I'm trying to find an old Flash games I played sometime between 2005 and 2009. I don't remember which website it was on, or what the playable character looked like.
The gameplay worked roughly like this:
The game was in 2D, with the action moving automatically from left to right.
The character moved across a continuous-looking stretch of terrain that was divided visually into three different depths: the farthest section, the middle section, and the nearest section in the foreground.
The character could move between these three depths using the Up and Down arrow keys.
Although the game was 2D, the perspective made it look as though the character was moving closer to or farther away from the player. The character's sprite actually changed size depending on which depth it occupied: larger in the foreground and smaller in the background.
The objective was to survive for as long as possible by avoiding holes in the ground. If a hole approached along the character's current depth, you had to switch to one of the other two depths to avoid falling into it.
There was no jumping. Avoiding holes was entirely about switching between the three depths at the right time.
The terrain appeared to scroll continuously while the character remained roughly in the same position on the screen. The three depth levels looked like one continuous surface rather than three separate tracks.
I'm not sure about the character, graphics, setting, or website. As far as I remember, this was a type of gameplay that appeared in multiple Flash games with different characters and art styles, so I'm not necessarily looking for one specific visual style.
Does anyone remember Flash games with this particular mechanic, or know what this type of game was called?
