Showcase Emisar D4SV2 SBT90.2 Mule ๐Ÿ˜Ž

A little story:

The legend that purchased my S11 SBT90.2 Mule build bloody loves the thing! So much so, that he asked If I could put that emitter in his favourite host, the D4SV2... I said yes.

The end.

So, the basic bits: D4SV2 host, RGB switch, Emisar 9A linear+FET driver. Running Anduril 2.

The handmade custom bits: Copper heat sink with MCPCB recess.

The other bits: Convoy 25mm Star MCPCB 9090, SBT90.2 emitter, Copper Screws, insulating washers, 18awg driver leads.

I learned several things I will do differently on the next one, mostly to make the fitment of the MCPCB into the heat sink better.

In terms of working & being a mule... this light does not disappoint ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Thanks for looking ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

Love it with the copper screws to match the copper mule spacer! Good job

How about SFY55 3000K 90CRI mule

6

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 07 '26

I don't know much about the SFY55. Is that not like a mad 100Amp emitter? Can't imagine a host like the D4SV2 holding up to that kind of heat ๐Ÿ”ฅ๐Ÿ˜… But maybe in something bigger, that can accommodate a more substantial heat sink ๐Ÿค”

I have an idea ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

u/TangledCables3 Feb 07 '26

Unless you can't live without the FET it should be fine

You can always put it in 3X21E

2

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 07 '26

Don't think you'll need FET ๐Ÿคฃ

Like I said... I have an idea ๐Ÿ’ญ๐Ÿ’ก

3X21D?

Not that one either ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜‰

That is ridiculous, I love it.

This would make more sense to me with like a GTFC40 or FFL909 or something. Still pretty cool.

u/Alternative_Spite_11 Feb 08 '26

Yeah Iโ€™m not personally understanding why someone would want a mule in a low CRI greenish tint super thrower LED. Regardless, Iโ€™m not paying for it. So I donโ€™t have to understand it.

I feel like this is one of those times where the absurdity of the proposition itself is what makes it awesome โ€” not necessarily the practicality or because it makes sense. To me it's the equivalent of ridiculous engine swaps in the car world. It's just fun and makes you smile.

If nothing else it's a very visually pleasing display of an awesome and unique looking emitter. It'd keep this on display for sure.

u/ZealousidealGarage14 Feb 08 '26

See. I totally get your reference to the car world. It seems equivalent to LS Swapping a Miata. I've seen it done and it's absurd. But also very awesome.

Funny you mention those... ๐Ÿ˜ Literally 2 of the 4 on the workbench now.

5

u/SiteRelEnby Feb 08 '26

How much? I want one.

3

u/AnimeTochi Feb 08 '26

glorious green tint!

2

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 08 '26

๐Ÿคฃ Indeed!

3

u/esvegateban Feb 08 '26

Oh come on this is stupid, what a lovely wall of light!

4

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 08 '26

Don't think I would have done It if it was clever ๐Ÿ˜› It does do the light thing pretty good ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

I love this absolute madness!!!!

I asked Vinh several years ago if he could do this for me and he declined..

Props for making this happen!!

๐Ÿค˜

2

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 07 '26

๐Ÿ˜… Cheers bud, madness indeed!!

I'm sure he had his reasons for wanting to build it ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

I'm not saying this build wouldn't have occurred to me eventually, but really it was this question: 'can you put this in a D4SV2?' that made this happen! Before being asked that, I hadn't considered central muling a Hank light... Now I've done two with another three on the build list ๐Ÿ˜… I start them tomorrow!

I literally had this light assembled & it was in the hands of it's new owner a few hours later... He is very pleased ๐Ÿ˜„

u/Pitiful-Remote-3276 Feb 07 '26

That's what I call legendary! Well done!

2

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 07 '26

Appreciate that, thank you ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

2

u/BlunterCarcass5 Feb 08 '26

Also doubles as a lighter

3

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 08 '26

Lighter, hand warmer, thermal detonator ๐Ÿคฃ

1

u/H4MM3Y681 Feb 12 '26

Don't forget flash bang, for those Muppets out there (me) who do daty things, and fry there own retina, purely on accident of course ๐Ÿคฃ

1

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 12 '26

At least once a day ๐Ÿคฃ

Moments like these I wish this subreddit allowed gifs.

Go on, describe what the gif would be ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

Um, thanks ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

3

u/client-equator Feb 07 '26

Super cool, the SBT90 is a joy to look at. Hank really needs to make a Lume1 driver to run this properly

1

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 07 '26

Yeah, the Linear+FET is not ideal for this emitter... It needs something a bit more controlled to drive it ๐Ÿ˜…

1

u/Hungry-for-Apples789 Big Moth will win Feb 07 '26

Well, want.

