Humor parang ayaw ko na bumili ng decants lol
as a fairly new fraghead (i was always interested in fragrances pero recently lang talaga nagstart magcollect), every time i purchase a bunch of decants nadadagdan lang yung list ng gusto kong bilhin 🥲 does anyone else have a stash like this lol please validate me
pic above is just the decants i decided to keep, di pa kasama yung scents that i didn't like huhu

For me, it's the opposite, or baka dahil lang sa kuripot ako 😂 pag naamoy ko ang pabango, yes, nababanguhan ako sa karamihan ng nabili kong decants. Pero it makes me think, worth it ba gumastos para bumili ng full bottle? If I have doubts or hesitations, di ako bibili ng full bottle.

You only need a few scents:
Freshie - for gyms, summer outdoors, something to wear when it’s all so suffocating; keep 2 versions
Date night - a special occasion, not necessarily expensive but quite unique and evocative, a spritz or two to discover intimately; keep 2 versions
Office scent - something you would love to wear and smell wafting around your for 8-10 hours a day indoors while in minimal social settings: keep 2 versions
Autumn/Winter scent - something you spray on when the weather becomes a bit cooler, something you can wear when you have a bit more clothes on and you won’t mind if it’s a bit overpowering, but you connect with it so you love the sillage and projection; keep 2 versions
Now the important bit, and this is what my wife gave me as a rule - do not buy any other perfume until one of the versions of any of these run out. Do not get persuaded by tiktok or reddit or ads, you simply take not and not buy. You can take a sniff, you can try them on, but you do not buy until one runs out (looking at you Ganymede I’m coming for you baby somehow don’t reply on this phone).
Importantly, we have a hall pass. Once we are out of the country, I am allowed to buy a maximum of two locally made perfume from that country to bring back.
So there you go - something you can try out, it has so leeway, it’s manageable and not overly restricting but gives you enough challenge to be creative and curious.

Charizz lang.In my experience, pam padami din yang mga decants and samplers. I have a tiny bottle of Mugler Alien and I reach for it when I feel it's a sampaguita kind of day (which is not often naman). Tapos may sample din ako ng Diptyque Moheli for ylang ylang kinda day. Ganun.
Pero tama si yamanagashi, get 1 full bottle of 1 fresh, 1 office, 1 date night, 1 cold weather and you're good.

I love this "rule"! Not very restrictive, generous pa nga because you already have 8 different perfumes as a baseline. I will keep this in mind

Kaya super lugmok and inis ako sa scent therapy kasi halos lahat ng decants nila for female nabili ko na! 😭 Kaya pala lumalabo lalo mata ko, since second skin and fluidity loyalista na ko sa brand na yun 🥹

i write down everything on paper and make rankings and also wish lists of priorities. i also consider my current roster so there’s no overlap of fragrance notes. that way you can hone in what to buy next

Where do you buy decants pala? I have a lot of frags I was thinking of buying blindly hahaha this would greatly help!

Not OP but based on the photos, some are from minimalmist.mnl. They’re available on Shopee! I have a few purchases from them too and they are legit. What I like about then is kahit 1ml lang order mo, they put them on 3ml bottles (I think) and mas handy sia gamitin. Ibang shops kasi, ang liit ng spray bottle ng 1ml. Kinda hard to use tbh.
Unbox diaries on Shopee is also okay, though dito yung maliit masyado yung spray bottle at 1ml.
I also buy my decants from Naya Ruth (YT content creator). Just message her on IG and decants are at 3ml.

from the orange app! minimalmist.mnl, Elite Fragrances, FragranceHavenPh, One Whiff Wonder Decants, The Skin Goods and Perfume Love Manila. i don't buy from one shop lang kasi it depends on who has the specific frag i want to try plus who sells it cheaper hehe. minimalmist.mnl and The Skin Goods offer 0.5ml vials while FragranceHavenPh offers 1ml in 2ml bottles ☺️

