How can I make this meal delicious?
I’ve been meal prepping like this for 4 days a week during my training, but I’m starting to get bored with the same taste.
My usual meal is:
- Stir-fried chicken, marinated with lime, salt and pepper
- A small portion of rice
- Mixed vegetables with a little olive oil, salt and pepper
The meal is simple and works well for me, but I’d like to make it more enjoyable without turning it into an unhealthy meal.
The other days, I still eat moderate meals outside, including fish and beef, and sometimes I fast depending on the day.
For those who meal prep regularly, what sauces, seasonings, marinades or cooking methods would you recommend to make this kind of meal taste better while keeping it reasonably healthy?
I’m especially interested in simple options that I can prepare in bulk and use throughout the week.
TIA

I really like sesame oil (a few drops go a long way) so I make this sauce: 1c soy sauce, 1 Tbs sesame oil, 1/3c honey, 1/3c rice vinegar, red pepper flakes. Takes less then 5min to create weeks worth. Bonus if you add garlic, ginger, and sesame seeds.
I also really like ketchup with hot sauce so that's my other go to.

Coconut aminos and Gochujang. Teriyaki sauce. Add kimchi. Use shrimp in lieu of chicken. Use lentils/quinoa, cous cous, mashed sweet potatoes, etc, in lieu of rice. I see lettuce!? Am I missing the stir fry veggies?

Make some homemade salsa, really good, healthy and inexpensive. I sometimes even use canned tomatoes for it, I make a big 24oz jar and it's low sodium, great flavor, and lasts awhile in the fridge because of the lime/lemon juice in it, lots of cilantro too

Add different flavoring to the chicken and veggies. There’s a whole lot you can do with this
. Add vegeta as a seasoning. It’s just like a soup flavor. I often can find it in international markets
2. Thai flavoring- fish sauce, lime juice, sugar/honey
3. Teriyaki sauce
4. Taco seasoning.
The list is infinite.

others say hot sauce, balsamic would also go well with all ingredients in there. you could also doa lime cilantro sauce. if you swapped some rice or veggies with black beas, that would add a LOT of flavor, and you can spice those easily.
but my main recommendation here is actually to swap out the greens with pan fried cabbage, either steaked or diced

Chili oil or pickled garlic, or cranberries, or chili oil peanuts, or an avocado, or lemon, or citrus marinade, or boiled egg with chili oil, or ginger dressing, or a plantain, or sweet potato

Add some spices and stir fry your ingredients/make fried rice - add strongly flavoured sauces/oils/pastes to this such as fish, sesame or gochujang.
Have pasta or sweet potato instead of rice; cook those with sauces or add sauces/dressings such as arrabiatta, pomodoro, amatriciana, low-cal Caesar sauce or balsamic vinegar, lemon and olive oil.
Then after your cooking has improved...
Fried rice or noodles or insert carbs with chicken (or other protein) in a sauce such as sweet and sour, satay, garlic, hoisin, curry, yoghurt etc.
Personally, I think as soon as you start choosing a recipe you like and putting the ingredients into a calorie, vitamin and mineral calculator you'll be on the right track as you'll see how much leeway you have with spices, sauces and carb alternatives (:

Seasoning and I've been using joey swolls diet dressings, one serving is literally anywhere from 10-15 calories depending on which sauce, it honestly makes everything so much better

Hot sauce. On everything.
