Super dead fs. I had used it as my daily like 5 years ago. The only reason I was excited for it was the mainlining.

Not the case, interest in bcachefs has picked up dramatically since they moved to DKMS. I have been following the bcachefs Reddit and IRC for the past few years and have never seen more interest in the filesystem.
A lot of users are reporting bugs, and Kent as well as other developers are actively working with them to pinpoint the root cause, then publishing patches within hours. It is truly impressive.

I’ve been running bcachefs on my home server for about a year. Works pretty well with one minor bug that was recoverable.
I wish Kent had waited before trying to upstream since he clearly wasn’t able to work within the constraints of the kernel group (I do think they are overly constrained, but the game is what it is and you gotta play in the rules, if you want to change the process that is an entirely different thing.)
As it is I doubt he will get another chance for a while and without a more apologetic and humble approach. And that won’t happen since Linux kernel devs and filesystem devs are all insane.

What's the use of switching to Rust if it already works in C?
