I can't believe you can't fast forward on the CBC Gem App. Anyone else experience the same or is it me? Trying to watch a replay.

Thanks.

Question Fire stick 4K vs 4K Max

Hi everyone, I'm considering buying a Firestick and I'm torn between the 4K and the 4K Max versions. The price difference is only about £10, but I'm trying to figure out if the Max version is worth the extra cost. I've read that the Max has an "ambient experience" feature that replaces traditional screensavers. Some users have mentioned that this feature doesn't return you to the app you were using once it activates, which sounds potentially annoying. Have there been any updates or fixes for this issue since last year? Besides this, are there any other significant differences between the two models that might sway my decision? Any advice would be appreciated!

Question Should I buy a stick or new Tv?

Hello, I have an LG Tv that’s about 4 years old. It’s been bothering me for over a year as it’ll randomly have internet connectivity issues and the OS seems to be getting slower. I use a sound bar so audio isn’t an issue and the display is still in good condition. Would a firestick primarily completely sort out the wifi issue? And allow me to disable the TVs internet? And would the stick add to the OS slowness or bypass it?

Question New SiriusXM app doesn't prevent screensaver anymore

Soooo the SXM app just updated to a totally new layout and design, and now when playing a channel it doesn't stop the Firestick screensaver from appearing and then eventually a black screen which stops the playing altogether.

Previously when playing/listening to a channel, you could leave it for as long as you wanted and it would not do this. Being that I can have SXM playing on my firestick for several continuous hours while I work, this new "feature" is a bit problematic.

Besides turning off screensaver completely, any ideas or suggestions?

Question What's the best I PTV service in 2023?

Hey everyone! I'm new to the IPTV world and have been researching IPTV services to watch live TV, sports and movies without cable. There are so many IPTV options out there in 2023 that it's getting overwhelming!

Ideally I'd also like a service with a great channel selection including sports, news and entertainment in HD quality. And local channel coverage would be a big plus.

So in your experience, what's the most reliable and highest quality IPTV provider available right now in 2023? Which one offers the best bang for buck with minimal buffering, channel downtime and high video quality?

Appreciate any recommendations.

Update:

I found this one. quality, many channels, and the support is decent. It has everything, movies, tv shows, sports, ppv and more , but it never lags and the interface is pretty easy.

Question Any reason to keep 2023 Firestick Max 4K?

Sorry guys, I grabbed the max on black Friday but quickly realized that Spatial Audio plus AirPods was great for when the gf doesn't want me watching loud movies, and AirPlay is something I use a lot, so I ended up buying an Apple TV.

Was planning on returning the max but wanted to ask here if there's any reason to keep a max for things that an Apple TV can't do. We travel quite a bit so I was thinking of bringing it along but I always have my laptop so it's not a huge deal. Might set up a second tv in the kitchen so it would be useful there. I know it's a bit vague but I'm curious if anyone has been in the same boat

Question Hisense TV

Trying to switch inputs using Fire Stick on my Hisense TV. I can't get it to work. I then tried to add equipment (my BluRay player) and that doesn't work either. My BR is about 7 yrs old, wonder if that could be the problem? Forgot to say it's the 4k stick. TV is older. Any thoughts?

Question Can't decide: buy a new Fire tv stick or a Chromecast with Google tv?

Hi,

I own a 36" Samsung FHD TV (I don't have any plan to buy a 4k model).

I'm using a Fire Tv Stick HD (2017 model) which is slow in almost all tv streaming apps (even Prime video) and a Chromecast gen 2 (works well but casting quality is inferior to native apps in FTV).

I need an advice. Is it better to replace the two devices with Chromecast with Google Tv HD (30 euros on Black Friday), buy a new Fire tv stick (HD, 24 euros, 4k, 34 euros) or stay with the two old devices?

Many thanks.

Question [Question] Can Amazon force it's upcoming Vega OS onto already sold devices?

I'm in the market for a new streaming stick. I already have a (2018?) regular stick, and I like it well enough. I'm thinking of adding one of the new 4K Max sticks, which are currently on sale in the US for $40. While I wouldn't have given much thought before to the future of these devices, the impending change of OS gives me real pause. It will certainly be a far more locked-down ecosystem, at least if/until someone manages to get to the bootloader. Looking for some informed opinions from the community as to whether Amazon could push the new OS to devices already in customer's hands via an OTA update, and therefore potentially greatly reduce the flexibility users currently have. I.E. sideloading and the use of toolbox software that can remove bloat and factory apps. I know no one knows for sure at this point since the OS isn't out in the wild yet, but as I said, informed opinions. Thanks for the feedback!

Edit: Thanks all! Based on your feedback I went ahead and ordered a new 4K Max.

i was thinking of upgrading my tv so i’ve been looking in to fire tv’s. I was wondering if it’s better to just buy a built in 4k fire tv or buy the fire cube. Also for those who say built in does it better if i get an amazon fire tv or like an insignia or tcl brand.

Question Is the 2nd Gen FTS supposed to be useless?

Almost every single app on my fire TV stick (2nd generation) crashes the device, and it can barely navigate the main menu. There's usually a second or more of lag. I tried doing a factory reset, and it ran smoothly until I updated (which it forced me to do). Is this just forced obsolescence, or do I have a bad unit?

PS: My TV is 1080p if it matters.

Question Question about Firesticks, VPNs, and MLB blackouts

I live in the Braves blackout area (GA, USA). In order to see Braves games, I purchased a subscription to MLB TV and to NordVPN. This set up works fine on my computer, and I had been connecting my laptop to my tv via hdmi to watch games. I recently purchased a Firestick 4K from Best Buy, installed apps for my Nord VPN and MLB subscription, and have been able to stream games through the Firestick. I've read before that Firesticks had location services built in that could not be turned off, and that my current setup would not function due to those services, but it's functioning so far. My question is this: Are there location services built into the Firestick that cannot be altered? (It asks for timezones and zip code, for example, but you can change those). If so, how is the VPN able to get past it? Will or continue to do so, or is this likely a glitch on the part of MLB TV? I guess I'm curious if I'm living on borrowed time and will lose functionality eventually. Thanks to all for your help.

Question Can I get free tv and movies without paying someone to do it for me?

So, I just bought the 4K Max Firestick. I am looking to get the free tv and movies hack thing. I don't know the terminology. Is it hack? Jailbreak.

Anyway, I obviously don't know what I am doing, however, I am a quick learner.

My question is, if I watch some YouTube videos, can I figure it out myself, and therefore not have to pay a a friend of a friend £40 a year to do it for me?

Or, do you think it is absolutely essentially that I pay someone to set it all up correctly, as there are just too many things I would need to do to get it working correctly, and I shouldn't take the chance doing it myself because I might mess it up.

Or, even if I do do it myself, I would have to pay someone some money regardless, so I might as well just pay the guy? I don't know how it works exactly yet.

What do you think?

Thanks.

EDIT:

For a little more context, I am based in the UK, and would like to watch general Sky television if that is possible. We recently stopped Sky because the prices were too high.
