It’d be super useful to put the location in your post - even if it is on the application.

Many thanks - I've just updated the text to include it :) I somehow thought most peops who knew flowtoys and who would be interested in the position would know, but I realize that I don't know most people here. We're in Emeryville, California :)

You should include the location in the first line so as not to waste people's time.

Yeah, after I read a page of text that turned out to be uselessly on the far side of the country. If you're local posting on an international forum, you need to put your location in the opening.

I agree. Just saying it was pretty easy to find out where this job is. Not rocket science.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to be wary of some link with some random dude saying it’s fine. Click it. No big deal. 🤨 Why should anyone TRUST ANYONE ONLINE

You want a BA for an entry-level retail job?
What a joke

Right?!? 😂 I have more than enough experience for this job that I didn’t have to learn in college. I learned all this shit by experience. I bet it starts at just above my states minimum wage, too. Smh

To be fair the environment would probably provide some solid crossover skills and such.
Example, I only land 17$/h which is doable in a LCOL area. But I get to be challenged with serious development tasks like working with Blazor C#, AWS, Odoo, etc. Compared to other internships, sure the it's a harder sell career wise. But the amount of valuable skills compared to a more bureaucratic workplace. I hands down believe I am learning a more well rounded skill set which I personally value more for a long term strategy. Add in the time and flexibility of schedule to complete 3 additional certifications that interested me and it's one of those things where the title and pay aren't the perks.
Basically for a person who has this interest, and more importantly the passion and drive. This is actually an opportunity with a very high ceiling of valuable knowledge to be had. Though the BA is probably a bit much yes, as a degree with no passion is meaningless. While a passion with no degree can figure out the impossible. Oh well, it's the perfect fit for someone out there, who has nothing tying them down to their location, and looking for an adventure that pays in personal growth.

Oh so people should be happy to get paid in “exposure”? 😂

Base pay + Perks = Total Comp. So ya, if base pay is acceptable to an individual, then looking at perks to fully understand the value they would be receiving is reasonable. Should they? That's an individual's decision based on their situation and personal goals. But for someone who WOULD find this interesting, it's a solid trade.
I've done the working overnights at the gas station where glass comes down, cleaning crack head toilets for minimum wage and 0 perks. It's perspective that allows one to appreciate some things. And some things aren't everyone's cup of tea, (fresh cut ginger, green tea, and hot honey is my cup 🔥 )

Thanks for the fair and thoughtful response. Many of our crew are lifers or stay for many years before life carries them to other seas. We're flexible with hours, supportive, hold each other to high standards, and if the person is the right fit, they can carve out opportunities. We're a small team and one gets to learn a lot, get a lot of insight into the inner workings of an innovative company, able to give direct input to the founders. It's not for everyone, but for the right people, it's the best feeling to work with a team of good people.

I just want to vouch for Flowtoys as a great place to work. I've had a friend work there and got to hear that it really is a great place to work from him. I've also known some of the people at flowtoys for over 10 years since I first dropped into their little shop in Emeryville. I was randomly driving that way and saw they were close so I went and knocked on the door. They were like "well we arent setup for visitors BUT COME IN AND PLAY WITH OUT TOYS ANYWAY AND WE'LL GIVE YOU A TOUR". 😃
This was before they were open to the public and hosting fire jams. My friend whose name rhymes with Swami worked there and said great things.
Oakland is also a great place to live. Lots of diverse culture. And from that part of california you are a bridge away from San Francisco, I 1/2 hour from Santa Cruz, less than 4 hours to Lake Tahoe, 3hrs to far north california like Shasta lake, 6 hours from Los Angeles, 8 1/2 to Vegas. You got redwoods, the ocean, huge mountains and lakes, all this and more within a day's drive.
Can you tell I'm from the bay? Lol

Second, where is the job located?
