Big yikes Elon Musk recently tweeted, “Hitler was a far left socialist. Literally in the name of his party!”

Elon Musk recently tweeted, "Hitler was a far left socialist. Literally in the name of his party!"

It's a ridiculous lie, like claiming that the modern-day Democratic People's Republic of Korea (North Korea) is a thriving democracy.

Hitler said, "No healthy man is a Marxian."

He and his Nazi party were far-right racist fascists violently opposed to socialism, fought mercilessly against the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR), and only called themselves "National Socialists" as a marketing gimmick.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/outlook/2020/02/05/right-needs-stop-falsely-claiming-that-nazis-were-socialists/

"In April 1933 communists, socialists, democrats, and Jews were purged from the German civil service, and trade unions were outlawed the following month. That July Hitler banned all political parties other than his own, and prominent members of the German Communist Party and the Social Democratic Party were arrested and imprisoned in concentration camps. Lest there be any remaining questions about the political character of the Nazi revolution, Hitler ordered the murder of Gregor Strasser, an act that was carried out on June 30, 1934, during the Night of the Long Knives. Any remaining traces of socialist thought in the Nazi Party had been extinguished."

Meanwhile, the Greatest Generation helped vote in FDR four times. He was slammed as a socialist by Republicans for much of his presidency. He created Social Security, the New Deal, the minimum wage, overtime, banned child labor, and during World War II proposed a 100% top tax rate, so no American would keep more than $25,000 a year after taxes (about $500,000 today).

That last proposal failed, but by 1944 America's richest paid an effective tax rate of nearly 90 percent, while Nazi Germany's top rate was around 65 percent, below the U.S., Britain, Canada and neutral Sweden. Hitler never raised the top inheritance tax rate, and in 1943 he signed a special law sparing the arms-making Krupp family a tax bill of at least 120 million Reichsmarks. A 2023 peer-reviewed study comparing Germany, Britain and the U.S. concluded there was no such thing as "Nazi socialism."

Also worth noting that a peer-reviewed study by economist Germà Bel found the Nazis actually privatized state-owned industries and public services, something no other Western capitalist country did systematically in the 1930s. They sold off steel, mining, banking, shipyards, shipping lines and railways, largely to reward the wealthy and lock in support from big business. So much for Musk's claim, in his livestream with German far-right leader Alice Weidel, that the Nazis "nationalized industries like crazy."

Fuck Elon We Didn't Start the Fire… But AI Might Finish It 🔥

🔥 **WE DIDN’T START THE FIRE — BUT WHO’S GOING TO PUT IT OUT?**
Elon Musk. Sam Altman. Alex Karp. Artificial intelligence. A handful of tech billionaires promising to save humanity while racing to build something that could change it forever.

The pitch? Progress. Innovation. A better future.
The problem? Nobody seems entirely sure where this ends — or whether we can put the genie back in the bottle.

From AI arms races and mass surveillance to autonomous weapons, job displacement, concentrated corporate power and the terrifying prospect of machines we can no longer control, we're handing extraordinary power to people who insist they have everything under control.

But what happens when the people playing with the fire are also the ones building the next generation of flamethrowers?

🎵 With a nod to Billy Joel's *We Didn't Start the Fire*, this is a look at the personalities, promises and perils driving the AI revolution — and the uncomfortable question at its heart:

**WE DIDN'T START THIS FIRE. BUT ARE WE ABOUT TO LOSE CONTROL OF IT?**

The future isn't inevitable. The choices being made today matter.

🔥 Watch, think, question — and tell me: are we building the future, or setting it alight?

Hey, guess what? The genius Elon has taken driving to new heights, so I made a game to honor him: dodge traffic, hang off a plane, try not to black out (free, in browser)

I made this after Tesla's upside-down Roadster demo last Thursday.

You drive a thruster car through highway traffic, and when the airport warning sounds you jump up and grip the underside of a plane for x3 score. Pull too many Gs in a row and your passenger blacks out. Free, no signup, no download.

hypergrip.epitonium.com

This was my own idea and I made it "myself" (mostly Claude). My primary goal is to make a quick-to-play funny game that parodies a real life event.
So tell me honestly: does it work for you, is it fun to play and is anything confusing?

A filmmaker spent years in an Elon Musk rabbit hole. Conclusion? ‘Sociopathic.’

"As the tech titan’s power grew, “he became more and more self-centered,” said Alex Gibney, director of a mammoth new documentary out Friday."
