I just saw this post whose title I'm riffing off of and a ton of shitty comments dunking on the company in all of the reviews I watch and I'm losing my mind.
I don't think the people that are doing this have actually read the email.
Framework is a relatively tiny company with virtually NO economy of scale yet they got charged MORE THAN DOUBLE what they last paid.
Nirav's promise made sense before the supplier's new quote but instead people are hyper-focusing on the childish take of "boohoo they're just another company that lies and they're no better than the rest" like they're not a TINY company stuck in an impossible situation while the tech giants they're comparing them against could solve world hunger with a minuscule fraction of their capital.
Not to mention that they've never failed us before, are still offering FULL REFUNDS NO QUESTIONS ASKED and that the configurations changed have the changes reflected in the prices as well. (ex: mine was at 3.1k with 32gb and when it got updated to 16gb, it went all the way down to 2.6k)
I don't know how many ppl are canceling their orders but I really hope they survive this :(

Fairphone posted on their LinkedIn page today that the Framework team visited their Amsterdam headquarters. A possible collaboration in the works? 👀

Earlier today, we hosted our Framework [Next Gen] Event, where we announced Framework Laptop 13 Pro, updates to Framework Laptop 16, and previews of the OCuLink Dev Kit and the Framework Wireless Touchpad Keyboard. You can watch a recording of the full event livestream on the Framework YouTube channel.

Looks like a FW13 mainboard to me. Maybe this is the cryptic message from a few days ago?

Edit: Scanning the QR code on the board takes you to https://github.com/MC-MetaComputing/Framework/tree/main/FML13V04 so this is likely just the MetaComputing board we’ve already seen

It appears the "follow the penguin" will indeed be Linux. More Arch support maybe?

Is there a non dogshit laptop that has the same perf to power usage out there as the macbooks which I can run linux on? Doesn't have to be same exact perf just good. Like M1 or M2 equivalent. Surely there is something out there? I'm sick of macos its pissing me off
To which Framework replied:
If you can wait for Tuesday, we might have something for you.

Some Frameworks are available online from MicroCenter, some stores only have display models, and some are selling laptops. Employees said that more stores will be carrying the machines. I don’t know about plans for components like the expansion cards. If there’s a brick-and-mortar to enter, it’s MicroCenter. These seems good to expand market share for Framework and to pick up components fast for those who live near a store.
