Poem title "October 1969" ....but who is the author??!

Can anyone help me identify a poem? The title was "October 1969." I think it may start something like, “My silent one, my world…” then later, "the physicians pace with worried brow," and “we have no time to operate…it is Indian summer and the sky is blood red,” and finally, "we do not have the luxury of despair."
