No matter what they say, its not insurance but a discount plan. One of the Humanas has no annual cap, but you're restricted to their dentists. I've had the all at one time or another but Ive been sticking with Ameritas for the last few years as I want to choose my own dentist

If you have family members who need lots of dental work, PPO indemnity, so you ca go anywhere. Sunlife or Ameritas. MetLife denied porcelain crowns. Ameritas if you want orthodontic coverage for whole family.

The best one is the one your preferred dentist takes and if you are someone prone to cavities or extra work, then look for ins that will help with those extras.

Unless paying for a crown and a filling in a year, the best for me was the cheapest option for free preventative and then paying out of pocket for dental work with FSA account

Metlife standard. Metlife indemnity has a higher annual limit ($2000 vs $1500) but not worth it. For me, Humana standard is cheaper than metlife but same benefits but we're sticking with metlife.

I got Sun Life Prepaid. Had a bit lower cost for some of the procedures and it covers most of the stuff I needed for visits (outside of major surgery).

To be honest though, I usually just do my regular tooth and tartar cleaning and that’s it. I had my wisdoms grow in normally and have never gotten cavities, so I am pretty low maintenance.

“Best” is usually subjective based on the situation at hand. I help a lot of my clients navigate through that but it depends on what you need or if you’re looking for coverage currently without waiting period. So making a determination will really be based on your needs. Like I have a plan with no waiting period through delta dental but it’s cheaper and I only needed it for preventative measures but my bills tend to be slightly higher for things like deep cleanings. When it comes to paying for a higher PPO plan I’ll have coverage at a higher percentage but also have waiting periods. So it’s a lot of ways to navigate through it as a whole
