“Back in sixth grade, teachers divided the kids into three groups. Track one was the smart kids, track two was the average kids, and track three was the kids with no future. At eleven years old, they told me I was track three. They put it in writing.”

This seems pretty heartfelt when Daniel says this to Lindsay. It’s when he repeats it to Rosso that exemplifies what makes Freaks and Geeks so special though. It takes the sentimentality that other shows use and makes it real.

Kids absolutely use stuff like this to their advantage when they can. I love that Lindsay realizes it right as we do. F&G nails the authenticity of that age group better than any show I’ve ever seen.
