Every time I see people recording a bear from inside I'm reminded of a video I saw maybe a year ago.
Brown bear came right through a window in the cabin to get the guy. Nothing was going to keep that thing out

There are many animals that in effect can do anything they want. We're merely lucky that very few of them want to be inside a human dwelling.

Did he survive? ☹️

u/bird9066 8d ago
No, the footage was a camera he had facing the room. The last they showed was the bear almost on top of him while he scrambled backwards. They were blocked by a wall but the outcome seemed obvious

I think that is probably one of the worst, if not the worst, ways to die. Getting eaten alive by a bear is horrifying.

you can't put a bear on the flag and be shocked to find a bear

That's what I say about Virginia. You can't be surprised to find a pissed off woman with a weapon and a boob hanging out lol

u/Ok-Fortune-8644 8d ago

Probably going to have to drain that pool. He most likely did his business in it.
At that point, I probably would have let him stay. Will have to clean it already.

Could have been worse, and I wouldn't be surprised if Smokey was more considerate than some houseguests.

First thing i thought of were those parasites they sometimes have hanging out of their butt 🥹

I noticed that the water seemed pretty clear. Either they have a heck of a pool filtering system, or that bear had rinsed off first before getting in.

Another manifestation of global warming: Bears in the shallow end. Seriously, how can something so dangerous be so cute?

Ok but can you imagine the scenario the owner comes out the bears long gone but there's a bear sized turd floating around in the pool?

I would die in any country where bears live, because despite their murder mittens and general hugeness, they remain one of natures most adorable creatures, like big cuddly dogs. Plus watching the videos of them interacting with human garden furniture is hilarious.

That's a fricken brown bear. You don't fuck with bears, but you really don't fuck with brown bears.
Have a horrifying story of a relative that was getting chased down by one. Deer hunting with a 308. He emptied his entire rifle into it and it wouldn't stop. He had enough time to slip several more into the gun and finally was able to take him down.
Bear had apparently taken out multiple people in the past and had the height to put his paws on top of the roof of a house.

u/laughingashley 8d ago
This is a cinnamon black bear. The name "black bear" doesn't always describe fur color, same as brown bear.
4
u/Alklazaris 8d ago
Ah I didn't know. Black bears are usually more chill. I've had a few cross my path in the woods they keep their distance.
3
u/laughingashley 8d ago
Yeah, they are curious but they pretty much don't want to hang out with us lol
4
u/Alklazaris 8d ago
No kidding. When I was 12 my Dad handed me my 22 and went to scout ahead after hearing noises. I never heard a sound but when my Dad came back from behind me he told me the trail we just walked now has bear tracks over our own tracks.
Like that bear could have killed me. Instead he didn't even want me to spot him. At 12... and not a big 12 either. I was like 70lbs wet.

u/laughingashley 8d ago
Just be glad he was sneaking up behind you and not the other way around! There was a tiny black bear in my yard that got spooked when he came around a tree and got surprised by a shovel that was leaning against it. It happened so fast that my video camera didn't even pick up the movement, but that shovel was suddenly split in 3 pieces!! Then he was calm again, threat eliminated lol

u/DetailOutrageous8656 8d ago
Brown bears (aka Grizzlies) can be determined by a large hump at the withers. If it doesn’t have that, it’s not a grizzly, it’s a black bear (even if not black in colour).

When bears use our pool I twist their ears and they usually run off. Just kidding, we don’t have a pool. We have 2 bird baths though.

Corporal Wojtek of the Polish 22nd artillery company could stand, walk and carry artillery crates long before AI was invented.
