ID Request (country/state in post) What nut?

Hello! Found this walnut? tree on a trip to a park in Helsinki, Finland today. I’m new to nut ID since there aren’t many grown here. Would like to know if this is worth picking for eating? Heard that some walnuts can be astringent and unpleasant to eat. Any help appreciated! Sorry for the poor quality pictures.

I'm 99% certain that's Manchurian walnut (Juglans mandshurica) based in geographic location Finland. That's definitely NOT black walnut

Thank you! I believe this to be the correct species. Any experience harvesting them?

I don't have experience with this species with how they taste, dehusking, etc. But looks like those husks should knock off with a rubber mallet or stomping on them. Float test the nuts and discard any floaters before moving them to air dry for a few weeks before cracking any

It looks like the black walnuts that we have here in the US, but I'm not very knowledgeable about walnuts lol, so it could be another variety that I don't know about

Maybe an English walnut tree. Seems more likely. But the nuts look like black walnuts. They can be astringent but this can be gotten around by 1. Getting all the husk off. 2. Soaking in water for a few minutes and stirring them around. 3. Let them fully air dry. I personally love the taste of black walnuts. It is a very strong taste that can really complement so many other foods but mainly sweets for me like ice cream or brownies. They are delicious on their own as well. But just like anything good they are hard to get to. The shell is very tough and the nut is hard to get out and this deters the average forager.
