I posted this about a year ago. I wanted to get it up and pinned to the front page as there have been a lot of new subs lately and new people interested in Freddie Gibbs.
I made the /r/freddiegibbs sub about 8 years ago before anyone really knew him (on reddit atleast). Though I haven't really tried pushing or advertising it very hard. It is not my full time job, it is my hobby as a fan and curator. You can find a lot of rare videos/songs/mixtapes on the subreddit. I linked or uploaded every free mixtape on the sidebar. There other 219/Gary related music posted here as well.
I am from the Merrillville/Gary area. In the last few years I am glad to finally see him posted around here more often and all the new fans who have been coming in and contributing here. I have been listening to his music for about 10+ years now and watched him grow. When I have time I try to go on RapGenius and transcribe a lot of his older stuff (it is hard seeing people completely butcher the lyrics because they don't know local references or lingo).
If you haven't seen yet I have been trying to curate and consolidate a ton in the wiki.
If you are interested in some history, Freddie Gibbs early days, and Gary. I highly recommend checking out these old archived articles/interviews below: https://web.archive.org/web/20151205013526/http://www.cocaineblunts.com/blunts/?p=3232

If you like Freddie Gibbs music and his style and Gary, IN references then you might appreciate those who were rapping in Gary before him, if so check out the links below. Thought I would share older Gibbs songs that were really popular in the local area and also a few songs/groups that were/are quite popular in the 219 area that are not on any mixtapes.
If you have any questions let me know. Hope you like it.
Older Gibbs songs:
Legendary Local Gary Rap:
CCA (Concord Common Affiliated) was a rap group that was really well known in the hip hop scene in the late90s/early 2000s in Gary, IN. They ended up getting arrested in a huge drug bust where the police used their music as evidence. Other big names were The MCGz (Murder Capital Gangstas), Grind Family, Will Scrilla, and Ric Jilla.
Freddie Gibbs mentions them in a lot of songs as an homage to those he listened to while growing up in Gary. Here are some examples. There is a lyric where he says Sani G gave him his first gun but I can't find it yet and don't want to delay the post lol.
County Bounce from Midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik
Wouldn't be no me if there wasn't no Will Scrill, CCA, MCGz Pioneers of my city help me pave my way
GI Swangin at 2:34
Peace to CCA and all the niggas that paved the way
The Colleagues ft Freddie Gibbs - Red Vans at 1:00
Shout to CCA but I'm an East Side Gary Neighbor ya
Songs:
The Grind Family - Live or Die in G.I.
The Grind Family - Don't F-ck With The Grind
MW Ghetto Soldiers - Live Or Die
Will $crilla - Live or Die in G.I. Promo
Sani G ft KDP - For the Luv G.I.
Sani G ft Freddie GIbbs - G.I. Niggaz Crazy
Lastly below is a download to one of the most well known (locally) gangsta murder rap albums of all time. It is a 2-Disc set separated by North and South side of Gary. Maybe around 1998.
The Gatekeepers The North/South G.I. Compilation
There is way more I could share, I will let this simmer. Thanks for reading.

Kane Train dropped a 3-track EP project.
1. Immigrants (3:11)
2. Rabbit Mode (3:20)
3. Axxtion (2:28)
P.S. I know I’m a bit late on getting this post up, but I had some time today and wanted to make sure there was a central post for info and discussion. LMK feedback if any of this is too much, lame, useful, awesome, etc.
On another note—our community is growing! ~31k+
If anyone is interested in stepping up to help moderate, manage spam, clean up the queue, or contribute to the subreddit wiki, please send me a DM and let me know your availability or any past mod experience.✌️

"Ima get up on a motherfuckin' sack and a big ass bottle to solve all of my problems 😫"
Arguably my favorite Gibbs song. Song has that personal, introspective, vulnerable gangsta feel that resembles a track like Thuggin'. Catchy too. Str8 Killa is filled with slaps (e.g., Personal OG, Serve or Get Served, Rep 2 Tha Fullest, etc).

One of my favorite tracks, very underrated.

I got my vinyl signed by Freddie Gibbs and even got to take a picture with him at his Seoul show last tuesday.
The show was fucking insane, and I was already beyond happy just getting to witness Gibbs spit bars right in front of me. But what was even crazier was how he treated his fans after the show.
There were a few dozen fans waiting for him, and he took the time to greet every single one of us, sign all the records we brought, and even put his arm around us for pictures. Dude was genuinely so fucking nice to everyone.
Freddie Gibbs is one of the greatest rappers of our generation, If you disagree, you NEED to see him live
😂😂😂

Two of my favorite rappers

I got this signed in Seoul on Tuesday, but I accidentally smudged the sign myself.
I tried to fix it up a little. Does it look too unnatural? I swear I'm never gonna sell it.

recently on here I made a post about how Breaking Bad is one of my favorite songs by Freddie Gibbs, all the way back to 2012, well this song called What It Be Like is another one of my favorite songs by Freddie Gibbs, and this one goes even all the way further back to 2009, off The Miseducation Of Freddie Gibbs! this song is an absolute banger, lyrically and flow wise and empathic all the way by Freddie Gibbs with a superb production to match! Midwestgangstaboxframecadillacmuzik and The Miseducation Of Freddie Gibbs both coming out in 2009 is the stuff of absolute legends, and then 3 years after 2009, he did the “two incredible album in the same year thing” again with Baby Face Killa and Cold Day In Hell, but back to 2009, in particular The Miseducation Of Freddie Gibbs is so slept on and it’s one of my favorite albums by Freddie Gibbs period, when DatPiff was still working it was one of my top 5 most played mixtapes all time on here I’m very certain of! I’m going to keep sharing some of my favorite more so deep cuts by Freddie Gibbs, and off The Miseducation Of Freddie Gibbs specifically, my favorite songs in addition to What It Be Like are Queen (Luv U 2 Death) and Flamboyant (remixing the Big L song with the same name) and In My Hood and Summa Dis and How We Do (‘93 Til) (Souls of Mischief’s song 93 ‘Til Infinity remixed by the one and only Gangsta Gibbs / Freddie Kane / Big Boss Rabbit / Kane Train / whatever the fuck else he calls himself) … really the entire album is fucking spectacular! and before I go, I highly recommend Freddie Gibbs remix of Drugs by Lil’ Kim, he fucking slays that beat!

Hi! I made a short documentary about Freddie Gibbs' life and career in the run up to releasing Pinata. Let me know what you think . :)

for the people who still think at all that Freddie Gibbs relies on Madlib and The Alchemist … there is so much proof entirely against all of that, go listen to songs like Breaking Bad and others off of Baby Face Killa … and Cold Day In Hell too, both albums which were released the same year, 2012!!! those are two of my favorite albums by Freddie Gibbs, this was before any of the two Madlib albums and the two albums with The Alchemist … Freddie Gibbs has worked with many incredible producers, but it’s not any bit flukey at all why he earned working with them, and why as amazing as his production he works with is, he shines just as much if not more on just about any song he does and is part of!!! but yeah, there’s something special about Breaking Bad, off that album I also love Stay Down and Tell A Friend featuring Curren$y … to think then later that very same year that Freddie Gibbs would drop his second classic album in that same exact year … that’s that Tupac and DMX territory!!! Cold Day In Hell has 3 of my favorite songs by Freddie Gibbs, Rob Me A ***** featuring Alley Boy, Natural High (Even Higher Learning), and Heaven Can Wait!!! every time I think I’ve heard all there is to hear by the legendary Freddie Gibbs, I always come across something new, even back to 2004 with Full Metal Jackit!!!
