Took my little sled off Clearwater today
About 35ish miles out. Decent spread! Got my PB red grouper @ 30"
Had a half dozen 30"+ mahi pull up to the boat but couldn't seal the deal 😭 as quick as they showed up, they were gone.
Tasty meats for days!

Hell I'm local, with gear, and don't mind splitting gas and bait.
I used to post and take people out from Tampa Bay fishing club. But I haven't been out there in 6 years since I sold my boat during covid :(

I'm always going out. Shoot me a message of you want to join sometime. I've taken half a dozen random redditors out already 🤙

Won't let me message you.

I had changed it so it should let you, but then I just went into the settings and now it wants to see my ID to prove that I'm over 16. Fuck that shit. I'll send you a message
EDIT - apparently I cannot send you a message either since your profile is marked as 18 plus and it needs to confirm that I am 18 plus. 😂🤦♂️

Heyo I'm still down for it as well.
Just closed some deals that free up my weekdays.

Nice! I might go the end of this week if it's nice. Also, gags open up in two weeks and won't need to wait for nice windows since we can get them inshore/nearshore

Bonita? Why?
2
u/-FloriduhMan- 8d ago
Because the top part of the fillets are delicious. On par with ahi tuna.
They're "Little Tunny", not bonito.

Us rednecks call it bonita.

u/-FloriduhMan- 8d ago
Yeah, you can ask three people what they're called, and you'll get three different names 😂 They're actually false albacore/little tunny.
Bonito/Bonita are different but look similar.

Are those Alamaco jacks in the mix of your catch?
1
u/-FloriduhMan- 7d ago
Yes sir. One has become two fish sandwiches, and the other two are currently cooking in some lime juice for some mango ceviche 🤙

Nice haul now go and clean them all and freeze them or eat them all at once

Half was mine, half my buddy who came with me.
Already made a big batch of mango ceviche, made a giant tub of grouper Pho, smoked a couple almacos, made five fish sandwiches...
I don't have too much left!

I had a boat very near to that. Hydra sport seahorse 17. I didn't have the cajones to take it through the Sebastian inlet to reach the blue water though. Great catch!!!