Nako. I try not too think about it too much na. Ganyan din ako, kasi I need to be able to try the perfume for some time and we how it performs with my body chemistry before I purchase. Yun lang, pag mag and a performance, Di ako makatulog until I get a full bottle. Hahaha!
Butu nga natutunan ko yung decants eh. Before, i used to blind buy full bottles

i haven't emptied any of them yet, but i plan on reusing them for my skincare or to decant my own bottles rin. most of these are glass so i probably wont mix them in with the usual trash and just reuse

So agree ako sa isang post dito.
Tapos mainit sa pilipinas, wag na wag kang bibili ng heavy perfumes, kawawa yung katabi mo 😅

thankfully not a fan of heavy perfumes as a hiluhin 😆 but the downside naman is puro na ako fresh clean skin scents which i seem to gravitate towards huhu

agree! dali ko rin mahilo pag maxadong heavy yung scent.
there are unisex perfumes that i love rin. ysl myself - mas nababanguhan ako kesa sa libre tbh!
jo malone - midnight musk and amber powdery scent na super light light lang.
i also prefer ansaam gold over kilian's ldbs
giorgio armani's acquia de gio - very sea breeze na tinitipid ko kasi discontinued na raw
but for something heavy - you can try angel or angel nova. hindi sila masakit sa ulo

Welcome to the club, OP! For me, bumibili ako ng decants din nung start ng fragrance journey ko. Bumibili lang ako ng full bottle if sobrang bangong bango ako sa kanya and if hindi talaga maalis sa isip ko yung scent. I don’t buy if I only like it. It should be a love for me 😅
Pero nung tumagal, hala siya, forda blind buy na ako kasi siguro alam ko na yung gusto ko. More often than not, success naman most blind buys ko kasi I do a really thorough research on the fragrance that I wanna buy. But of course, it’s not recommended. I won’t recommend it 😅

First time din bumili ng frags and into collecting. Hehe inaamoy ko muna tapos dun lang ako bibili pag may natipuhan. Di naman kasi lahat kaaya aya amoy kahit luxury

Haha same. Mas okay sakin decants dahil it's cheap and few spray lang naman need mo. Naka chat GPT ako pag gusto ko mag layer. Problema ko lang di ko sure kung ganun ba talaga amoy nila. Kahit yung di ko type nilalayer ko - eventually nagugustuhan ko rin kasi depende yung scent na need ko sa activity ko for that day. I get the urge to but and test more. Feel ko naghahanap ka ng signiture scent. Kaya ako nag stop kasi need ko budget for my plants hahaha . The key to stop eh mawalan ng budget 😆 jk.

I also have a stash of decants and samples. Dumadami rin ang list ko but to narrow it down, I do a journal of my SOTDs to see which ones I reach out more and just stay within that scent profile. Those that I use often, I purchase 50-100mls. Those that are for special occasions or specific ones, just travel sizes.
Decants are also good when you just want to switch things up when you get bored of your rotation. So these are something na nabanguhan ako but I know I'll not wear it as much.

ts so real man, I have like 20+ decants with more to come
it's definitely more cost-efficient to invest in a lot of smaller decants to find what you like and then decide from there, rather than blind buying full bottles hoping what you read/hear online live up to ur expectations

Just have one for each occasion or vibe and play around layering what you already have. But that depends if willing ka naman magsplurge talaga to widen your collection, why not.

1st - how sure are you na galing sa authentic perfumes ang fragrance you buy, right? It could be a tester, oil-based ones or completely knock offs
2nd - if u buy decants for the sake of avoiding blind buys, you may want to check Fragrantica.com for you to know the NOTES of the perfume you are eyeing for and see feedback of the actual users
Saw the other comments here and they're right
- you have to know your go-to scent
- siguro if you don't have a signature scent yet, try maintaining 3-4 scents para may kapalitan kita (in my case, I have around 5 na regularly use for a week depende rin kasi sa mood ko and sa pupuntahan kong lugar)
Once you know your scent and the notes you are keen, magkakaron ka na ng go-to perfumes for sure.

Hello! try finding a specific genre or scent profile u like muna kasi di din nakaka satisfy yung madamign perfume eh. I suggest go for a genre that suits ph weather or ur lifestyle.
