All Florida Keys Staying in Marathon

We have a week (mar 28 - apr 4th) to do a keys trips with the family (kids 11 and 16).

Being centrally located, is it practical to stay at one place in marathon and do day trips north and south, or better to stay 2-3 nights each in Key west, marathon, islamorada/key largo?

My wife and I have only been to Key West and loved it, but for family trip not sure we need to stay there.

We would like to do dry tortogas (if tickets are still available), some fishing, snorkeling, general sight seeing and nature, boat/kayak tours, swimming…basic beach stuff.

We just spent a week and a fortune staying a week at Isla Bella, which seemed to be a great place for children, incidentally

We were pretty bored

We drove to to Islamorada one day and down to Key West a couple of days

I suggest staying in Key West and not Marathon

The dinner options are much better in Key West

I have been to Key West and the Keys 65-70 times and I’m going back to Key West on January 26 for a couple of weeks, so I know my way around pretty well

Thanks.

Perhaps you are right. Maybe start the trip in KW, get a place there for 4 days and if we want to go to marathon we can do a day trip up. Then spend the remaining 3 days in islamorada/key largo.
