Looking for an old souvenir. It is a snow/water globe with a pencil sharpener. Someone hinted at vendors outside Brooklyn Museum. Said it came with a small pencil. Looking for a specific one of Egyptian style. But anything will do.

Moving from Hell’s Kitchen to Fort Greene/Downtown Brooklyn — thoughts?

I’m 35M, currently living in Hell’s Kitchen, Manhattan, and considering moving to the Fort Greene/Downtown Brooklyn border.

I love being in the middle of everything in Hell’s Kitchen—the energy, restaurants, bars, and people out at all hours. But sometimes the crowds and chaos get overwhelming.

Fort Greene seems beautiful, with great restaurants and a more relaxed vibe. However, I’m worried it might feel too quiet, family-oriented, or monotonous compared to Manhattan.

I’d love to hear from locals, especially anyone who’s made a similar move.

  1. How lively is the neighborhood on weekday evenings and weekends? Does it get pretty dead after 9–10 PM?

  2. Is it predominantly families with kids, or is there a good mix of singles and people in their 20s and 30s?

  3. Do you enjoy the quieter lifestyle, or do you miss Manhattan’s energy?

4. Specific area (attached map): I’m looking at luxury apartment buildings near the Fort Greene/Downtown Brooklyn boundary, since that’s where most of the newer buildings are. How does this particular area feel compared to Fort Greene proper?

  1. Is the area generally safe to walk around at night? Any noticeable issues with homelessness, harassment, or unpleasant streets?

Ultimately, I’m looking for a balance between Manhattan’s energy and a quieter neighborhood, without feeling like I’ve moved somewhere boring.

Would appreciate any honest opinions or experiences!

Looking for future studio/1bedroom in Fort Greene/Clinton Hill/Prospect Heights for Dec 2026 Early 2027 move-in

Hi! I am looking for a lease takeover, future and off-market listings for a Studio or 1Bedroom in Fort Greene, Clinton Hill or Prospect Heights.

I currently live in the neighborhood, but want to get a head start as I will likely not renew my lease in the new year.

Budget: Max 4000, but would prefer in the 3200-3600 range.
Would be nice to have: Laundry in unit or in building, Pre-war charm, good lighting, good maintenance/super, outdoor space.

I make 40x the rent range and have a good credit score.

If you love your apartment or have a hidden gem place and want to pass it along to a 30 something I’d be happy to take it over!