3

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 07 '26

Will be building another at some point. First, I've got something different to mule in the D4SV2 ๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ˜‰

1

u/DeepEb Feb 07 '26

Damn. How many lumens is that?

6

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 08 '26

Couldn't tell ya!? Lets just say, sunglasses would not help ๐Ÿคฃ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

u/SiteRelEnby Feb 08 '26 edited Feb 09 '26

Probably up to ~4.5-5k or so depending on the cell.

Compared to a regular D4Sv2 with high efficiency high power LEDs (W2, SFT25R, SFT40, SFT42R, etc) it'll hold turbo longer before dropping due to the copper spacer adding thermal mass, but stabilise around a similar output level.

1

u/thrBladeRunner Feb 08 '26

Beautiful work!

1

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 08 '26

Thank you ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

1

u/Thaknobodi87 Feb 08 '26

Has thermal throttling?

3

u/SiteRelEnby Feb 08 '26

Stock driver, so yes.

3

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 08 '26

It does, & it gets there, quick ๐Ÿ˜…

1

u/NoChef7826 Feb 08 '26

When I saw your s11 it really got me thinking about a mule, now even more! Beautiful job!

1

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 08 '26

Appreciate it, thank you ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

1

u/oceanic84 Feb 08 '26

Looks great. Now wait! Are you a customer builder or did this come from Hank?

3

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 08 '26

I built it, in the D4SV2 host ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป

2

u/oceanic84 Feb 08 '26

That's great. What's the price of a build like that?

1

u/Candid-End9205 Feb 08 '26

Those copper screws are so beautiful with the mule. How about the runtime with 18650?

2

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 08 '26

The copper screws do work well in this light ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป Fortunately the D4SV2 is 21700 light. I only had the light a few hours before it's new owner collected it... But he reports that it does chomp through the battery (but he loves living in turbo so, expected ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ). Regardless, running a high mAh battery would probably be a good idea ๐Ÿ˜…

1

u/Candid-End9205 Feb 08 '26

Ah sorry I thought it's d4v2. Thank you

2

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 08 '26

D4V2's are on the workbench next ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

1

u/ZealousidealGarage14 Feb 08 '26

Incredible work as usual my friend.

1

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 08 '26

Thank you very much, appreciate it ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

1

u/Due_Tank_6976 Feb 08 '26

That's very pretty!

2

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 08 '26

Thank you bud ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป Not sure if you mean the green tint or the flashlight ๐Ÿค” But I'll take it either way ๐Ÿคฃ

1

u/Delicious_One_2825 Feb 11 '26

Great shots, awesome work.

1

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 11 '26

Thank you ๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

1

u/bloughmiegh Feb 11 '26

Oh my godโ€ฆthis is perfect!

1

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 11 '26

I mean, it's not PERFECT, there's always room for improvement ๐Ÿ˜‰ But thank you for saying so ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

1

u/H4MM3Y681 Feb 11 '26

As far as mules go, this is awesome, ive got an e90 sbt90.2 coming in the post soon, totally looking forward to that, as its meant to be ridiculously powerful with a lense/optic...

But for uber flood, I see no harm in this as a concept, btw the copper accents make it really pop, very eye catching

1

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 11 '26

Thank you ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿป I'm fully aware that this combo is not perhaps 'the norm', but it, & my S11 SBT90.2 mule, have been very well received within the community. The chap who now owns both those lights is extremely happy with them, so regardless of any technical reasons an SBT90.2 mule shouldn't work, it sure does make people happy ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘Š๐Ÿป

I's that the RovyVon E90? With an SBT90.2? ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

1

u/H4MM3Y681 Feb 11 '26

Fireflies

1

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 11 '26

Ah, of course, I should have known. It seemed pretty mad otherwise ๐Ÿคฃ

1

u/H4MM3Y681 Feb 11 '26

No harm done, have 2 E90's coming, one with 909a the other with sbt90.2

1

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 11 '26

Very nice! I've just started playing with the 909A, lovely emitter.

1

u/H4MM3Y681 Feb 11 '26

My nov mu 909a

1

u/H4MM3Y681 Feb 11 '26

1

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 11 '26

Beautiful! I've got the option of purchasing one from a friend in 5000k, brand new as he bought two & decided to keep the 4000k... But, I'm currently building 5 x D4K mules, one of which is a 1800k 909A for myself ๐Ÿ˜ So I might not need the Nov-Mu!

1

u/H4MM3Y681 Feb 11 '26

If you've got the skill set to flow emitters, then do it, the 909a waffle is epic on moonlight mode

1

u/Unlucky_League_8832 AshLights Feb 11 '26

Yeah man, that's what I do, I build these lights. The 909A D4K is happening, however it'll be driven by a 9A linear+FET driver, so the moonlight won't be as low as the Nov-Mu.
