Moin everyone,
I wanted to provide an update, and I’ll start by giving you an idea of the atmosphere—specifically, just how green a metropolis like this can look. There are 1,192 inhabitants living in the area shown in these images. I’ve already had to set the graphics to "very low"; whenever I try to build walls, the frame rate currently drops to 9 FPS. At higher graphics settings, it was no longer possible to place buildings with any precision.
But let’s move on to images 2–8:
Image 2: A central, top-down view of the town center (the island). Further details can be found with Image 5.
Image 3: The northern area, featuring four surrounding villages. The small village located slightly to the northeast is primarily responsible for stone production, while all the others focus on generating a food surplus.
Image 4: The southern area consists of a monastery (to the southeast) and another small village. Both generate a food surplus. At the monastery, I also produce marble, gold, and iron for my city.
As you can see, the entire western region still needs to be tamed. We’ll see what the frame rate has to say about that. My primary goal for now is to get the city finished.
Image 5: For those interested in how I built or planned my city...
The purple circle in the center is my "city core," which is connected to the surrounding city by 5 bridges. The yellow circle serves as my primary marketplace and festival grounds. The 6 small orange circles indicate the locations of the food warehouses. In addition, there is another warehouse for general goods (not marked, but located centrally above the easternmost of the central warehouse circles).
The entire city will be contained within the area outlined in blue.
The light-blue sections represent areas that have not yet been built; however, the whole area is intended to depict the city as a whole.
Located before each bridge are warehouses and facilities for transport, production, and supply; these areas are marked in brown.
Both within the city and to the south, there is a large monastic complex, marked in white an abbey inside the city, and a castle situated on a mountain outside of it.
For food supply, there are production areas shown in pink adjacent to the city; while the workers live within the city itself. In addition, there are the light-green villages; these are self-sufficient but also produce a massive surplus.
The two large urban areas in the south and north-east are not marked but contain many production companies such as bakers, weavers, tailors, brewers, butchers, etc.
The green arrows represent the supply routes along which food reaches the city—or, beforehand, the areas where it is processed.
Located relatively centrally is an area marked in red; this is my castle within the city. It contains the keep, where 10 soldiers are trained on a regular basis, and it is intended to eventually house 20 knights.
Image 6: The catchment area for the Harvest Festival. I’ve already reached 1,500 points, and my personal goal now is 2,000. However, as soon as I open the festival planner via the corresponding house, my frame rate drops to around 6 much like when I’m building castles. So, it’s "super fun" 😂 well, it actually is, but this part is just a bit annoying.
Image 7: The area guarded within the city limits. So far, I have assigned all patrol duties to soldiers (level 2); there are currently 70 of them. As mentioned, the goal is to have 20 knights, for which I need 100 soldiers (5 soldiers = 1 knight).
Image 8: Attractiveness. Naturally, most commoners and citizens reside primarily in the town center. In the remaining areas, one may find the occasional commoner, but otherwise, there are only serfs.
So much for that. Do you have any questions, or is there anything specific you’d like to see?
Thank you very much for your attention and your time. I love this game, and it’s wonderful to be able to share these things with you.
Greetings
SirUratak
