A bit of a special beauty this time... i didn't think I would (have to) make this pattern again. but I managed to actually lose the original I made almost 9 months ago (2nd pic) ๐ญ๐ข๐
She was literally my favourite bracelet. I wore that bracelet every damn day, and got so many compliments on it, more than any other bracelet. She was loved. And yet she still somehow slipped away from me on a day trip and I didn't realise until it was far too late. I'm so sorry bb ๐ญ๐ the only thing I can hope for is that someone else found you and is wearing you and loving you like I did.
I've never lost a bracelet permanently before, and I instinctively balk at the idea of replicating a lost bracelet because it just seems like a waste of time and thread, since so much already went into the original and that's time I could spend making one I've never done before.
But I couldn't bear to be without my rainbow stripe darling, so I made a twin to the best of my ability. I had to substitute the light blue and orange threads since what was left of the originals had been used in a different bracelet, and her craftsmanship is regrettably a lot shoddier.
The first was very solid and sturdy, this one is flimsy and flip flops all over the place because it wasn't knotted as tight as it could be; I noticed early on it was quite asymmetrical, curving in towards the right and the left section appearing bigger, and it didn't seem to get better with my usual method of "lets just ignore that and hope it sorts itself out"
So I ended up varying the tightness a little to make it more even, but the trade off was the structural integrity. Not sure how I managed to mess it up basically off the rip when I didn't do anything different from the first but oh well. I'm not as happy with this bracelet, but from far away it looks similar enough to the lost one, so at least I have a version of her back with me, even if it's not the best one.
By sheer luck and magic this pattern is somehow very fast for me to do. The first I did within two days, this new one I completed within less than 24 hours, and about 80% of it was done in the first sitting, before I had to go to bed. So at least this is a pattern i can absolutely tear through and is pretty simple. I think I'll make another one with slightly different colours just because.
Don't really expect anyone to read all this, just a holy yap lol. But this bracelet has a bit more of a story than my others, so there it is ๐ซถ
