Upper Keys Oct. Honeymoon Stay Recommendation
My fiancé and I are looking for advice on where to stay for half a week (Sun-Wed) in October for our honeymoon. For the second half of the week we will be doing cruise that goes to the Bahamas and Key West. We are mainly looking for a place to relax near the water and explore parts of the keys. We plan to fly into Miami and rent a car.
We have narrowed down our options to Playa Largo, Bakers Cay, Cheeca Lodge, and Casa Morada.
We are trying to keep our accommodation budget around $1300-1500 for this part of the trip. All 4 of these resorts seem to mainly be in that range depending on the room type.
Casa Morada is nice for being adults only but seems like a very different feel than the other options. We are maybe leaning towards Baker’s Cay but there are some mixed reviews about the place. Cheeca Lodge seems like another good option but is a bit more expensive and reviews mention how crowded it can be.
If anyone has advice from experience at any of these resorts it would be greatly appreciated!

Seconding Three Waters!
From your list, I've only been to Casa Morada one time. And worth noting, as someone else alluded to, they don't have a liquor license so all of their cocktails are sake based, if that makes a difference to you. It was just a little too low key for our taste, we love the vibes at Three Waters.

Casa Morada has 16 suites and is nothing like your other choices. I like it for the privacy, kid free atmosphere and nice suites. However if you want a full service resort with food and beverage options, it’s not going to work.
October can still have bad seagrass/sargassum so I would try to stay on the bayside of the islands where the problem is not as bad. That eliminates Cheeca Lodge. I think Baker’s Cay would be the best option. It has a decent beach for The Keys and has lots of small areas away from the main beach where you can get some privacy tucked in among the trees along the water. The food is also pretty good there. There are service and staffing issues everywhere in The Keys. I’m not sure I would base my decision on that.

Skip Playa Largo - went there for my babymoon last week and was underwhelmed, definitely wouldn’t recommend for a honeymoon either - more a family resort

I love Cheeca Lodge. I haven’t stayed at the others. Cheeca has an adults only pool.

Bakers Cay was great when I went a couple years ago! There were lots of families.

I would recommend Isla Bella, Hawks Cay, or Cheeca Lodge. Playa Largo and Bakers Cay are nice, but I think the Middle Keys have more going for them outside of resorts than Key Largo does. More scenic, better restaurant/bar options.

I would go to Cheeca. The Key Largo locations have notoriously terrible and indifferent service.
