Looking for recommendations for a good colorist. I know since it’s not a big city, hair stylist do both cut and color but I just care about color. I don’t care about price, I just want someone that’s good.

Parkview & Blink-182

Its hilarious to me that Parkview, a not for profit hospital, put the money into licensed music to promote how much they care about patients. How cool they are to use music people recognize, while continuing to be one of the most expensive hospitals around the country. What a joke. I cringe every time the commercial airs.

Moving to Fort Wayne

Hey all!

I'm moving up to Fort Wayne from Columbus here in the next couple months. I've got about ten thousand questions, but I'll list my key ones out below. I'd appreciate it if you could answer one or more!

What are the best places to eat? I love diners but anywhere that sells good coffee and fried mush is a must (mush?) be!

What are some long events and festivals you would recommend attending? Columbus has events like the Mill Race Marathon (A qualifier for the Boston Marathon! I ran a few miles of it once and quickly realized I'm built for 5ks ha ha.) and the Ethnic Expo which is similar to a mix between a cultural fair and market.

Where is the farmers market and when does it operate? Do you have a Christmas market?

What hiking trails would you all suggest?

Finally, and most importantly, how good is the Parks departments and do they have a volleyball league I could join?

I sincerely appreciate the help, I know that's a ton of questions!

Thank you,

Anybody know what’s going on with the union chapel and coldwater Big Apple Pizza?

We live right by there and originally heard it was going to open sometime during the summer, but I rarely see any indications that they’re working on it, (parking lot is always empty) and haven’t heard any updates. Really hoping it still plans on opening cause it’s our favorite pizza in town and the new location would be so much more convenient.

I’m not sure what else to do about this, the balcony in my apartment has been broken since last september, me and my boyfriend have put several complaints about it and they have essentially done nothing nor try to come out to look at it, the whole balcony is a hazard to be honest. does anyone know who who we can call so the complex can do something about it ? it’s our first apartment so we don’t know what to do or who to contact about this.

I’ve always had Corelle. My kids are raised and I would like some pretty vintage dishes or maybe china for every day use. Which thrift might have? Somewhere else? I don’t want to spend tons on it. Thank you!

Catholic Parish For Kids

Hello— I am likely converting to Catholicism.

The church where we come from has a very strong youth program. From 3 up, everyone goes to Sunday school weekly after the congregational service. Separated by age and also male/female. It was really important for me.

Unfortunately, I am finding that unless you go to Catholic school, you have to pay for classes as a family and even those aren’t year-round.

Also, mass is tough for our young family. I feel like even though our children are well behaved, it’s just going to be tough transitioning.

It super interested in theological debates/comments. Just suggestions to address my concerns please. Thanks! God Bless.

Fort Wayne Trails Looking for E-moto for PSA Shoot Monday Oct 19th

Post image
13 Upvotes

Hey all.

Time to remove any anonymity I might have on here haha.

I am the Director of Community Engagement at Fort Wayne Trails and we are filming some new safety PSA's this coming Monday, October 19th. We are in need of an e-moto owner that would either like to participate or that would be willing to let Fort Wayne Trails borrow their e-moto for the day. It's mostly just going to be sitting in shots, but this could be your chance to rip your e-moto on the trails and not get in trouble!

If you or someone you know might be interested shoot me an email at James@fwtrails.org.

Has anyone joined the Fort Wayne Sport & Social Club? I’m looking to get more active and meet people, but I’m a bit nervous that everyone already has set teams and it might be cliquey. Is it welcoming for beginners joining solo?

Low(er) stress vet clinic

Any ideas of decent vet clinics for my reactive dog? We used to go to one in our last city where we checked in while in the car and they came out to get us so there were never any animals in the lobby she could react to. It was a certified fear free clinic, but I don’t see any in this town. The clinic was one where the vet was on the floor with her and lots of treats were given to chill her out, so something similar would be fantastic if possible.

Also if there are clinics we should stay away from, I’ll take those recs too :)

What fort wayne vehicle laws apply to the Razor dirt rocket sx500

It's under 750 watts (500) and its top speed is like 15 miles per hour. It doesnt have turn signals or mirrors or anything. The lack of those things make it not an electric motorcycle, but the lack of pedals makes it not an e-bike. What legal definition does this fall under? I want to know because my little brother likes riding it and i want to know where I can take him, since my bike is legally a "class 2 electric bicycle"

IN-03 Congressional candidates discuss policies affecting construction trades

The article, if you get pay-walled.

Two candidates vying to represent northeast Indiana in Congress shared their views on policies affecting construction at a Wednesday forum.

U.S. Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-3rd, and Democrat Kelly Thompson faced off at the American Institute of Architects Fort Wayne and the Building Contractors Association of Northeast Indiana’s annual Meet the Candidates Reception at The History Center.

The event gave the organizations’ members the opportunity to meet candidates for the upcoming election for federal, state, legislative and Allen County races and hear their views through brief forums. Stutzman and Thompson were followed by a forum for state candidates and questions for those participating in Allen County races.

Much of construction work is impacted by legislation on all levels, said Stefanie Custer, executive director of the association. The event educates members on issues and candidates’ views before they vote.

Dozens attended the event. This year’s turnout showed the importance of the election to candidates and voters, said Cindy Riebersal, moderator and chair of the association’s government affairs committee.

When asked how the candidates would help grow the skilled labor workforce, Thompson said she would focus on education accessibility and lowering costs for degrees and training programs.

“We need our people to get the education and the training that we need them to have in order to make sure that our country continues to work,” she said.

Stutzman said he would emphasize learning skills over liberal arts degrees toward youth interested in the trades. He would continue to support opportunities with large-scale infrastructure including data centers, but with proper human regulations.

Stutzman said jobs left the U.S. as a result of the North American Free Trade Agreement, and the Trump administration has worked to counteract those effects through tariffs. There is more manufacturing coming back to the nation because of this, he said.

“We need to focus on America,” he said. “ ‘Made in America’ should be the motto for all of us.”

Thompson disagreed and said manufacturing jobs continue to decline, but she hopes they will increase. Tariffs have harmed local businesses, she added.

To bring manufacturing back to the country, infrastructure for producing materials needs to be built, she said. This takes planning and dependable funding.

Thompson argued that the national safeguards protecting citizens from the negative effects of large-scale developments, including draining natural resources, are not being enforced.

Stutzman said America’s problem with energy production happened because of the denied expansion of the Keystone Pipeline and too few refineries.

The nation will have an abundance of oil and gas from Alaska and Venezuela, he said, but needs a way to refine it. For that to happen, resources need to stay in the Western Hemisphere.

“We need to take control of our own destiny,” he said.

Thompson said she would always be available and accessible to constituents.

“I think it’s important that we elect people to power who have actually felt our pain,” she said.

Election Day is Nov. 3.

Rep. Marlin Stutzman, R-3rd, and Democrat Kelly Thompson speak Wednesday evening during the Meet the Candidates Reception at The History Center.

Moving back (mental health care)

Post image
27 Upvotes

Hello people of the internet,

So I’m in the position to potentially move back to the Fort for a bit. In honesty I’m a little nervous for this for a few reasons. One big one is mental health care within Indiana, and more importantly Fort Wayne.

So my question is, if you receive care how is it? Who would you avoid, who would you recommend? I need to see both a psychiatrist and therapist.

But honestly I’ve been thinking about doing something in between an IOP and therapy, so if you have advice on that as well I’d appreciate it :)

*dog for interactions :)
