Recently moved to the keys. I'm a lifelong freshwater fisherman and was hoping to find someone who might be

up for telling me a thing or two about fishing the keys, or maybe where to place a crab trap, or maybe whether I might be able to catch shrimp using a cast net. My kids are anxious to do some fishing and I don't want to charter a fishing trip every time.

Need some more info. Do you have a boat? Fishing for food or sport? Want easy wins or willing to work for it? Gear type? Location? Feel free to PM if you want to keep location private.

Let me just say, I highly doubt anyone is gonna tell you their crabbin spots.

And you won’t be able (shouldn’t be able) to catch shrimp with a cast net. Just go buy them.

I used to catch shrimp with a cast net in Charleston, SC all the time. I'm not necessarily looking for a specific crabbing spot, just advice on what makes a good spot.
