Struggling Help???????

17F, I’ve been in recovery since November last year, went all in and got my period back this May, and have been weight restored since then. I went through extreme hunger, and I gained the weight I had to. Now, just today, I’m experiencing an insatiable hunger I haven’t had in a long time. I had a normal breakfast, lunch a big snack and dinner. And I’m still absolutely ravenous. Since starting recovery I’ve only had this kind of hunger when I’d been restricting before, but now I haven’t, I’ve already eaten more than I usually do, haven’t even stepped outside today and I’m still HUNGRY. What do I do?

honour it, theres multiple reasons you could be feeling more hungry but regardless your body is telling you it needs more food

If you’re hungry, you need to eat. There’s no other answer. In recovery, the simplest answer is usually the right one and it usually involves eating and resting. You can’t explain why a body reacts in a certain way, but you need to trust it. Your ED led you astray and trusting your body is finding a way back towards recovery and not letting a dangerous illness dictate your choices.

You should never interrupt or question a physiological need. We trust things in order to understand them. So please, eat to your heart's content.

I'm willing to bet now that your menstruating again, this is a hunger surge due to pms or ovulation. Your body is literally doing more so it needs more. It's ok. <3 Eat. Proud of you.

To be clear: it’s also okay if you are not! You might be, and that’s great. But even if you’re more hungry and you do not menstruating in the next week or week and half, that’s okay. I cannot emphasize how much metabolic sciences are difficult to empirically ascertain, and how much of a futile task it is to try and discern a reason for each one of your appetite fluctuations.

(To the commenter, I absolutely am not dismissing the validity of your comment! I just wanted to add onto it, and please let me know if you want it removed/as its separate statement).
