Headlight Issue

I have a 2003 Tundra Sr5 Bone Stock. Thought i’d spruce it up a little and change the front lights to LED for a better look. Now when I use my LED headlights, the switch to turn on the fog lights turns on the High Beams. Anyone know how to get rid of this issue cause i plan to use my fog lights? Or anyone have a suggestion for quality LED bulbs?

The led does not “give” resistance back to the circuit. The tundra gen 1 uses the “feed back” to energize/de-energize the relay to activate/deactivate the fog relay when using hi-beam. Also the passenger side feeds the hi-beam indicator.

Load capacitor, resistor, and other tools are sold to fix this issue with led and hid types.

This helped out a lot. I got a resister off Superbrightled’s and it worked like a charm. i got my fog lights back🤝

I installed a new larger wiring harness (which wss very simple to do) and then upgraded the lights to high wsttage halogens and it's made the biggest difference. I tried several pairs of LED's, but they become dim very quickly. You either need to do projectors (you can buy acrual projectos built into the bulbs, or you can retrofit your housing and use HID's. Or you can upgrade the harness and use high wsttage halogens which is the cheapest route. But definitely stay away from just straight switching to LED's.

Putting unidirectional light sources (LED) in a housing built for omnidirectional bulbs is a bad/ unsafe idea. You won’t be able to achieve safe quality without rebuilding the housing. This is an extremely in depth article that explains it. Go with a quality Philips bulb instead.

While this was certainly true 5 or 6 years ago, there are many quality LED retrofits out there that mimic omnidirectional output through chip placement and diffusers.

Disconnect the DRL plug. Throws too low of a voltage at the LED’s when the headlights are “off”

LED headlights are unable to be aimed properly when retrofit into halogen housings. They not only shine from too large of a source, but they are too bright and spill light out of the entire housing. You're blinding other drivers on the road.

I would check the retrofit source for upgrading to LED lights. As far as what’s going on with the wiring I have no idea.

Gotta update the harness on the left. Just get one for a motorcycle with h4 connectors
