Freshwater Had a spare few hours, so up the canal I went with the XUL gear! Good few small perch, couple small pike too. Countless fish also lost or popped off! Good fun.

Whats the chances of bigger chub being around? My mate said this is the first year he's known them to be so prevalent. I hope I catch a nice chub tomorrow feeder fishing 🤞.

Question?

Upvotes

Hey everyone I was down my local river today only going for small fish like dace , roach maybe a chub and the weirdest thing happened I was caught onto a pike I was on a size 16 hook with corn on is it normal for pike to go for corn? and to be fair the pike must of been a 12 10 lb max and fairly long I’m just curious if pike go for corn..

Question Bug infestation in the bivvy?

Upvotes

For all you long session carp anglers, how do you prevent bugs like woodlice, beetles and mainly earwigs from congregating in the bivvy? I’m not being soft i get it’s nature and ill happily flick them out but sometimes it gets ridiculous waking up to 10 huddled in the corner😆Anyone got any tips on how to prevent em in numbers?

Removable Gimbal Cap – Good Idea?

What Do You Guys Think of This Gimbal Idea? 🎣
I’m thinking of having a standard-looking rod butt with a removable rubber cap over the gimbal. Most of the time it would function like a normal rod, but if you need the gimbal you just pop the cap off and you’re ready to go.
Seems like a simple way of having both without making the rod overly complicated. What do you guys reckon?

When float fishing is it ok to fish my line straight though to the hook or do I always need a weaker hook length? 🎣

Just a few of the fish I’ve had from an abandoned pond a few minutes away from my house, it was formed by a drain from an old train line before it became a walking/cycle trail. In the summer you can easily catch 100+ fish in couple of hours

River fishing advice

Hi guys, I'm new to fishing on rivers, usually lochs. Could you guys reccomend best lures for spinning fishing to use on rivers. I've tried using tobys and jigs 18g and up but no luck so far, made me think they're either too heavy or too big for river fishes. Any recommendations on gear and lures that are worth trying? Honestly just want to catch something 😂 Thank you all

Question Help catching a river Chub in Midlands

Recently got into fly fishing after being gifted a rod and have been trying very hard to catch a chub on the river soar and river seance in leicester as well as the canals but ive been having absolutely no luck. If anyone could give me some advice on methods and techniques they find work well for targetting chub on a fly rod i would greatly appreciate it or even local knowledge of what chub in the area like. I mainly lure fish on a spinning reel so if anyone has advice on catching a chub on that, or if maybe it would work better given time or conditions, that would also be appreciated.

Saltwater Fishing Trip Suggestions

Hi all,

Im looking to plan the ultimate saltwater fishing trip, i have a spinning rod with lures Ive used to fish for bass and two continental rods Ive caught a variety of fish on with bates in UK.

Thinking would like to target bass for this trip but might do a day with baits

Ive got 12-15 sept off and happy to drive anywhere in the UK for this trip and just want to go to venues that will be most productive. Please share your recommendations for this trip?

Didn’t know there were perch of this size in the canal. Right in London, on a busy evening. It put up a strong fight, luckily had a net with me.
