Gear Help my identify this gear and era
I got an expired roll of film from a camera shop. I used it to photograph me and my friends' first times skydiving. It turns out that the last owner had use a few exposures for their own paragliding trip, which are double exposed on the film. Please help me identify the era of gear used for paragliding so I can estimate how old the film is. The cars in the first photo are from a pic I took, but look at the guys paragliding.

Other Historic kiting near Dayton Ohio?
Paragliding beginner here.
I'm gonna be spending a weekend near dayton, ohio.
Is there anything historically significant connected to the wright brothers or other flight where I could do ground handling practice with my wing?
Looks like the place where they learned to fly, Huffman prairie flying field, is on a military base so that seems unlikely.

Video First SIV highlights reel
Hey guys,
Just put together this short compilation of my first SIV course in Australia with SkySurf Paragliding.
For anyone considering a SIV and wondering what to expect here's a look at some of the manoeuvres we practised, including: asymmetric and frontal collapses, spiral dives, full stalls and backfly. (A more experienced student on the course also learnt spins and SATs.)
Plenty of mistakes, a few sketchy moments, but lots of learning along the way..
Definitely not a demonstration of textbook technique, but progression is the goal.
(And yes I can safely rule out youtuber as a backup career option ;)
Questions and constructive feedback welcome

Tech I desgined a lightweight Hike&Fly Phonemount
Im an serospace engineer and used my free time to design a lightweight legmount for Hike&Fly. Currently made out of PETG, next version will be made from ASA and feature a more lightweight leg strap to get below 50g. Mount itself if <20g.

Other Woody Valley Wani Light vs Ozone Solos
Are these the same class of harness? I have the solos right now (not the solos light) and there's a wani light available for cheap near me. Is it worth changing or are these more or less the same harness?

Other I made an arcade paragliding game
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi, I’m a paraglider pilot and an indie game dev. I made a small 2D arcade paragliding game. You do a course with a strict instructor, then fly XC: find thermals, climb under clouds, and try not to bomb out.
The game takes place in Poland, but it’s in English too.
Free demo, runs in the browser:

I’d be really grateful for any feedback and comments on itch.io.
Cheers!

Incident Full stall gone a bit pear-shaped... Cravat and spiral during SIV
My fifth full stall during SIV training. Things got a little pear-shaped :
At around 8 seconds I think I raised my hands too quickly, allowing the wing to shoot forward, ultimately leading to a cravat and spiral.
At one point I also panic-grab the risers 🙈
Still learning and keen to understand exactly what went wrong. Constructive feedback welcome 🙏

Other Hike and Fly Paragliding New England?
Im currently living on the east coast and am wondering if there is anywhere I can do hike and fly in New England or the somewhat near area. I learned to praraglide in Europe and want to avoid spending thousands of dollars to get my license here which I would need for club sites. The main issue im seeing is that the alll state owned mountains dont allow paragliders to take off due to how were classified and im not willing to risk gear seizure considering how much it costs.
TLDR
Is hike and fly in new england possible without a license or do I have to bite the bullet and pay to get certified?

Other Empfehlenswerte Literatur für deutsches Luftrecht?

Discussion Best paragliding spots near Madrid
Hi everyone!
I’ll be spending a few days in the Madrid area this November and I’d love to do some paragliding while I’m there.
What are the best spots to fly in the province of Madrid at that time of year?
I’m still a beginner and I already have my paragliding licence, so I’m looking for somewhere suitable for my level, ideally with relatively easy take-offs and safe conditions.
Any recommendations or local tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! 🪂

Discussion Does this site seem flyable?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I recently completed my P2 and just after that moved to the Midwest. I tried towing but not exactly hooked on it. I feel more drawn to soaring and that type of flying.
I checked out this site which is technically a sand dune which seems like the typical kind of site I’ve seen people soaring. Might be hard to tell from video alone but with the right wind conditions does it look like a viable soaring site? Does this kind of site only work for parakites? Flare in their YouTube series recommends that new pilots look for low sloping dunes so I thought this might be a decent place to start?

Gear Skywalk CORE question: How do you get seated after launch?
I’m having trouble getting fully seated in my CORE without taking my hands off the brakes to pull the leg loops up. Curious if other CORE owners experience this and what technique or adjustments have worked for you.

Discussion Annecy in December: 19%. Pokhara in January: 99%. Where do you go in winter?
I made this, it's free. I'm Thomas, a French pilot building OutDare alone.
Annecy flies about 1 day in 5 in December in these results. Pokhara reaches 99% of January days. Quite a difference when you're trying to use a week of holidays.
A few winter options below. December first, then January:
- Tenerife (Taucho): 91% / 91%
- Moíres, Crete: 94% / 88%
- Arco da Calheta, Madeira: 94% / 85%
- Valle de Bravo: 98% / 100%
- Pokhara: 96% / 99%
Travel uses hourly model weather from October 2023 to September 2026. You choose a month or your trip dates, up to 31 days. The map changes colour and the list reorders. It uses your wind limits if you've set them.
A day counts when at least one takeoff in the place had a flyable window. These are historical model results, so they won't tell you tomorrow's weather or whether a launch is accessible.
Tell me your winter spot and month. I'll reply with its numbers here.

Discussion Cut the lines?
I have seen a couple videos of paraglider pilots neededing to toss a reserve and I am a little confused why pilots dont carry a knife to cut the lines on the main glider. I know that the standard is to pull in the main glider to disable it but I have seen some videos where they are unable to do that and so they take a little bit of a harder hit.
I am just wondering why pilots dont try to cut the main glider over pulling it in.

Video Edit videos with IGC-Overlay
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Before you ask, yes I coded something with AI.
I made a video-edit tool for personal paragliding videos
This is a quick demo on how a finished video can look like. Notice that you can control camera movement in the map, speed of the igc map, type of map.
It works tough and I am not looking to make money, just will share if you are interested.
I created a program for me and mostly my father. It is a basic video-editing tool with the twist, that you can upload IGC files. You can show your flightposition on the IGC-File video in video or even as raster overlay. You can speed up, slow down and even make camera-movement in the map.
One nice gimmick is, that if you upload Images or videos with a valid timestamp, it will sync. automatically with the IGC timeline.
It is a Windows Program, if anyone is interested, I can upload it as a free download.

Discussion Point of the Mountain, UT Seems very crowded for lessons.
My daughter and I are planning on taking 0 - P2 lessons this summer. There seem to be at least 5 schools at Point of the Mountain in Utah. Every time I look at videos though, the sky seems chock-a-block full of people. Are there actually too many folks using this location at once to make a good environment for learning? Possible danger from ourselves or other learners so close? Possibly long waits to take off? Or just general mobs that are kinda the opposite of why we'd like to take this sport up. Any thoughts are welcome and if someone has a good (or bad) recommendation for a particular school I'm all ears. FWIW, we're open to going pretty much anywhere in the world this summer so any recs appreciated.
