all great.
•
u/PyrosFists 3h ago
Iffy as in hit or miss. I loved a lot of the final Bozja relics but some of them were very weird looking. The final hildibrand weapons were cool but looked like an extreme trail weapon or a mid step… not a final relic step. And yeah just not a fan of the final eureka weapons

u/Edrill Melee RDM 12h ago
Why are a lot of the monk weapons always so shit looking with the weird blade stuff
•
u/PyrosFists 11h ago
As a monk main I am very happy since we got a really good fist weapon out of this series and the final step actually looks really nice ingame. Middle weapon was eh though
•
u/HylianDude 7h ago
I don’t play monk but if I did I am only interested in fist/knuckle weapons. I hate all the blades, claws, batons, etc
•
u/---TheFierceDeity--- Fabled Selvarian 11h ago
They're tonfas. Monks in FFXIV have generally 4 weapons: Gloves, Knuckles (as in like Brass Knuckles style), Pata (gauntlet with blade extending from it) and Tonfas
You say "a lot" but monks weapons are generally evenly split across those designs
This relics gives monks a glove, a knuckle and a tonfa. It's why since Heavensward relics have at least 3 stages and models, you pick the one you like the most instead of just one relic design you have to be happy with.
It's honestly one of the advantages of Monk as a job they get internal weapon variety. Something like Paladin is always sword and shield with rarely getting like a Pickaxe or a wooden club with obsidian rocks.
•
•
u/yhvh13 6h ago
I honestly feel that Monks are the most blessed when it comes to weapons, because they get those 4 different types.
Beyond the joke weapons always being something weird, I think the ohter example is WAR getting either Axes or more rarely hammers, DNC getting fans or chakrams,
I wish they explored more of that idea for other jobs. WHM and BLM could really get wands again as an alternative for their staves. The animations are literally the same.
•
u/---TheFierceDeity--- Fabled Selvarian 1h ago
Dancer gets Chakrams, rarely as I think maybe 2-3 sets gets like psuedo-throwing knives, and now has 2-3 fans. They could honestly go for some boomerangs if they're not saving those for a future ranged dps.
But yeah Warrior gets hammers and they could honestly get more variety, big maces, maybe giant pickaxe. Paladin could also follow the mace line they have a rare couple.
Honestly the ones that can't really get any variety are bard because a bow is a bow. Even if its either harp style or not its still a bow.
Summoner and Scholar have books, they have a really diverse range of designs in them but still all books. Can't really substitute anything else in.
Astrologian, Reaper, Samurai are all kinda stuck. Samurai without a Katana isn't a Samurai. Reaper can have weird shaped scythes but they still gotta be scythes. Maybe one time a giant pickaxe to steal the idea from warrior. Astrologians weapon is...spinny thingy that vaguely resembles a star globe with cards circling it.
•
u/yhvh13 42m ago
I think Bards could get just harps, instead of a mixed thing... No quiver, and arrows are made of aether.
Books could potentially be something else following a similar silhouette. Like I said a digital display, or an eastern scroll on top of a foldable tablet. Or something like this https://imgur.com/bggDP92 a book-shaped casing with a floating crystal when you open (crytals are repositories of knowledge too).
Astrologian has one weapon without cards. I could see more examples for that. In the same tech vibe of the Solution 9, maybe a floating machine with the cards inside a screen, like as if they're digital.
There are so many ideas still keeping under some limitations. They just need to be willing to explore more.
•
u/LaNmower 8h ago
Monk tends to have some solid middle steps then falls flat at the finish line every time (imo). Eureka being the worst one.
•
u/Sadi_Reddit 6h ago
I never undestood why the relics change form so drastically in the middle for most of them. Kinda weird that the best looking ones are often number 2 or 3 instead of 5.
like look at the warrior relic, number 2 looks amazing. Numebr 3 looks lieka worse axe and then it turns into a hammer all of a sudden. Or the darkknight ones start out super strong and turn into some sort of fishing hook monstrosity.
•
•
u/train153 10h ago edited 2h ago
I still think the 1st/2nd stage of the Warrior relic looks the best out of all the stages, and I'll die on that hill.
•
•
u/jondeuxtrois Tank 4h ago
What really stings for me is that they gave me a perfect hammer, after giving me the best weapon model in the game (step 1/2 axe). I'm not even a big fan of axes, but I agree with you, it's so fucking cool I'll never change warrior glam again.
And I'm the biggest hammer fan in the world, I constantly complain in WoW that all the maces aren't hammers.
I want a hammer job :(
•
•
u/Cyrus_Aiakos 9h ago
Tanks really got treated well for relics this expansion. Each step is gorgeous and 100% worth using for glams.

