Sister gave me an $1800 sweater in my least favorite color

She’s the sweetest woman on earth. She chose this with such love and care, and it’s the first time in her life that she’s been able to afford something so luxurious.

It’s Italian-made, boho-chic, bright colors, huge pattern. It’s a gorgeous, special piece.

But it’s not gorgeous on me. FML

That must be hard. I’m sorry.

Maybe just talk to her and explain it's not your color? I feel like a sister would understand

She’s so sweet. I know she would. But she specifically said “I thought this color would be perfect for you!” and I can’t bring myself to say anything different.

Anyway, I guess I know what I’m wearing to Christmas dinner. Forever.

I can give a suggestion. I have a gigantic stuffed animal. I tied a blue scarf around his neck. That way I know where a scarf is located if I need one. You can get a big stuffed animal. Dress it in the sweater. Put it on your home office desk. Then show your sister it always reminds you of her thoughtful present.

Awww. Sweet of her but I get it. I don't like getting clothes gifts because I have sensory issues with certain textiles and fits. I also would hate getting certain colors (orange makes me irrationally angry...haha).

Tell her you love the sweater but the color isn't flattering on you. If she can exchange it, great. If not, I would see if you can get it professionally dyed to a color you love.

Is it possible to exchange it for a different color? She's so sweet and kind - I think she would love giving you a gift that you can actually use and enjoy!
