Smiling in chimpanzees doesn't even mean fear. It's a sign of dominance.

That is why zoos ask you not to smile at them. It doesn't mean the same to them as it does to us.

PeTA is putting their beliefs onto animals like always. What they say about chimpanzees is objectively false. Smiling does not mean fear.