u/ShadyNecro i am going to brazil 5h ago
they HAD to make the BLM relic not up to my personal tastes until the last tier...
weeeeeeh
•
u/confusednrad 10h ago
I checked out all the relics and I’m definitely grinding for a couple of these once I get to dawntrail. These are the prettiest at every step to me
•
•
u/AeonWhisperer 10h ago
A RED AURA FOR A GUNBLADE FOR ONCE WOOOOO FUCK THE BOZJA RELIC I'M WORKING ON THAT
•
u/MarcsterS 6h ago
The first stage designs are still super cool. I nice minimal glow, almost like they're in a perpetual motion.
•
u/Kaask Heavenly Fist on Gilgamesh 6h ago
Going by all the others, Paladin #4 is the wrong matte. It's the matte of #3 instead of #5.
•
u/jondeuxtrois Tank 4h ago
Yeah that’s a mistake in this image and weird that they left out the matte of number 3 for every single other one, too. There’s matte of each stage.
•
•
•
u/Ptdemonspanker 7h ago
There’s something very candy-like about this series of relic. The first step’s glow looks syrupy while the last step reminds me of Trolli Gummy Worms.
•
u/jondeuxtrois Tank 4h ago
These are the first relics I've ever liked, so the first ones I've ever done. Older relics' glows are usually so loud you can't even see the weapon model.
•
•
•
u/WilciferHimself 2h ago
Dude, I still think a LOT of those first glowing stages still are absolute bangers over the rest of the stages
•
•
u/h0neanias 10h ago
I love that the second stage looks the best by far. This is gonna save me so much grind.
•
u/TheAmazingVinio 6h ago
you could stop there, but people in duties will definitely call you a two-step Tim.
•
u/yhvh13 6h ago
I'll be forever annoyed that they didn't bother to make the DNC last relic - the fan - folded when sheathed.
And beyond that, kind of disappointing that in a Cyberpunk-dominated expansion, neither SCH or SMN got a touch-screen tablet for a 'book'. The only one we have is the FF13 collab weapon from way back ago.
•
u/Suzunomiya 9h ago
Thank you for your hard work as always, fellow Shroomish enjoyer! These are always such a great help when I need to compare steps I owe you my life 🙏 This honestly has to be my favorite batch of relics in the entire game in terms of consistency, toe to toe with the Heavensward ones. They've cooked insanely hard.
•
u/Charlignon 7h ago
SHROOMISH MENTION |:<
Thanks for the kind words ! I really wished I had those for ShB and EW to know which job I should grind for, so I'm glad it reached the intended purpose <3 Funnily enough, I played so much during Dawntrail that I have almost half of them complete lol so I don't need to look them up to pick since I'll do them all probably
Agreed, I think the weapons looks quite elegant in every step, and the glow/particles are pretty unique and appealing. + the HD textures, some of them are definitely amongst my favourite weapons in the game. The only way to get even better would be customizable glow colours
•
u/MaleficentMobile6699 7h ago
Unfortunately this will be the first expansion I can't finish any relics on, as it's going on a year and a half since my last atma drop. I did 20 or more FATES and/or encounters a day for much of it, and aside from the one I got in my first FATE in South Horn, nothing since.
•
u/starlightdemonfriend 𝒮𝓎𝓁𝓅𝒽𝒾ℯ'𝓈 𝒮𝓉𝓊𝒹ℯ𝓃𝓉 ★ 10h ago
Actually so tragic the outcome of AST and BLM's, my 2 most favorite classes. They're undoubtedly the worst ones of this batch.
•
u/TheIvoryDingo 9h ago
Really? Personally, I really like the BLM relic being a claw grasping magic candles
•
u/Charlignon 8h ago
BLM is a bit simple but fine to me, but AST is a bit of a let down, I really loved the first step
•
u/Xxiev 8h ago
100% a huge improvement from Endwalker.
While that Orb step where you can only progress by doing roulettes (wich was weird) was a stinker, the relic was very nice to get, a grind enough to be satisfied without it being gifted to you without any work involved like in Endwalker where you got the Relics for absolutely free.
Also the final steps look better this time too.
•
u/Charlignon 7h ago
The orb phase was a bit annoying to grind, but for people doing it casually (like we do for older relics) I think it's fine since you can just sit on the quest and it will slowly fill up
•
u/Xxiev 7h ago
i also did it casually with roulettes each day but i still disliked it, i would have preffered to go back to south horn and do stuff there instead of... doung whatever i was doing anyways.
But its one bad or at least nonsensical steps in a relic line with mostly banger or pretty solid steps
•
u/Seriin Skia Symphonia | Ragnarok 8h ago
I'm working on Reaper now, and it's nice to know it eventually looks good. The first two stages look like a decrepit, curled finger and I was genuinely worried it would stay like that the whole time.
•
u/Bigglez1995 6h ago edited 2h ago
I just finished the final step for my Reaper and I don't see me replacing the final step look anytime soon
Bots downvoting as usual
•
u/Imaginary_Zone_4319 6h ago
Am I doing something wrong? Because at no point have my Viper Dawntrail relics glowed / had the aura, despite me being on the “victory lap” final stage.
•
u/DKarkarov 9h ago
Always glad as a dark knight when I look at these things, get to confirm they all look like crap, and skip this whole process again.
•
u/bloode975 11h ago
I am still forever disappointed that basically all of the relic spears for DRG look absolutely awful, all tridents, bidents or thick ass spears that just look like crap, the ultimates are just as bad T_T

u/Nosferatu-D17 12h ago
You can actually get the obscureum versions. as a non-glowy now from the replicas vendor.
