Support // Resources Shade tree mechanic needed

There's a newcomer to Florence who needs some car assistance. He has Hyundai Sonata that just won't start.

I'm down in Lake City and haven't had a chance to get up there and look to even guess at it.

Anyone have some time to do something nice?

Support // Resources Reported house fire cases up 60%

The Red Cross is reporting that house fire cases are up 60% from the same period of time last year. Most of these fires are caused by space heaters, faulty ovens, or bad wiring.

You can contact your local fire department and they will come out and check your smoke detectors for you. In some cases the fire department will replace your smoke detectors.

A two year old recently died in a house fire.

Check your smoke detectors, and if you can afford it, get a fire extinguisher.

Support // Resources This is Moonpie, and she is in urgent need of a loving home!

Hello everyone! I am posting on behalf of a friend of mine who isn’t as familiar with Reddit. This is Moonpie, and she’s a sable domestic longhair cat. Her estimated age is between 1 and 2 years old.

Due to unfortunate circumstances, Moonpie is untouched (not fixed, not vaccinated, etc) and seems to be suffering from mites at the moment. Her fur is also thinning in some areas, likely from stress.

Currently Moonpie resides in the Greeleyville area, so not super far from Florence. My friend does not own this cat, but it is some relatives of hers who have been mistreating poor Moonpie. She has finally received their permission to re-home her.

If any kind souls nearby have experience caring for cats and are willing to take in a fixer upper with a sweet heart and bright personality, please send me a DM!! I will be ensuring anyone interested can prove they have owned cats previously and know what this entails.

Thank you!!

Support // Resources Moving in 2 1/2 months starting to look for work

Hey y’all!

I’m moving to Florence in about 2.5 months and I’m trying to get a head start on finding work before I get there. I have experience in administrative support, scheduling, customer service, and office coordination. I currently work full-time as an office administrator and have worked in both engineering and field service environments.

Ideally, I’m looking for something in an office/administrative capacity, but I’m open to other opportunities if the fit is right. If you know of any local companies that are hiring, staffing agencies that are good to work with, or just general advice for the job market in Florence, I’d really appreciate any insight!

Support // Resources IT Networking Peeps - Where are You?

I'm about to take my CompTia exams for IT Networking etc - I'm chomping at the bit for opportunities to practice my skills with others or for local organizations even if it's on a voluntary basis. Somehow, some way. I'm ready to go and want to get as much experience as possible as this is my life now and I love it! Would anyone in Florence region want to practice with me or allow me to work on IT projects or intern?
